Large nostalgic late 50's / 60's Barbie and Ken Estate lot. 7 Dolls, **OVER 100 PIECES OF CLOTHING!!!** Multiple accessories, 4 Ponytail cases, ephemera. Dolls and cases are in the condition I purchased them in with the exception of wiping down the Ponytail cases. - Ken in Mexico (1963) Blue Eyes, Flocked Brunette Hair (patchy around the crown of the head.) Original paint on face, some light wear on eyebrows. Bottom of right foot stamped Japan. Light marks on tip of nose. Non-bending joints, Joints are mostly tight, arms are a touch loose. No bite marks on feet but possibly on hands, (not terrible, but some blemishes there.) - "Ken in Mexico" outfit looks complete, pants have little intact stirrups, has original black cowboy boots and paper insert. (There is also an insert for Barbie in Mexico but no doll or clothes found.) - Original Ken (1960) Bottom stamped Hawthorn CA USA. Painted on blonde hair shows some wear around the crown of the head. Face paint is original and looks great. No chew marks. Some discoloration on shoulders. Joints are loose, do not bend. - 1960s Brunette Bubblecut Barbie. Red lips and a sideways glance. All original paint on face, fingers and toes (some nails missing paint due to age.) No chew marks. Bottom of right foot stamped "Japan." There are two small cuts on the back of her right arm/hand. Her hair is full and thick with no flat spots. Joints are tight, no loose movements. - 1958 American Girl Doll, Titian (red) hair, sideways glance. Sadly, lots of green on the face of this one. Green has also gotten into the hair. Nice original paint on the fingers, none on the toes. No chew marks. Bendable knee joints, both function excellently. Holes in the bottom of the feet. Joints are tight, no loose movements. - 1960s Blonde Francie Doll. Pink Lips, blushing cheeks, light brown eyes, and beautifully full eyelashes! All original paint. No paint on fingers or toes. No chew marks. Bendable knee joints, both function excellently. Holes in the bottom of the feet. Hair is full and has no flat spots. Bottom stamped Made in Japan. Joints are tight, no loose movements. - 1960s Blonde Ponytail Barbie. Pink lips, blushing cheeks, brown eyes with painted lashes and cat eye makeup. Painted fingers and toes (some nails missing paint due to age.) All original paint. No chew marks. Bottom of right foot stamped "Japan." Ears are pierced but no jewlery installed. Hair is full and has no flat spots. Joints are tight, no loose movements. - 1960s Strawberry Blonde Midge. Wonderful paint on face, fingers, and toes! Vibrant pink lips, blue eyes, and freckles. No chew marks. Bottom of right foot stamped Japan. Hair is full and has no flat spots, curls are still very defined. Very little sign of play with this doll. Clothing and Accessories Ken Dolls - 23 Tops/Jackets - 16 Pairs Pants/Shorts - 9 Pairs Shoes - 5 Pairs Socks (+unmatched pairs) - 1 Pair Gloves - Several fun accessories - Baseball uniform, Football uniform, Navy Uniform, Campus Hero - Nearly all of the clothing has the original black and white "Ken" tag sewn in. The pieces without this tag may or may not be by Mattel. Very few affected in the Ken lot. Some holes in knit pieces and a few on other pieces, but overall fantastic condition. Barbie Dolls - 56 Pieces of clothing! Including tops, bottoms, dresses, skirts, suits, etc. More than half of the pieces include the original black and white 'Barbie' tag. The pieces without this tag may or may not be original Mattel merch, however most are excellent qualiy and condition. Vintage 1959-60 Barbie 850 Ponytail Doll #3 in Gay Parisienne #964 Dress

eBay Vintage Mattel 1959-1960 Barbie 850 Ponytail Doll #3 with original hard-to-find 1959 Gay Parisienne #964 dress and rabbit fur stole. Auction also includes a 1961 Barbie white vinyl carrying case, her original zebra swimsuit, miscellaneous accessories, two early booklets, and a small assortment of untagged and/or handmade clothing. Doll has blond hair, blue eyes, brown eyeliner, curved (not pointed) eyebrows, and Barbie TM on backside mark. No holes in bottom of feet. Standard 11 inch Barbie height. Provenance: One owner, received Barbie as a gift in late 1959 or 1960 in Portland Oregon, the carrying case a year or so later. Doll has been stored in case (not displayed