eBay This is about as good as it gets folks…. A more than complete (salesman samples?) set of Mattel Modern Furniture all in original boxes and in the original shipping box. Included are: 1 - Sofa #801, 2 - Easy Chairs #802, 1 - Coffee Table #803, 1 - Side Table w/ Lamp #804, 1 - Dining Table w/ 2 - Chairs #805, 1 - Buffet #806, 1 - Queen Bed #807, 1 - Dresser w/ Mirror #808, 1 - Open Wardrobe #809, 1 - Studio Set - 2 - Daybeds, Corner Table, Lamp #810, 1 - Studio Bed #811 In 1958 Mattel introduced a line of doll furniture for 8" to 10-1/2" dolls called "Mattel Modern Furniture." The pieces were styled after the Danish Modern furniture so popular in the 1950's. The furniture was made in Japan and crafted from wood. Soon after, Mattel Modern Furniture was discontinued and ever since collectors have searched for and coveted these little gems. These highly collectible pieces were produced in Japan in 1958 and modeled after mid-century modern Danish furniture of the period – they are made of real wood and have many original details, as the commercial says the textiles are “real decorator fabric”. This furniture was produced the year before Barbie came on the scene and although many people thought it was designed for Barbie, at 12” tall she and Ken were just too big for it. Later Barbie designed doll-houses and furniture was designed at the appropriate 1/6th scale.Check out the vintage commercial - super cool! Condition: There is some wear to various boxes and a couple of them are drawn on, there is some dried out foam rubber filling loss on some of the cushions, some minor wood separation due to age - at 65 years old, the furniture is in excellent unplayed with condition. I have been collecting modern doll furniture and dollhouses for over 25 years and this is the most complete set I have seen... eBay [phone removed by eBay] As Is.On Nov-20-23 at 08:08:16 PST, seller added the following 1958 Ponytail Number Three Barbie. My mother bought this Barbie in 1958, and I inherited it when she died. Barbie has never been played with, and has been kept in a box. She still has the ivory body color. There are holes in the bottom of her open toe white pumps, and one can see her red toenails, which match her fingernails. The brown eye shadow and lifelike eyes show her to be a Number 3 Barbie. On Nov-20-23 at 11:38:31 PST, seller added the following note that in the "Item specifics" section of the listing, there are two mistakes: this Barbie's hair is blonde, and the Time Period Manufactured should be 1950-1969. They named their company Ma-Ba, which is the first two letters of each companies name. Bandai was founded in 1950, and is now the third largest toy manufacturer in the world just behind Mattel and Hasbro.MaBa Barbie dolls were created for the Japanese market and found only in Japan. They look very similar to the Takara Barbie (and Jenny) doll, but they have a few slight differences. The MaBa Barbie is a tiny bit taller and has a slightly thinner face. Like this Barbie, first year (1986) Barbies have unique anime-style eyes.She also has different packaging from the Takara Barbie. They both say Barbie at the top of their box, but notice the company name "MaBa" in the lower right hand corner of the MaBa Barbie box.This is a rare doll in excellent condition and is complete with dress, jewelry, shoes, hat and stand.
