RARE 1959 Original Vintage #1 Brunette Ponytail Barbie with clothes, accesories
RARE 1959 Original Vintage #1 Brunette Ponytail Barbie Doll with clothes. This was my wife's 10th birthday present in 1959, and she has kept it lovingly ever since. This Barbie is in very good condition. She has the holes in her feet to hold her up in the included original stand (which has a cosmetic chip on the back side). The copyright marking is visible on her right buttock. Her right foot has the word JAPAN on the bottom.She has white irises and sharply arched eyebrows. All of her features are original. Her ponytail has never been taken down. This is the exact model shown on the Wikipedia page about the introduction of Barbie at the American International Toy Fair on March 9, 1959, Barbie's official birthday. See https: en wikipedia org wiki Barbie HistoryIncluded: Original zebra striped swimsuit, original gold hoop earrings, and original stand. Also included is the original issue of the Fashion Booklet. The front and back covers are detached, but present. Most of the included items of clothing are from the original catalog. In the order of the photos, they are: #963 Resort Set, #918 Cruise Stripe Dress, #912 Cotton Casual, #977 Silken Flame, #921 Floral Petticoat. The red plaid wool coat has a Barbie label from a later time. The shirt of the riding outfit is from #967 Picnic Set. The other pieces of that outfit are not labeled. The wedding dress with veil, the pioneer dress with bonnet and the cape with 2 piece dress were handmade by my wife for our daughters’ Barbies in the 1970s. Some of the shoes shown are original. Sweet Dreams #973: yellow baby doll PJ top and panties with blue bows (elastic on panties is slightly stretched out); blue hair ribbon with metal ring (hard to find); light blue open toe heels (one has pom-pom, and the other one is missing); brass clock; mirror; diary; wax apple. 9. vintage Ballerina Number 989: silver tutu; Black leotard; black tights; pink, ballet bag; ballet slippers with strings, complete and intact, very hard to find. vintage barbie doll 900 Series complete outfits-doll not included
My aunt owned a paint store in 1959 when I was 10 years old. She also sold toys in a special section upstairs and my sister and I looked forward every year to visiting her shop and picking out things we wanted to put on our Christmas list. My birthday is in November, and the year I turned 10, she gave me one of the first Mattel Barbies made in Japan. I thought Barbie wasn’t very pretty, but I loved her clothes. She is long gone, but her outfits are alive and in excellent condition, as I became obsessed with her clothes. I would not let anyone touch my Barbie, and on every Birthday and Christmas until I became a teen, all I asked for were Barbie outfits. She had more clothes than I ever dreamed of having. Now I am 73 years old and have 2 beautiful granddaughters and 7 great nieces who love Barbie too. I would love to leave this cherished collection to my granddaughters or a great nieces, but none of them would ever value these items as I did. They would end up lost, tossed aside or in the trash. So, as much as it breaks my heart to sell these items, I feel selling them can benefit my education in the future. A few pieces were missing, like an earring or glove, but replaced by me. Every outfit in this 900 series collection is clean, mint, & complete and owned by the original owner ME The collection has been stored meticulously in acid free tissue and nothing has any odor of any kind.The following items are all Original. Vintage 1960s Barbie doll Midge - extra head freckles blue eyes brunette red
1960s barbie doll marked Midge and Barbie, and also "Japan" on the bottom of the foot. The doll has brunette or black hair, ponytail style, blue eyeshadow, pearl earrings, straight legs, red painted toenails and fingernails, red lips and is in great condition. The case I bought this with also had a Midge head, freckles, strawberry blonde or reddish blonde hair. Also in nice condition, with blue eyes. It also came with a black metal doll rack, included in this auction, and the extra head is as well.On Sep-15-24 at 13:00:56 PDT, seller added the following information:I'm not a Barbie doll expert, so I've gotten the description wrong. Some of the ones that are duplicates are the rare, (different background, eye color is different than on box etc. ) These dolls have NEVER been opened and have been on the shelves shown for almost 28 years. Bought for my daughter when she was a baby and she is not a Barbie person and would like to sell so she can fix up her 1940's home that needs a lot of work. Non smoking, non pet home. 1960 Vintage Early #3 Blond Ponytail Barbie, Brn eyeliner, w/outfits, OrigOwner
This early Mattel number 3 Barbie is all original with no touchups!I am the original owner. She was my first Barbie. She is not perfect but still a wonderful example of this beautiful iconic doll. She was gently handled and stored for more than 60 years in a smokefree home. She comes with the original zebra striped bathing suit, black mules and white sunglasses.I have included 7 outfits with accessories and the storage trunk box in which she has been stored. Most of the clothes are in excellent vintage condition but missing a few accessories as you can see in the photos. There are also two original Mattel Barbie dress patterns packages from 1961. The packages are opened but the patterns were never used. Her face is still gorgeous. The paint, luscious red lipstick, blue eyes and delicate brown eye shadow are all 100% original with no touch ups, rubs, or missing paint! The red polish on her fingers and toes shows a little rub off. (See photos.)She has all of her original hair with no missing plugs or cut pieces. She has nice poodle bangs and the original top knot. The original hair band on her ponytail was in fragments when I took her out of the storage case so I replaced it. She has JAPAN on the bottom of her foot in a rectangle. I was told by someone more knowledgeable than I, that indicates an early version of #3. Her overall skin is quite even. The Mattel marking is clear on her tush but she has some discoloration where her legs have been for so many years. She has all her fingers and toes. She has a few almost imperceptible scratches on her legs that don't show in photos. Her head, arms and legs all move well and the joints are tight. She has a some tiny metallic looking specks on her chest and dark ones on her hip and right temple. Her right ear is slightly marred. There is no green visible behind her earrings. (See photos)Barbie's clothing outfits are all original from about 1960 and are in excellent vintage condition with working zippers. They include the Winter Holiday complete with accessories and the leather-like belt, wedge shoes and plaid travel bag; the Wedding Day set with white satin gown and nylon chiffon over skirt and ruffles, the blue garter belt, pearl tiara veil, shoes and gloves; Friday Night Date with tray, drinks and a straw; Barbie Q Outfit with apron, chef's hat and some utensils; Suburban Shopper, Floral Petticoat and Fashion Undergarments with brush and mirror. Vtg Barbie Wedding Day Gift Set Near Mint Condition! Complete Four Dolls Set!
This is the Barbie Wedding Day Gift Set. The Set includes bubble cut Barbie wearing Bride's Dream. Ken wearing Tuxedo. Midge is in Orange Blossom and Skipper is wearing Flower Girl. All dolls are in mint condition. No green ear! The dolls are still tied to the box. Skipper and Ken have had the ties at their feet reinforced with new string. Barbie's necklace and earrings have disintegrated over time but the original peices are included. Barbie is wearing a replacement pearl necklace that can be easily removed if you prefer. The set also includes three bouquets and the very rare ring pillow! The box has shelf wear and there is a puncture on the lid (see Skipper's face.) The box is firmly intact and displays well! The original receipt is also included. This gift set is in remarkable condition. I have treasured it , but It's time for a move to it's next adventure.