or in open) for almost 60 years. This particular Barbie is an international traveler. She has lived in five different countries (United States, Indonesia, England, Singapore and Mozambique), made seven separate ocean crossings (Pacific, Atlantic and Indian), and she’s none the worse for wear. Her claim to fame is that she might be the only Barbie ever to have lived in the Mozambique home owned by South African leader Nelson Mandela and his human rights activist wife Graca Machel (who were not in residence at the time Barbie was there). This Barbie is in very good overall condition, gently played with for a few years when new. Photos show some changes in skin coloration, as to be expected prior to the change in the plastic body in Ponytail Doll #4. The ponytail hair band has mostly come undone, so hair hangs loose. Slight tarnishing in both ear lobes from metal earring posts, one earring post with loop still in place. Doll has original red fingernail and toenail polish. Gay Parisienne #964 outfit includes the dotted blue taffeta dress, white rabbit fur stole with white satin lining, and a pair of blue shoes with holes in the bottom. The outfit does not have the white gloves, hat, gold purse, or faux pearl post earrings. The faux pearl necklace is broken, many of the beads included in small bag. Dress and stole are tagged. YKK zipper in dress. The knit zebra swimsuit is in good condition, with just a few loose threads. Outfit includes the white sunglasses, one ear piece broken off. No black shoes. This doll appears to have come with faux pearl earrings on loops - not gold loops. The earrings are in poor condition, included in small box along with other beads. [Photo taken with red handbag and red shoes.] A 1979 faux fur cape #2667 is also included in this sale, an item from the Barbie Superstar ‘Sleek n Chic’ collection. Unknown provenance, not from this owner’s Barbie. The 1961 “Ponytail” white Barbie vinyl carrying and storage case is in good condition except for some smudges and for two splits in the vinyl on the inside crease edges. Has hook for hangers (no hangers) and a pull-out ‘dresser’ box. Measures 12.25 x 10.25 x 2.5 inches. The “Barbie, Teen Age Fashion Model” booklet has the pink Barbie-only cover, dated MCMLVIII [1958] by Mattel Inc. on the lower left front cover. This booklet does not include depictions of the Gay Parisienne, Roman Holiday, or Easter Parade ensembles, so it is not a 1959 first issue. The “Barbie and Ken” booklet is dated 1962 by Kokusai Boeki Kasha, LTD, on the bottom of the inside front cover. In addition to the two booklets, there’s an undated promotional one-sheet piece for the “new” Midge doll #860, on the reverse side is an advertisement for Barbie’s Dream House #816. Other miscellaneous accessories include a pair of red shoes with holes in bottom, a lone white shoe, a red vinyl purse, and a gold metal purse. Both purses can function as doll accessories, but they don’t appear to be Barbie items. The gold flat-piece metal purse might be a logo tag from a regular handbag. Vintage 1961 Mattel Barbie Doll Model #850 Brunette Bubble Cut with original box, metal wire stand, earrings, white sunglasses with gold glitter, black/white zebra bathing suit, black shoes (one marked Japan), and pink booklet. All items are original. Barbie, PATS PEND MCMLVIII by Mattel on right buttock. Beautiful turquoise eyes and red lipstick. No green ear. Hair is raven black (brunette) with tight bubble cut, red fingernail and toenail polish. Polish and lipstick in great condition and highly visible. Shows no signs of wear. Please see picture #3. Original shoes have Japan on the bottom of one shoe. Box has blue/white suburban shopper outfit on upper left side and Brunette Bubble Cut #850 label pasted on bottom of box. Straw hat has no holes in red band that ties under her chin but some fraying around the straw brim is noted. Original vintage outfit includes: White blouse, navy skirt and jacket, black over the shoulder handbag, American Airlines travel bag and navy hat. White blouse has 3 tiny buttons and a working snap. Jacket has 4 tiny buttons, a working snap and a wings insignia on left front. Skirt is straight with working snap. Hat with an AA insignia on the front is in great condition with 2 prongs, so it stays