#1 Ponytail Barbie #850 1959 One owner, my mother who became a fashion merchandiser and lampshade designer. She loved this doll and it comes with many original partial outfits, detailed below. She even had some outfits handmade for this doll, in 1960, which we're including as part of this dolls story. The doll was purchased in 1959-1960 for my mom when she was eleven by her older sister from Uncle Tom’s Toys (now Tom’s Toys) at 682 Higuera Street in San Luis Obispo, California, and Tom's is still in business. All of the other outfits were also purchased around the same time. Original #850 Zebra Swimsuit outfit:One piece black and white zebra striped swimsuit Includes black open toe heeled shoes with holes, white sunglasses with blue lenses, and her gold tone hoop earrings 1959 Partial Outfits #921 floral petticoat 1959: Petticoat only #969 suburban shopper outfit 1959: Dress, sun hat and very fun Woven bag with fruit. (Aluminum clips on the hat lost their spring, but could be replaced) #961 evening splendor 1959: Gold and White Strapless Brocade Dress, Matching Gold and White Fur trimmed Coat Fur and Pearl Trimmed Headband, Green Corduroy Clutch Purse (White Satin Lining), Does not include: Brown Open Toe Heels, Short White Gloves, Matching earrings, White Hankie, Graduated Pearl Necklace. #972 wedding day 1959: Wedding Dress, veil, wrist corsage, Pearl necklace, Bouquet only. Not included: gloves, thigh corsage. #973 sweet dreams pink 1959: Shorts and Skirt, and Diary. Clock not included. Shorts are stretched out. Her original cardboard box, and booklet is not included. The doll is made of heavy vinyl plastic, partially solid body with excellent original skin tone color. Bottom of right foot marked JAPAN. See images for Barbie mark. Blonde saran ponytail hair & curly bangs. Pointy ^ ^ eyebrows like lightening bolts, side glancing eyes with white irises, and hand painted face. Closed red painted mouth. Brass metal cylinders in feet, that fit onto the stainless pins on the black Bakelite stand which has two chips, with Mattel Deboss. This allows her to stand "on her own feet." Beautiful Vintage #1 Ponytail Barbie Doll 1959 One Owner OG Stand & Collection!
RARE FIND! Number One Blonde Ponytail Barbie with the Original Early Fashions, Pronged TM Mattel #1 Stand Accessories and Case Little nine year old Alice received the first issue Barbie teenage fashion doll for Christmas in 1959. Mattel’s Barbie had just made her debut at the International Toy show in New York. This is a rare opportunity to own a very special number one Barbie with the original “one owner” childhood collection. It includes many early fashions, complete with the jewelry and accessories This Ponytail Barbie is stunning with her cute upturned nose and signature ponytail. She has dramatic lightning shaped eyebrows and handpainted makeup ; blue side glancing eyes, blue eyeliner, smoky eye shadow, coral red lips, red fingernails and toenails. She’s truly stunning and in remarkable condition for being 64 years old. She is 99% original and retains most of her original factory characteristics This number one blonde ponytail has the extended hairline, which is different from the number threes and later dolls. She is very unusual and rare in that she has two distinctly different hairlines from left to right. Her right side is curved and differs from the straighter hairline on the left. She is wearing her original hairstyle set with the top knot and hard curl at the bottom. The ponytail has been retied with matching colored thread as the band was shot. Her hair is uncut and she has no missing plugs. She has a flocked scalp, silky floss hair in baby chick yellow, full poodle bangs with well defined curls and a cute spit curl on her forehead. Her make up is excellent. as is the the nail and toenail polish. She has all of the correct markings on her bottom; Mattel Barbie TM, 1958 in Roman numerals, pat pending and the number 65. She is marked Japan on the bottom of one foot. Her limbs are nice and tight, but she is able to hold any pose. Her neck moves freely, and there are no issues. She has beautiful and even creamy, pale pinkish ivory body color which is amazing as I e usually sees a in e sort of fading . She has beautiful straight legs with the desired daylight shown only between the thigh and knee , and knee and ankle…A sign of classical beauty with models. She has holes in each of her feet with the original copper tubes present. And she even has her original Mattel TM two prong stand which is very valuable! She has had very minor work done.. a professional restoration to her right pinky and a little touch up to her eyelash ridges. There was also one teeny pinpoint freckle on her left leg just below the knee that has been touched up to match the body color . If you look closely at the photos, you will see how gorgeous this doll is. I have not seen one in original condition that is this outstanding. Barbie has a boyfriend , Ken, who will be listed in a separate listing. Blonde Barbie comes with her original iconic black and white swimsuit, white cat, eyeglasses, black, OT mules with holes. Thankfully her feet do not have