Beautiful Vintage #1 Ponytail Barbie Doll 1959 One Owner OG Stand & Collection!
RARE FIND! Number One Blonde Ponytail Barbie with the Original Early Fashions, Pronged TM Mattel #1 Stand Accessories and Case Little nine year old Alice received the first issue Barbie teenage fashion doll for Christmas in 1959. Mattel’s Barbie had just made her debut at the International Toy show in New York. This is a rare opportunity to own a very special number one Barbie with the original “one owner” childhood collection. It includes many early fashions, complete with the jewelry and accessories This Ponytail Barbie is stunning with her cute upturned nose and signature ponytail. She has dramatic lightning shaped eyebrows and handpainted makeup ; blue side glancing eyes, blue eyeliner, smoky eye shadow, coral red lips, red fingernails and toenails. She’s truly stunning and in remarkable condition for being 64 years old. She is 99% original and retains most of her original factory characteristics This number one blonde ponytail has the extended hairline, which is different from the number threes and later dolls. She is very unusual and rare in that she has two distinctly different hairlines from left to right. Her right side is curved and differs from the straighter hairline on the left. She is wearing her original hairstyle set with the top knot and hard curl at the bottom. The ponytail has been retied with matching colored thread as the band was shot. Her hair is uncut and she has no missing plugs. She has a flocked scalp, silky floss hair in baby chick yellow, full poodle bangs with well defined curls and a cute spit curl on her forehead. Her make up is excellent. as is the the nail and toenail polish. She has all of the correct markings on her bottom; Mattel Barbie TM, 1958 in Roman numerals, pat pending and the number 65. She is marked Japan on the bottom of one foot. Her limbs are nice and tight, but she is able to hold any pose. Her neck moves freely, and there are no issues. She has beautiful and even creamy, pale pinkish ivory body color which is amazing as I e usually sees a in e sort of fading . She has beautiful straight legs with the desired daylight shown only between the thigh and knee , and knee and ankle…A sign of classical beauty with models. She has holes in each of her feet with the original copper tubes present. And she even has her original Mattel TM two prong stand which is very valuable! She has had very minor work done.. a professional restoration to her right pinky and a little touch up to her eyelash ridges. There was also one teeny pinpoint freckle on her left leg just below the knee that has been touched up to match the body color . If you look closely at the photos, you will see how gorgeous this doll is. I have not seen one in original condition that is this outstanding. Barbie has a boyfriend , Ken, who will be listed in a separate listing. Blonde Barbie comes with her original iconic black and white swimsuit, white cat, eyeglasses, black, OT mules with holes. Thankfully her feet do not have any of the staining that is typical with these Barbies. She also has her original gold bangle, hoop earrings! One hole per ear and no green ear! How perfect is this girl?! She is FABULOUS! It was so fun to find Barbie in her original little nest with all the fun boxes and precious accessories that Alice had lovingly kept and preserved. You can tell that this Barbie was truly loved and treasured. Alice did not let other children touch or play with her doll :-)*** This collection would not be complete without a photo of little Alice in December of 1959 around the time that she received this Barbie for Christmas. The photo is included here and a printed copy along with the original provenance of this doll will come with the collection upon request Barbie will come with her original white Ponytail case , dated 1961. A couple minor tears at the seams. And her original TM #1 Ponytail fashion booklet along with the second issue with Barbie and Ken in silhouette in the cover . 1959 VINTAGE #2 PONYTAIL BARBIE DOLL *Not Played With” Orig. Hair/ No Green Ear
I wish I could say this doll is new….I honestly don’t think she was ever played with. I bought her along with her mint condition/not played with 1960’s wardrobe & a few other dolls. She had been dressed in the 1961 airline stewardess outfit. I believe that is why she has some subtle blue marks on her lower legs & her back. *She has no green ear at all*I don’t think her hair was ever brushed either. The top pony wrap is perfect and the lower rubber band is still in her hair. I think some hair accidentally came out of the ponytail when I was trying to take the wire hat off her head. I took pics of her feet & buttucks markings with my magnifying app. I still can not see a date on her buttocks, but I believe it is there (just naturally worn down from