in her hair. Black handbag and travel bag are excellent with working zipper on travel bag. Vintage First Issue Barbie Mix-N-Match Gift Set #857 (1960) Blonde #4 Barbie Complete Set This debut 1960 release of the #857 Mix-N-Match Gift Set includes the 850 blonde ponytail #4 Barbie doll with everything Barbie needs to make 70 different combinations of fabulous outfits. The Mix-N-Match Gift Set debuted in 1960 and was re-issued in 1962. Mattel swooned us in1960, releasing three incredible sets that year! They were the #856 Party Set, #857 Mix ‘n Match set, and the #858 Barbie Trousseau set (which was a double set). In 1960 and 1962 the outfits and partial outfits included in the #857 gift set are all from the 900 series ensembles: #919 Undergarments (bra, panties + slip I added), #963 Resort Set (jacket, shorts, t-shirt, hat) #976 Sweater Girl (orange sweater top, matching cardigan sweater, gray flannel skirt), #975 Winter Holiday (faux leather coat, striped hooded T-shirt, black knit pants,travel bag), #981 Busy Gal (red and white blouse), and #967 Picnic Set (jeans, red checked shirt). In 1963 a #861 Barbie Mix ‘n Match Gift Set was released with a Bubble Cut Barbie doll. Accessories in the original gift set were pearl stud earrings or gold hoop earrings (mine are faux diamond studs), sunglasses, crystal necklace (mine is faux bead), black wire stand, black open-toe heels and pink booklet with her picture on the front. The accessories are in the box with Barbie, see pics. That Barbie booklet is fragile, reads "Printed in Japan" on the back cover, and was the only one I had! It's the early one that has only Barbie's picture on the front cover. I have secured the outfit pieces in place on the original display cardboard. The outfits are all original with vintage labels intact, nice condition with no worn out elastic pieces. A few items did not have a label but are well recognized as Barbie original pieces. Her black heels are original although my pictures of her shoes failed to capture a readable "Japan" stamp. The Barbie I chose is the best one I have, not perfect but still so pretty with a solid good tight jointed body. She is secured in the center display box and I added a soft lining for her so her face does not rub against the wire stand. Her hair is secured to hold her ponytail close to her neck. The small marks on her back did not come off, but likely there is a way to remove what looks like ink or marker. Her butt marking is almost unreadable so I went thru a few steps to enhance the detail, see pics. I took tons of pictures of this Gift Set and worked very carefully to re-create the original as best I could. After all, it's a part of vintage Barbie doll history. The box itself, which doubles as a display box, has stood the test of time, it's not perfect but realistically, for it's age, it's quite remarkable. The outfits are the best of what I have. Everyone knows the orange sweater set always has holes in it. Please zoom in on all of the pieces. My orange sweater set is nice with a few flaws, not perfect, but the best of what I had. I sewed snaps back on a few pieces. I tied the pieces in place on the original cardboard and replaced the clear plastic. As mentioned above, the original box is not perfect and has minor wear but quite remarkable given its age. It is in very good condition, no rips or tears, see pics and zoom in. If you need perfect, please don't buy. Please review the description and pictures and ask any questions before making a decision to purchase. NO RETURNS. She has a lovely high color face with excellent color and pink/brown eyeliner. She has tiny dots of green around her ears which are easily hidden with her non-corrosive replacement earrings. She has an excellent body with mostly even toning, nice snug shoulders and hips and, aside from a dot below her left knee and heel discoloration on her left foot, no marks, chips, chews or other excessive wear. She has about 99% of her nail polish. Her original clothing comes in excellent condition showing no significant wear and her heels are nice too. NOTE: I try to take clear pictures in indirect sunlight that clearly show the item’s natural color as well as any flaws so please be sure to view the picture(s) in order to judge the condition for yourself.
