#1 Ponytail Barbie #850 1959 One owner, my mother who became a fashion merchandiser and lampshade designer. She loved this doll and it comes with many original partial outfits, detailed below. She even had some outfits handmade for this doll, in 1960, which we're including as part of this dolls story. The doll was purchased in 1959-1960 for my mom when she was eleven by her older sister from Uncle Tom’s Toys (now Tom’s Toys) at 682 Higuera Street in San Luis Obispo, California, and Tom's is still in business. All of the other outfits were also purchased around the same time. Original #850 Zebra Swimsuit outfit:One piece black and white zebra striped swimsuit Includes black open toe heeled shoes with holes, white sunglasses with blue lenses, and her gold tone hoop earrings 1959 Partial Outfits #921 floral petticoat 1959: Petticoat only #969 suburban shopper outfit 1959: Dress, sun hat and very fun Woven bag with fruit. (Aluminum clips on the hat lost their spring, but could be replaced) #961 evening splendor 1959: Gold and White Strapless Brocade Dress, Matching Gold and White Fur trimmed Coat Fur and Pearl Trimmed Headband, Green Corduroy Clutch Purse (White Satin Lining), Does not include: Brown Open Toe Heels, Short White Gloves, Matching earrings, White Hankie, Graduated Pearl Necklace. #972 wedding day 1959: Wedding Dress, veil, wrist corsage, Pearl necklace, Bouquet only. Not included: gloves, thigh corsage. #973 sweet dreams pink 1959: Shorts and Skirt, and Diary. Clock not included. Shorts are stretched out. Her original cardboard box, and booklet is not included. The doll is made of heavy vinyl plastic, partially solid body with excellent original skin tone color. Bottom of right foot marked JAPAN. See images for Barbie mark. Blonde saran ponytail hair & curly bangs. Pointy ^ ^ eyebrows like lightening bolts, side glancing eyes with white irises, and hand painted face. Closed red painted mouth. Brass metal cylinders in feet, that fit onto the stainless pins on the black Bakelite stand which has two chips, with Mattel Deboss. This allows her to stand "on her own feet." Original #1 1959 Vintage Blonde ponytail Barbie with all accessories
eBay It is time to sell my older sister's #1 Barbie that she received in 1959. She is all original, never really played with, only used to make clothes for my Barbie later on. Her ponytail will need some care, the rubber bands have disintegrated over time and the ponytail has lost its curl. Her hair has never been cut, it just appears a bit shorter than usual because it is "fluffed". Her makeup is totally original, and in excellent condition. All nail and toenail polish is still there, one of the few flaws I see with her is from red shoes she has worn, there is some red on her feet from these. Absolutely no green ear at all. All joints are tight She does have a stain on her thigh, very light. The stand has a small piece broken out of one side, but doesn't show when that side is turned to the back. She doesn't have her original box anymore, the right lid was switched over the years, but she does have her booklet, (written in and some tears to pages) original black shoes with holes, earrings, sunglasses in excellent shape, stand and swimsuit. I even have extra black shoes I will send with her.I will pay shipping and insurance and double/triple box her. She is the best #1 Barbie I have seen on eBay recently, with the fewest flaws! Vintage VHTF #1 Blonde Ponytail Barbie Doll Zebra Suit Sunglasses Shoes 1959
Relisting this beauty after another cancellation. Serious offers only, please. Amazing Vintage Original #1 Blonde Barbie Doll No. 850 from 1959 wearing her original zebra stripe swimming suit & gold hoop earrings. She comes with her original cat eye sunglasses and black mules with holes She has all her blonde hair with no missing plugs in it's original factory ponytail. Her bangs look beautiful and curly. The ends of her pony seems to be fused together a bit. I didn't try to brush it out. She has her original hand painted face paint which is gorgeous. She has the arched #1 brows. No neck splits and no green ear. Her body is in excellent condition. It’s the correct solid TM body with the holes in her feet. It does look like the metal rods are sticking out a little from her foot bed and one has what looks like the prong of a #1 stand broken off inside the hole. She has faded to a fairly even ivory color. No loose limbs. She has all her red nail polish with little to no rubbing. She's marked Barbie on her bottom but the TM molding is a bit hard to see. She's also marked JAPAN crosswise in a "little rectangle" on her right foot. She does have some purple marks on her feet from wearing her shoes for many years. Please take a look at the photos. She is wearing her original zebra stripe swimming suit. No holes, stains or odors. Just some minor age related wear. She comes with her original blue lens sunglasses and #1 black mule shoes with holes in the bottoms. Since the pipes in her feet are sticking out a little, I had to work the shoes off...and now they don't really want to go back on. I'll let you decide how to proceed. The shoes themselves have no splits and the left is marked Japan on the bottom. I feel like they are more purply black after having leeched color into Barbie's feet all these years (oh my) and have some minor scratches on the foot beds from me taking them off. #1 Blonde Vintage Ponytail Barbie 1959 All Original Rare Doll VHTF TM Box!