any of the staining that is typical with these Barbies. She also has her original gold bangle, hoop earrings! One hole per ear and no green ear! How perfect is this girl?! She is FABULOUS! It was so fun to find Barbie in her original little nest with all the fun boxes and precious accessories that Alice had lovingly kept and preserved. You can tell that this Barbie was truly loved and treasured. Alice did not let other children touch or play with her doll :-)*** This collection would not be complete without a photo of little Alice in December of 1959 around the time that she received this Barbie for Christmas. RARE 1959 Original Vintage #1 Brunette Ponytail Barbie Doll with clothes. This was my wife's 10th birthday present in 1959, and she has kept it lovingly ever since. This Barbie is in very good condition. She has the holes in her feet to hold her up in the included original stand (which has a cosmetic chip on the back side). The copyright marking is visible on her right buttock. Her right foot has the word JAPAN on the bottom.She has white irises and sharply arched eyebrows. All of her features are original. Her ponytail has never been taken down. This is the exact model shown on the Wikipedia page about the introduction of Barbie at the American International Toy Fair on March 9, 1959, Barbie's official birthday. Vintage 1959 #1 Barbie Blonde Ponytail & Original Pronged Stand
I have recently acquired a vintage Barbie collection and will be listing various dolls, clothing and accessories within the next few months.This listing is for a vintage #1 Blonde Ponytail Barbie from 1959. She comes with her original pronged stand for display as well as her black and white zebra striped swimsuit, hoop earrings and black mules with the holes (one shoe marked JAPAN).The rubber band holding her ponytail has deteriorated. She has the iconic black and white irises and beautiful makeup as well as complete fingernail and toenail polish. Her legs are stiff. She has been on her stand for many years in that position so I didn't want to force them. She has the metal tubes in her feet. One is a little higher up than the other but they are both there. There is some color transfer on the bottoms of her feet from her mules. Her body is made of a heavy plastic and some areas have turned white over the years which is typical for this doll. She may be able to be cleaned however, I will leave that to the new owner. She is marked "Barbie, Pats Pend, ©MCMLV111, by Mattel Inc".This Barbie is definitely the holy grail. She is the holy grail of Barbie collecting. Her face paint is gorgeous! She has a few pin pricks on the side of her face, but they do not detract at all.Her ponytail has been retied and her hard curl restored. Her ponytail is thick; her bangs are a little thin but still ok. I do not see any missing plugs.Her body has faded to a very nice, pale color; not ghostly. She has no green ear, no foul odors, and the tubes in both feet are present. The tubes do not protrude like most do, so you can get her shoes on. Most tubes protrude beyond the foot which makes the shoes impossible to get on. Japan is written across the bottom of her right foot, she has a nice stance, and holds all poses well. The nail polish on her right hand is all original, the polish on her left hand has been touched up. The tips of her toes have had some repair, I'm not sure what because you cannot see any repair from the bottom. I almost did not notice that she had some repair to her toes.She will come with her original TM box which has seen better days. The top has taped ends and one side has been taped; the bottom is a reproduction. The shoes are nice, the booklet is perfect, the sunglasses have a broken arm (one is shorter than the other, but they still work fine), the swimsuit is a little loose on top. RARE VINTAGE 1959 ORIGINAL #2 PONYTAIL BARBIE DOLL AND TM BOX - ALL ORIG PAINT!
Lovely #2 Ponytail Barbie doll with all original paint. She has a beautiful, evenly faded body; no nips, chews, green ear or neck splits. Her face is very pretty. Her hair is missing a two plugs on the back of her neck under her ponytail; it is hard to see and does not detract from her. Her bangs are nice; her ponytail has been retied and her hard curl restored. She will come with her original #2 T.M. pedestal stand made from a #1 two-pronged stand. The true #2 stands are very different from the later pedestal stands: the hole for the wire is actually in one of the locations where a prong would have been on the #1 stand. The later pedestal stands have the hole farther back on the stand. If you look at the bottom of the pedestal base on a #2 stand, you will see where the two prongs for the #1 stand would have been. She will also come with her original T.M. box (one end slightly faded), zebra striped swimsuit, open toed sandals, and cat eye sunglasses. She would be a wonderful addition to anyone's collection. This to be an original #2 pony-tail Barbie doll from 1959. She is in excellent condition. black and white striped swimsuit, white sunglasses with blue lens and black shoes. The hair is in good condition, missing the binding for the ponytail.

