1960 Vintage #3 Blond Ponytail Barbie, Brown Eyeliner, w/Extras, Original Owner
My treasure is your great find with this early Mattel number 3 Barbie!This all original vintage #3 Blond Ponytail Barbie with blue eyes and brown eyeliner has been safely stored for more than 60 years. I am the original owner. As a child, I was very careful with my Barbie and she is in excellent vintage condition. She was gently handled and well cared for. Always in a smoke free home. She comes with the original zebra striped bathing suit, black mules and white sunglasses which are missing one arm. Although Barbie is the real find here... she also comes with eleven outfits and the storage trunk box she has rested in for decades. Most of the clothes are in excellent condition but missing a few accessories as you can see in the photos. There are also some rare items like a blue bubble dress and Barbie's tiny vinyl record, titled, "No Thank You."Her face paint, lipstick, delicate cheek blush, nail polish, and toenail polish are all 100% original with no touch ups, rubs, or missing paint! Her soft shiny hair is beautiful with poodle bangs and the original top knot. The original hair band on her pony tail broke while I was photographing her so I replaced it. She has all of her original hair with no missing plugs or cut pieces.She has JAPAN lengthwise on the bottom of her right foot. And an "O" is slightly visible on her other foot where I wrote my initial. She has some discoloration on one foot from the shoe.Her solid body is clean. She has all her fingers and toes. Her neck and torso have faded slightly to a lighter ivory color. The Mattel marking is clear on her tush but she has some discoloration on her right cheek. (See photo)Her left leg doesn't move and I didn't want to force it. But her right leg, arms and head move as they should with tight joints. She has a tiny pin point speck of green behind each earing which is barely visible. (See photo)Barbie's clothing outfits are all original from about 1960 and include the Nighty Negligee, Sweater Girl, Suburban Shopper, Registered Nurse, Resort Set, Picnic Set, Golden Girl, Peachy-Fleece Coat, Plantation Bell, American Airlines Stewardess and Solo in the Spotlight. Vintage 1960 #3 Barbie Doll Collection Ken, Midge, Fashion Queen, Clothes, Acces
U.S. Sales OnlyThis wonderful collection was purchased by me in 1980 at an estate sale in a small town in rural Missouri. I have kept the pieces together since then, but now it's time to let it go.Everything is vintage original - no reproductions Lot includes 1960 #3 blonde ponytail Barbie doll, brunette 1961 #1 flocked Ken doll, the first 1963 Midge doll and a 1963 Fashion Queen Barbie with her three wigs, numerous outfits and accessories that have had very little, if any, play, and the majority of which are in clean, crispy near mint to mint condition. Also included are three fashion booklets, numerous plastic hangers, 2 vinyl cases and the four doll stands Description notes:1960 #3 Barbie has the harder to find blue eyeliner. The tip of her right brow was light and has been lightly touched up. She has a tiny scuff on the bridge of her nose (see photo #14), not really noticeable unless you're looking for it. There is a small brown spot in the vinyl on her left upper torso below the arm (see photo #16). Her legs have paled just a bit over the years but have never been replaced or exchanged. Her blonde ponytail is long, soft and full with no trims or missing plugs. All limbs are tight. No green or neck splits. Original b/w swimsuit, glasses and shoes.1961 1st Ken doll, nm, with flocked brunette hair. No rubs on his flocking. Original swim suit and sandals.1963 1st early Brunette Midge doll, nm. Has the googly eyes common to some of the earliest Midges, and a wide stance. The pink top of her original swimsuit is in fair condition with a run on the back and seam out around the bottom.1963 Fashion Queen Barbie nm with original turban and swimsuit. The teeth of the zipper on her swimsuit are off track and don't interlock, but the zipper goes up and down to connect at top and bottom.The two cases have average wear; tape has been added to the right side of the pink case.Numerous original Barbie and Ken clothing and accessories in crisp, clean, nm/mint condition. Most appear to have never been played with, and most outfits are complete or nearly so. Large numbers and variety of original shoes. This is a Used Pre-owned Vintage Lot of Original 1960s Barbie dolls, TM black label clothing sets, double doll cases and other related Barbie items. Many of these early Barbie items are valuable and very collectible. Included are 6 early Barbie, Ken & Allan dolls, 25 Barbie ensembles and 13 Ken outfits. Items included are everything shown in the pictures, except stands. Original packaging is not included. The items in this lot are pre-owned, used, and gently played with They come from my personal collection and a non-smoking environment. Condition of most of the items included is good to excellent, though some may have slight flaws, such as loose threads. Most items contain original TM black tag labels. 1960 Vintage Early #3 Blond Ponytail Barbie, Brn eyeliner, w/outfits, OrigOwner