age). She has no visible cracks on her body. The only issue I see is the discoloration from the blue clothing. I will list her mint condition 1960’s clothing & accessories daily…as I get free time :)Please email me any questions. From my research, I believe she is a #2 blonde ponytail Barbie from 1959. On some boxes (about 20-30), the plastic protective part has cracked, and a few boxes are slightly dented, but the dolls inside are new. Five books with names of many other outfits which we have...for example, American Airlines Stewardess; Sheath Sensation; Solo in the Spotlight; Let's Dance; Cruise Striped Dress; Resort Set with tennis racket; Registered Nurse; Graduation Gown and Hat; Busy Gal; Cotton Casual; Friday Night Date; Basic Barbie Doll Fashion Model Set (the black and white striped swimsuit, two of those); After Five; Career Girl; Sweet Dreams; several mix and match; pajamas (2 pair) and a slip. Accessories: cooking (apple, Barbie tray, orange juice (2), spatula, spoon, rolling pin); soap; ten hats; nine purses; 31 hangers; 18 pairs of shoes, various colors; the pink phone; a Barbie design portfolio; as well as more accessories, stockings, tights; white and black gloves, long and short, 2 rabbit stoles, (one is missing a hook), 9 purses. The white box says TM Lic., by Mattel, Inc. 1961--there are two circles, mostly black; the larger black one with Solo on it (here in a brown dress, we have the black one), says R in a circle TM Lic., & C in a circle, by Mattel Inc. 1962. Condition is very good on most things, some things and clothes are like new, some have a few flaws like a stain but these can be washed, or as on the Enchanted Evening, i think shld be dry cleaned; but on the whole everything is in very good condition, see photos, everything is in there; all of this has been owned by one person since childhood. One of the books has marks which we think showed her mother and grandmother what had been bought so they knew what to choose from next. (Condition: Pre-Owned)

RARE 1950s Vintage German Bild Lilli Doll -- (Barbie's inspiration)
Vintage, Rare Bild Lilli Doll from mid 1950s GermanyHere's some background on the Lilli doll from Wikipedia:"The Bild Lilli doll was a West German line of fashion doll launched by Greiner & Hausser Gmbh on August 12, 1955, and produced until 1964. Its design was based on the comic-strip character Lilli, created by Reinhard Beuthien for the tabloid newspaper Bild. The doll was made of polystyrene, came in two sizes, and had an available wardrobe of 1950s fashion. The Lilli doll was copied, and altered to some degree, for Mattel upon the direction of that company's co-founder, Ruth Handler. Mattel acquired the rights to Bild Lilli in 1964, and production of the German doll ceased, in favor of Mattel's new vinyl doll, which they called Barbie My father was stationed in Nurnburg from 1955-57 and the whole family got to go along. I was in second grade when we got there and as soon as I saw the Lilli dolls hanging from the rear view mirrors of cars I started begging my mother for one. Eventually I wore her down and I and my three year old sister(!) both got Bild Lilli dolls for Christmas. My sister recently sold her Bild Lilli doll on eBay and has been encouraging me to list mine. I am the best at procrastination but I am finally taking the e-bay plunge from buyer to seller. By the way, I included the last picture because my mother gave me the doll with the tennis dress turned backwards so Lilli's cleavage would not show. I did not realize this fact until I started researching the doll for this listing. I think it is funny and just like something my mother would have done. There is wear on the paint on her eyelashes, shoes, and fingernails. *Some of the later Lilli dolls did not have a front curl but I cut off my Lilli's front curl; if you look closely you can see where it used to be. I don't know for sure but I suspect I cut it because when Barbie came out she did not have one. I apparently was trying to make Lilli a follower instead of the attention seeking woman Beuthien had in mind. Lilli's hair was a ponytail but I had restyled it into a bun to fit the headpiece my mother made for a bridal gown. This evening, after about 50 years in storage, I combed it out and styled it into a braid. There are pictures of both styles. Someone who actually works with dolls could probably take a curling iron and restyle the ponytail. I also feel I must warn you that the doll squeaks when you move her limbs, especially her left arm, but she has been good about letting me dress her, both in the '50s and now in 2023. In separate listings I am offering an authentic German dirndl dress with apron for Lilli and some listings of assorted doll clothing which include many my mother made plus a few Bild Lilli outfits with the PRMY snaps. I also believe the sheer bed jacket in the