Five books with names of many other outfits which we have...for example, American Airlines Stewardess; Sheath Sensation; Solo in the Spotlight; Let's Dance; Cruise Striped Dress; Resort Set with tennis racket; Registered Nurse; Graduation Gown and Hat; Busy Gal; Cotton Casual; Friday Night Date; Basic Barbie Doll Fashion Model Set (the black and white striped swimsuit, two of those); After Five; Career Girl; Sweet Dreams; several mix and match; pajamas (2 pair) and a slip. Accessories: cooking (apple, Barbie tray, orange juice (2), spatula, spoon, rolling pin); soap; ten hats; nine purses; 31 hangers; 18 pairs of shoes, various colors; the pink phone; a Barbie design portfolio; as well as more accessories, stockings, tights; white and black gloves, long and short, 2 rabbit stoles, (one is missing a hook), 9 purses. The white box says TM Lic., by Mattel, Inc. 1961--there are two circles, mostly black; the larger black one with Solo on it (here in a brown dress, we have the black one), says R in a circle TM Lic., & C in a circle, by Mattel Inc. 1962. Condition is very good on most things, some things and clothes are like new, some have a few flaws like a stain but these can be washed, or as on the Enchanted Evening, i think shld be dry cleaned; but on the whole everything is in very good condition, see photos, everything is in there; all of this has been owned by one person since childhood. One of the books has marks which we think showed her mother and grandmother what had been bought so they knew what to choose from next. (Condition: Pre-Owned)

Vtg Side-Part American Girl Barbie Original Box, Rare Green Ribbon & Hair String
Stunning original long haired side-part American Girl Barbie in her original box, with original htf green ribbon, her hair string, gold wire stand, turquoise Japan heels, striped swimsuit, catalog and box. Her hair is the double roll, thick and wavy hair. It is full and she has no missing plugs. Her makeup and fingernail polish are original. She has no neck splits, nose nips, chew marks or green ear (no ear piercings). Both knees click three times and she holds a tight pose. Box is in great condition. I don't think the wire stand has ever been removed. Both top and bottom flaps are in good shape and don't look as pf they have been messed with too much. The swimsuit is untagged, but appears to be the Mattel original, somewhat of a mystery. She has a few little brown freckle looking spots on her right temple area where the string has apparently flecked. I didn't try to clean them as I didn't want to disturb her cheek color. Smoke-free home. (Condition: Pre-Owned)

eBay Stunning Original 1959 Blonde #3 Ponytail Barbie with Original Swimsuit, Sunglasses Stand Booklet and Case Fresh from a one owner estate comes this beautiful original blonde ponytail Barbie from 1959. Stock model number 850.. the original teenage fashion, model doll! She is the third issue Mattel Barbie and is in wonderful untouched original condition with no touchups. She has her original hard curl on her ponytail, which has been retied with a matching colored thread. She has that beautiful, baby chick, soft blonde floss hair with a flocked scalp. No missing plugs. And a beautiful full array of curly poodle bangs with a Darling spit curl coming down onto her forehead. She has a beautiful face with side, glancing blue eyes and blue eyeliner. This is one of the more rare versions of Ponytail Barbie as the majority of the #3’s had brown eyeliner . In the Barbie Bazaar magazine, there is a reference to some rare transitional number three Barbies, and this is one of those rare Barbies. For the most part she has even pinkish Body color, some very light fading from her waist to her upper torso no doubt from wearing her swimsuit for many years. The third issue dolls were prone to fading almost completely to white so it is nice that this girl has retained a lot of her original color. She is simply stunning . She retains quite a lot of her fingernail polish. Her right pinky has a darkened tip but no damage. Wonderful original make up with some fading to the lips and a little area at the very end of her left eyebrow .This girl is original with NO TOUCH UPS! And she has the heady smell of crayons ;0). No chew marks, holes or other problems to note. One whole per ear. She is on a solid TM body and has clear markings on her bottom. Number 26 on her left bottom cheek, and Barbie TM Patent Pending, 1958 in Roman numerals by Mattel Japan, Marked Japan on bottom of foot. She comes with an original stock 850 box which is in fantastic condition with very vibrant graphics. The Gay Parisienne version. It is one of the best boxes I have ever seen with virtually no fading, it almost looks new. Amazing! . There is one indented end and the date 1959 has been circled but otherwise the boxes fantastic. See pics Stock number 850, 1959 blonde . The graphics are wonderful as it shows all of Barbies early outfits. There is one tiny missing spot to the black coat on Easter Parade. Miss Barbie has her original iconic black and white striped zebra bathing suit, black open toe mule heels (marked Japan on left one) , white cat eye sunglasses with blue lenses, ponytail booklet and a Stand. Beautiful and rare Side-Part American Girl Barbie in fabulous condition with all original paint. Her body is also very nice: no chews on feet, legs bend and click into 3 positions, right arm is a little loose but still holds positions. The back of her right knee has a dark spot. Her hair is thick and full; I do not see any missing plugs. I believe the string is a replacement. She will come with the vintage striped swimsuit and open toed sandals.