In overall outstanding condition and a beautiful example of this rare and HTF dollAll paint is original! No touch-ups on the face or fingers or toes.No green ear - EVER.No haircuts. Hair is not damaged, has lots of curly bangs and is still in the original set! The topknot is original with the original band. The bottom hard curl has softened up over the years but retains most of it's shape and the bottom band has been replaced to hold the style.Barbie's body is mostly a very even tan! She's retained most of her color aside from a spot I saw on the back of leg (see photo) I did not notice any other striking differences in her color. I believe both of the metal tubes are there but one looks like it's pushed up inside the leg.Barbie comes with her TM booklet, her number 1 black mules with holes in the soles, her iconic white sunglasses, hoop earrings original box, neck liner and a leaflet on bending the legs. The box has some shelf wear with some corner repairs and a couple of splits but it displays beautifully. DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT KNOW THE PROVENANCE OF THE NECK LINER OR THE LEAFLET. THE HOLY GRAIL OF BARBIE COLLECTING! Lovely vintage, 1959, Brunette #1 Ponytail Barbie doll with all original face paint. She has a beautiful, evenly faded body; no nips, chews, green ear or neck splits. Her face is lovely. Her hair is full and thick and even has original curl at the end of her ponytail. Her top knot has been retied. Her original face paint is wonderful; she has the tiniest amount of paint missing from her top lip which does not detract from her at all. She will come with her original T.M. box, T.M. booklet with Roman Holiday, Easter Parade and Gay Parisienne outfits, original shoes, swimsuit and sunglasses, and repro earrings and stand. The box is very nice with bright graphics. Everything about this girl is spectacular. I think it would be hard to find a nicer brunette #1 Ponytail Barbie than this doll. Beautiful Vintage #1 Ponytail Barbie Doll 1959 One Owner OG Stand & Collection!
RARE FIND! Number One Blonde Ponytail Barbie with the Original Early Fashions, Pronged TM Mattel #1 Stand Accessories and Case Little nine year old Alice received the first issue Barbie teenage fashion doll for Christmas in 1959. Mattel’s Barbie had just made her debut at the International Toy show in New York. This is a rare opportunity to own a very special number one Barbie with the original “one owner” childhood collection. It includes many early fashions, complete with the jewelry and accessories This Ponytail Barbie is stunning with her cute upturned nose and signature ponytail. She has dramatic lightning shaped eyebrows and handpainted makeup ; blue side glancing eyes, blue eyeliner, smoky eye shadow, coral red lips, red fingernails and toenails. She’s truly stunning and in remarkable condition for being 64 years old. She is 99% original and retains most of her original factory characteristics This number one blonde ponytail has the extended hairline, which is different from the number threes and later dolls. She is very unusual and rare in that she has two distinctly different hairlines from left to right. Her right side is curved and differs from the straighter hairline on the left. She is wearing her original hairstyle set with the top knot and hard curl at the bottom. The ponytail has been retied with matching colored thread as the band was shot. Her hair is uncut and she has no missing plugs. She has a flocked scalp, silky floss hair in baby chick yellow, full poodle bangs with well defined curls and a cute spit curl on her forehead. Her make up is excellent. as is the the nail and toenail polish. She has all of the correct markings on her bottom; Mattel Barbie TM, 1958 in Roman numerals, pat pending and the number 65. She is marked Japan on the bottom of one foot. Her limbs are nice and tight, but she is able to hold any pose. Her neck moves freely, and there are no issues. She has beautiful and even creamy, pale pinkish ivory body color which is amazing as I e usually sees a in e sort of fading . She has beautiful straight legs with the desired daylight shown only between the thigh and knee , and knee and