Beautiful Vintage #1 Ponytail Barbie Doll 1959 One Owner OG Stand & Collection!

RARE FIND! Number One Blonde Ponytail Barbie with the Original Early Fashions, Pronged TM Mattel #1 Stand Accessories and Case Little nine year old Alice received the first issue Barbie teenage fashion doll for Christmas in 1959. Mattel’s Barbie had just made her debut at the International Toy show in New York. This is a rare opportunity to own a very special number one Barbie with the original “one owner” childhood collection. It includes many early fashions, complete with the jewelry and accessories This Ponytail Barbie is stunning with her cute upturned nose and signature ponytail. She has dramatic lightning shaped eyebrows and handpainted makeup ; blue side glancing eyes, blue eyeliner, smoky eye shadow, coral red lips, red fingernails and toenails. She’s truly stunning and in remarkable condition for being 64 years old. She is 99% original and retains most of her original factory characteristics This number one blonde ponytail has the extended hairline, which is different from the number threes and later dolls. She is very unusual and rare in that she has two distinctly different hairlines from left to right. Her right side is curved and differs from the straighter hairline on the left. She is wearing her original hairstyle set with the top knot and hard curl at the bottom. The ponytail has been retied with matching colored thread as the band was shot. Her hair is uncut and she has no missing plugs. She has a flocked scalp, silky floss hair in baby chick yellow, full poodle bangs with well defined curls and a cute spit curl on her forehead. Her make up is excellent. as is the the nail and toenail polish. She has all of the correct markings on her bottom; Mattel Barbie TM, 1958 in Roman numerals, pat pending and the number 65. She is marked Japan on the bottom of one foot. Her limbs are nice and tight, but she is able to hold any pose. Her neck moves freely, and there are no issues. She has beautiful and even creamy, pale pinkish ivory body color which is amazing as I e usually sees a in e sort of fading . She has beautiful straight legs with the desired daylight shown only between the thigh and knee , and knee and ankle…A sign of classical beauty with models. She has holes in each of her feet with the original copper tubes present. And she even has her original Mattel TM two prong stand which is very valuable! She has had very minor work done.. a professional restoration to her right pinky and a little touch up to her eyelash ridges. There was also one teeny pinpoint freckle on her left leg just below the knee that has been touched up to match the body color . If you look closely at the photos, you will see how gorgeous this doll is. I have not seen one in original condition that is this outstanding. Barbie has a boyfriend , Ken, who will be listed in a separate listing. Blonde Barbie comes with her original iconic black and white swimsuit, white cat, eyeglasses, black, OT mules with holes. Thankfully her feet do not have any of the staining that is typical with these Barbies. She also has her original gold bangle, hoop earrings! One hole per ear and no green ear! How perfect is this girl?! She is FABULOUS! It was so fun to find Barbie in her original little nest with all the fun boxes and precious accessories that Alice had lovingly kept and preserved. You can tell that this Barbie was truly loved and treasured. Alice did not let other children touch or play with her doll :-)*** This collection would not be complete without a photo of little Alice in December of 1959 around the time that she received this Barbie for Christmas. Large nostalgic late 50's / 60's Barbie and Ken Estate lot. 7 Dolls, **OVER 100 PIECES OF CLOTHING!!!** Multiple accessories, 4 Ponytail cases, ephemera. Dolls and cases are in the condition I purchased them in with the exception of wiping down the Ponytail cases. - Ken in Mexico (1963) Blue Eyes, Flocked Brunette Hair (patchy around the crown of the head.) Original paint on face, some light wear on eyebrows. Bottom of right foot stamped Japan. Light marks on tip of nose. Non-bending joints, Joints are mostly tight, arms are a touch loose. No bite marks on feet but possibly on hands, (not terrible, but some blemishes there.) - "Ken in Mexico" outfit looks complete, pants have little intact stirrups, has original black cowboy boots and paper insert. (There is also an insert for Barbie in Mexico but no doll or clothes found.) - Original Ken (1960) Bottom stamped Hawthorn CA USA. Painted on blonde hair shows some wear around the crown of the head. Face paint is original and looks great. No chew marks. Some discoloration on shoulders. Joints are loose, do not bend. - 1960s Brunette Bubblecut Barbie. Red lips and a sideways glance. All original paint on face, fingers and toes (some nails missing paint due to age.) No chew marks. Bottom of right foot stamped "Japan." There are two small cuts on the back of her right arm/hand. Her hair is full and thick with no flat spots. Joints are tight, no loose movements. - 1958 American Girl Doll, Titian (red) hair, sideways glance. Sadly, lots of green on the face of this one. Green has also gotten into the hair. Nice original paint on the fingers, none on the toes. No chew marks. Bendable knee joints, both function excellently. Holes in the bottom of the feet. Vintage 1977 Barbie Superstar Era "Fashion Photo Christie" 2324 in Original Box