Lot belonged to Lilli even though it lacks the snaps to prove it. U.S. Sales OnlyThis wonderful collection was purchased by me in 1980 at an estate sale in a small town in rural Missouri. I have kept the pieces together since then, but now it's time to let it go.Everything is vintage original - no reproductions Lot includes 1960 #3 blonde ponytail Barbie doll, brunette 1961 #1 flocked Ken doll, the first 1963 Midge doll and a 1963 Fashion Queen Barbie with her three wigs, numerous outfits and accessories that have had very little, if any, play, and the majority of which are in clean, crispy near mint to mint condition. Also included are three fashion booklets, numerous plastic hangers, 2 vinyl cases and the four doll stands Description notes:1960 #3 Barbie has the harder to find blue eyeliner. The tip of her right brow was light and has been lightly touched up. She has a tiny scuff on the bridge of her nose (see photo #14), not really noticeable unless you're looking for it. There is a small brown spot in the vinyl on her left upper torso below the arm (see photo #16). Her legs have paled just a bit over the years but have never been replaced or exchanged. Her blonde ponytail is long, soft and full with no trims or missing plugs. All limbs are tight. No green or neck splits. Original b/w swimsuit, glasses and shoes.1961 1st Ken doll, nm, with flocked brunette hair. No rubs on his flocking. Original swim suit and sandals.1963 1st early Brunette Midge doll, nm. Has the googly eyes common to some of the earliest Midges, and a wide stance. The pink top of her original swimsuit is in fair condition with a run on the back and seam out around the bottom.1963 Fashion Queen Barbie nm with original turban and swimsuit. The teeth of the zipper on her swimsuit are off track and don't interlock, but the zipper goes up and down to connect at top and bottom.The two cases have average wear; tape has been added to the right side of the pink case.Numerous original Barbie and Ken clothing and accessories in crisp, clean, nm/mint condition. Most appear to have never been played with, and most outfits are complete or nearly so. Large numbers and variety of original shoes. Includes a few hard-to-find small pieces such as Ken's car keys, Ken's corsage in the plastic "case," Barbie's pearl drop necklace and her charm bracelet. From a non-smoking home. 1960 Vintage Early #3 Blond Ponytail Barbie, Brn eyeliner, w/outfits, OrigOwner
This early Mattel number 3 Barbie is all original with no touchups!I am the original owner. She was my first Barbie. She is not perfect but still a wonderful example of this beautiful iconic doll. She was gently handled and stored for more than 60 years in a smokefree home. She comes with the original zebra striped bathing suit, black mules and white sunglasses.I have included 7 outfits with accessories and the storage trunk box in which she has been stored. Most of the clothes are in excellent vintage condition but missing a few accessories as you can see in the photos. There are also two original Mattel Barbie dress patterns packages from 1961. The packages are opened but the patterns were never used. Her face is still gorgeous. The paint, luscious red lipstick, blue eyes and delicate brown eye shadow are all 100% original with no touch ups, rubs, or missing paint! The red polish on her fingers and toes shows a little rub off. (See photos.)She has all of her original hair with no missing plugs or cut pieces. She has nice poodle bangs and the original top knot. The original hair band on her ponytail was in fragments when I took her out of the storage case so I replaced it. She has JAPAN on the bottom of her foot in a rectangle. I was told by someone more knowledgeable than I, that indicates an early version of #3. Her overall skin is quite even. The Mattel marking is clear on her tush but she has some discoloration where her legs have been for so many years. She has all her fingers and toes. She has a few almost imperceptible scratches on her legs that don't show in photos. Her head, arms and legs all move well and the joints are tight. She has a some tiny metallic looking specks on her chest and dark ones on her hip and right temple. Her right ear is slightly marred. There is no green visible behind her earrings. (See photos)Barbie's clothing outfits are all original from about 1960 and are in excellent vintage condition with working zippers. They include the Winter Holiday complete with accessories and the leather-like belt, wedge shoes and plaid travel bag; the Wedding Day set with white satin gown and nylon chiffon over skirt and ruffles, the blue garter belt, pearl tiara veil, shoes and gloves; Friday Night Date with tray, drinks and a straw; Barbie Q Outfit with apron, chef's hat and some utensils; Suburban Shopper, Floral Petticoat and Fashion Undergarments with brush and mirror.
