My aunt owned a paint store in 1959 when I was 10 years old. She also sold toys in a special section upstairs and my sister and I looked forward every year to visiting her shop and picking out things we wanted to put on our Christmas list. My birthday is in November, and the year I turned 10, she gave me one of the first Mattel Barbies made in Japan. I thought Barbie wasn’t very pretty, but I loved her clothes. She is long gone, but her outfits are alive and in excellent condition, as I became obsessed with her clothes. I would not let anyone touch my Barbie, and on every Birthday and Christmas until I became a teen, all I asked for were Barbie outfits. She had more clothes than I ever dreamed of having. Now I am 73 years old and have 2 beautiful granddaughters and 7 great nieces who love Barbie too. I would love to leave this cherished collection to my granddaughters or a great nieces, but none of them would ever value these items as I did. They would end up lost, tossed aside or in the trash. So, as much as it breaks my heart to sell these items, I feel selling them can benefit my education in the future. A few pieces were missing, like an earring or glove, but replaced by me. Five books with names of many other outfits which we have...for example, American Airlines Stewardess; Sheath Sensation; Solo in the Spotlight; Let's Dance; Cruise Striped Dress; Resort Set with tennis racket; Registered Nurse; Graduation Gown and Hat; Busy Gal; Cotton Casual; Friday Night Date; Basic Barbie Doll Fashion Model Set (the black and white striped swimsuit, two of those); After Five; Career Girl; Sweet Dreams; several mix and match; pajamas (2 pair) and a slip. Condition is very good on most things, some things and clothes are like new, some have a few flaws like a stain but these can be washed, or as on the Enchanted Evening, i think shld be dry cleaned; but on the whole everything is in very good condition, see photos, everything is in there; all of this has been owned by one person since childhood. HUGE Vtg Lot 1960's Barbie & Ken Mattel w clothes shoes accessories, case Lot
Beautiful first edition 1961? Barbie bubble cut w/Barbie (R) on her bum, brunette with bubble gum pink lips, pale fingernails and dark turquoise eyes (more indicative of 2nd edition, transitional?) with small neck bob. She is in excellent condition, with a little rub on her lips, with a very light mark on her shin, hardly noticeable, and a little rubbing on her toe nail polish. Barbie has no green ear, no dark or greasy face and no splits. She does have a few pin pricks by her right ear (shown in last two images). Ken is also a first edition in excellent condition, as well. Looks like some tiny fingernails scuffed off some hair and he has a dark spot on his lower calf. Ken has a pretty expression and great color on his face and a small flaw on his one eyebrow (looks like he came that way!).This is a large lot of clothes and accessories in good to excellent used condition. Please refer to photos as they are part of the description. Almost all items are originals that are white/black tagged (*with the exception of the black cat eyed glasses and microphone which are a licensed reproductions that I included just for fun) made in Japan. With that being said some may need a stitch or two or a snap added. Some are in need of repair. If there are doubles it's because I probably got them as a gift when I already had them, as Barbie stuff was the prefect gifts at the time. There is one outfit Sweater Girl that has a gray skirt and orange knit top that comes with knitting bowl and scissors...see the picture, now, please note I have two of these outfits, one is shown on a close up picture so don't think you're getting three outfits, just two that are shown together and the one has a broken scissors and I included the broken off piece if someone is handy and wants to glue it but there is included a pair of scissors that are not broken as well. I am also including reproduction clothes hangers, a bag of Barbie shoes and a bag of Jewelry as you can see in the pictures. All Ken clothing in pictures as shown, some have doubles...Note Ken's bathrobe has slippers and even has the bar of soap!!!! Some of the Ken shoes may be reproductions, I don't know..there is a possibility you may run across a pair or pants or shirt that is not Mattel made as my mothers friend made some clothes for my dolls now and then but you will know this as it would not have the Ken tag..I think all the pieces are original Ken but can't remember after 60+ years. VINTAGE BARBIE 60s After Five 0934 Dressed Barbie In Box
Barbie is the dressed up version. Box has some wear to it as seen. The one corner is split as pictured. The doll is in good shape. The head need to be attached. The doll is missing a shoe but has one. Has the booklet and stand. Has the hat as well. Plastic cover present but has some wear. Pictures of the face and ears are present.