This auction is for one of the current Holy Grails of Barbie collecting- a 1977 African American "Fashion Photo Christie" doll, in her original box. She was purchased recently from the estate of a longtime collector who kept everything neatly stored in her non-smoking home. I purchased the entire collection, and I was so excited to open a tub to find this girl lying right on top like she ruled the world. My personal collection mostly covers the 1960's and Mod era girls, and knowing what this doll sells for, I'm trying to make back some of what I paid for the girls I'm keeping.Read This- As excited as I was to find her, I did not realize until I made this listing that she has been removed from her original box and displayed, most likely by the previous owner. It does not appear that she has been played with by a child. I slid the backing holding her carefully out of the box to photograph her, and immediately noticed that the paper "camera lenses" had been punched out of the box tabs where they were printed and inserted into the lens of the camera. I also saw that neither of her feet were in the cardboard loop that normally holds them down, and she was wearing her shoes. Usually the shoes are packed separately, but I'm not sure in this case. I slid one foot carefully into the loop, and left the shoes on. I believe everything that originally came with her is present, but I'm not familiar, so please let me know if you spot something missing.The outfit is clean and sparkly, the pants still looped into the cardboard backing. She wears the amazing pink rhinestone earrings, necklace, and ring of the Superstars. Gorgeous face and reddish brown hair, and that wonderful Christie smile. There is a black plastic camera lens piece in a cellophane bag which has been opened and returned to the backing slot...not sure if something was in with it originally. Instructions have two corners ripped off, but present. I've wrapped the clear tubular stand in tissue to keep it from rattling around in the box.As nice as it is to get a doll you know is perfect because she's never been removed from her box, it's just as nice to have one that is mint, but removed by a collector...it sort of gives me permission to take her out of the box and display without the guilt, at least in my own collecting experience. Everything in this woman's collection was pristine and well cared for, even dolls that had been opened, like this.Please ask about anything you can't tell from the photos. I just wanted to let you know that I have a MIB Fashion Photo PJ (I can verify she's never been out of the box) and her paper camera lense already came attached to the camera and she too was also packaged with her shoes on!It seems like there were slight variations to the way the dolls were packaged in some cases. But with knowing what I have, I would say that the lenses and shoes are not dead giveaways that she was removed from the liner.Some Christie and PJ dolls I also noticed were packed with a camera sticker that said "Barbie Play Camera" instead of "Christie (or) PJ Play Camera". So there are definitely slight variations, perhaps in the batch they were produced in.Just some information I thought you'd find helpful from a Superstar Era collector! ?”So I did some research. I looked at several listings for the same doll on eBay, claiming to be Mint in Box, never removed. It was all over the place. Some dolls’ shoes were on, some were off. Some camera stickers said “Christie”, some said “Barbie”, even for a Christie doll. However, ALL of them had the paper lens punched out and inserted into the camera lens. It amazes me that Mattel would have done that much on the assembly line, and not leave it for the kids. With this new information, I’d say use your judgement. I no longer believe the doll has been on display, also knowing what I know about the collector I bought the doll from…she never got around to displaying much, everything was in storage tubs and her heirs said it was a shame she didn’t see much of them, that the joy was in the collecting I’m still open to opinions.