ankle…A sign of classical beauty with models. She has holes in each of her feet with the original copper tubes present. And she even has her original Mattel TM two prong stand which is very valuable! She has had very minor work done.. a professional restoration to her right pinky and a little touch up to her eyelash ridges. There was also one teeny pinpoint freckle on her left leg just below the knee that has been touched up to match the body color . If you look closely at the photos, you will see how gorgeous this doll is. I have not seen one in original condition that is this outstanding. Barbie has a boyfriend , Ken, who will be listed in a separate listing. Blonde Barbie comes with her original iconic black and white swimsuit, white cat, eyeglasses, black, OT mules with holes. Thankfully her feet do not have any of the staining that is typical with these Barbies. She also has her original gold bangle, hoop earrings! One hole per ear and no green ear! How perfect is this girl?! She is FABULOUS! It was so fun to find Barbie in her original little nest with all the fun boxes and precious accessories that Alice had lovingly kept and preserved. You can tell that this Barbie was truly loved and treasured. Alice did not let other children touch or play with her doll :-)*** This collection would not be complete without a photo of little Alice in December of 1959 around the time that she received this Barbie for Christmas. VINTAGE 1959 BRUNETTE #1 PONYTAIL BARBIE DOLL WITH ORIGINAL TM BOX AND IS NOT INCLUDEDUp for sale is a SPECTACULAR brunette #1 Barbie; she is the holy grail of Barbie collecting. This gal has all original paint that is in amazing condition. Her hair is thick and full; I do not see any missing plugs. Her bangs are very nice and she still has some curl at the end of her ponytail. Her top knot has been retied.Her body is also very nice. She has retained much of her color; she has very nice coloring. She has both tubes in her feet. They protrude so it is difficult to get her shoes on over the tubes. She is not missing any digits, has no chews, no green ear and no foul odors. She does have a few dings/spots here and there, but nothing that takes away from her.Her TM box is very nice; the graphics are bright. One corner has been repaired and one end is a little faded. Her TM booklet is very nice; her #1 open toed shoes are very nice. I did not want to put them on her and cause a split on the top of the shoe. This gal and her accessories are near mint; not perfect but extremely nice. Her earrings may be reproductions The stand is not included. (Condition: Pre-Owned)

Vintage HTF #1 Original Brunette Barbie Doll Zebra Suit Holes in Feet 1959
Vintage and very hard to find original #1 Brunette Barbie Doll with her black and white swimming suit from 1959. I was so excited to find her. She has all her original face paint with no touch ups. How pretty are those arched brows? Her lips have naturally faded to an orangey-red color. No green ear or neck splits. Her hair is in it's original ponytail with no missing plugs I can find. Her bangs are still very curly, although a touch all over the place. The ponytail is a little on the loose side and the ends seem to have lost some curl. You could totally restyle it if you'd like. I gave her a new lower elastic. Her body is in excellent condition. No loose limbs. She has all her original red finger and toe nail polish with just a little minor wear. There are just a few spots that look to me like they were from the original molding process- light indents on her right arm, a couple lines on the left arm and a raised spot on the back of her right calf. The color from her shoes has seeped into her feet giving them purple shoe shaped marks. This seems to happen with #1s and #3s who have been wearing their shoes for 50+ years. She has holes in both of her feet to accommodate the #1 stand. It looks like the copper tube on her right hole is pushed up inside about 1/8" from the bottom of her foot. The left is sticking out slightly. She's marked Japan lengthwise on the bottom of her right foot and Barbie TM on her bottom. Please see the photos as part of her description. (Condition: Pre-Owned)