This early Mattel number 3 Barbie is all original with no touchups!I am the original owner. She was my first Barbie. She is not perfect but still a wonderful example of this beautiful iconic doll. She was gently handled and stored for more than 60 years in a smokefree home. She comes with the original zebra striped bathing suit, black mules and white sunglasses.I have included 7 outfits with accessories and the storage trunk box in which she has been stored. Most of the clothes are in excellent vintage condition but missing a few accessories as you can see in the photos. There are also two original Mattel Barbie dress patterns packages from 1961. The packages are opened but the patterns were never used. Her face is still gorgeous. The paint, luscious red lipstick, blue eyes and delicate brown eye shadow are all 100% original with no touch ups, rubs, or missing paint! The red polish on her fingers and toes shows a little rub off. (See photos.)She has all of her original hair with no missing plugs or cut pieces. She has nice poodle bangs and the original top knot. The original hair band on her ponytail was in fragments when I took her out of the storage case so I replaced it. She has JAPAN on the bottom of her foot in a rectangle. I was told by someone more knowledgeable than I, that indicates an early version of #3. Her overall skin is quite even. The Mattel marking is clear on her tush but she has some discoloration where her legs have been for so many years. She has all her fingers and toes. She has a few almost imperceptible scratches on her legs that don't show in photos. Her head, arms and legs all move well and the joints are tight. I tried to note in the list if there was anything wrong with each outfit. The rest are stain free with very little flaws. Nearly all of them don't come with accessories if they were supposed to have any. What you see in the pictures is what you are getting. As for the dolls some of the fingers are missing and some of the heads have tears in the necks. I know one of the heads is Quick Curl Kelley with Steffie face. The brunette heads are from Hair Fair and another one is Growin Pretty Hair Barbie. The hinges on the suitcases are broken and were held together with tape. Dolls and cases are in the condition I purchased them in with the exception of wiping down the Ponytail cases. - Ken in Mexico (1963) Blue Eyes, Flocked Brunette Hair (patchy around the crown of the head.) Original paint on face, some light wear on eyebrows. Bottom of right foot stamped Japan. Light marks on tip of nose. Non-bending joints, Joints are mostly tight, arms are a touch loose. No bite marks on feet but possibly on hands, (not terrible, but some blemishes there.) - "Ken in Mexico" outfit looks complete, pants have little intact stirrups, has original black cowboy boots and paper insert. (There is also an insert for Barbie in Mexico but no doll or clothes found.) - Original Ken (1960) Bottom stamped Hawthorn CA USA. Painted on blonde hair shows some wear around the crown of the head. Face paint is original and looks great. No chew marks. Some discoloration on shoulders. Joints are loose, do not bend. - 1960s Brunette Bubblecut Barbie. Red lips and a sideways glance. All original paint on face, fingers and toes (some nails missing paint due to age.) No chew marks. Bottom of right foot stamped "Japan." There are two small cuts on the back of her right arm/hand. Vintage Transitional Barbie or #3 Brunette Ponytail Braid + Box, Book & Stand
Here is a vintage 1960 ponytail Barbie #3 with factory braid, or possibly a transitional Barbie with two skin tones (white legs with pink arms and body) and brunette ponytail braid. I’m not sure if she’s a 3 with legs fading faster than the rest of her body, or if she’s a transitional Barbie (her legs are very white compared to the rest of her body). She does seem to smell like Crayola crayon. This Barbie includes a wire stand (without base), Barbie only booklet, box, outfit, intact hoop earrings, shoes and of course, the doll herself. The doll's hair is dark brown mohair with very soft tiny curl curls for bangs. She has blue eyes, painted fingernails and toenails and orange-red lipstick. Disclaimer: I apologize that some of the photos were taken with the wrong stand- the larger Ken doll stand. I didn’t know it was the wrong stand when I took the photos. The Correct wire stand, which does fit under her arms correctly, will be included with this doll but it is missing the bottom piece. You could could easily drill a hole in a block of wood to anchor it into. The box will also need some TLC where the edges have come apart over time. (Condition: Pre-Owned)
