My aunt owned a paint store in 1959 when I was 10 years old. She also sold toys in a special section upstairs and my sister and I looked forward every year to visiting her shop and picking out things we wanted to put on our Christmas list. My birthday is in November, and the year I turned 10, she gave me one of the first Mattel Barbies made in Japan. I thought Barbie wasn’t very pretty, but I loved her clothes. She is long gone, but her outfits are alive and in excellent condition, as I became obsessed with her clothes. I would not let anyone touch my Barbie, and on every Birthday and Christmas until I became a teen, all I asked for were Barbie outfits. She had more clothes than I ever dreamed of having. Now I am 73 years old and have 2 beautiful granddaughters and 7 great nieces who love Barbie too. I would love to leave this cherished collection to my granddaughters or a great nieces, but none of them would ever value these items as I did. They would end up lost, tossed aside or in the trash. So, as much as it breaks my heart to sell these items, I feel selling them can benefit my education in the future. A few pieces were missing, like an earring or glove, but replaced by me. 1960 Vintage #3 Blond Ponytail Barbie, Brown Eyeliner, w/Extras, Original Owner
My treasure is your great find with this early Mattel number 3 Barbie!This all original vintage #3 Blond Ponytail Barbie with blue eyes and brown eyeliner has been safely stored for more than 60 years. I am the original owner. As a child, I was very careful with my Barbie and she is in excellent vintage condition. She was gently handled and well cared for. Always in a smoke free home. She comes with the original zebra striped bathing suit, black mules and white sunglasses which are missing one arm. Although Barbie is the real find here... she also comes with eleven outfits and the storage trunk box she has rested in for decades. Most of the clothes are in excellent condition but missing a few accessories as you can see in the photos. There are also some rare items like a blue bubble dress and Barbie's tiny vinyl record, titled, "No Thank You."Her face paint, lipstick, delicate cheek blush, nail polish, and toenail polish are all 100% original with no touch ups, rubs, or missing paint! Her soft shiny hair is beautiful with poodle bangs and the original top knot. The original hair band on her pony tail broke while I was photographing her so I replaced it. She has all of her original hair with no missing plugs or cut pieces.She has JAPAN lengthwise on the bottom of her right foot. And an "O" is slightly visible on her other foot where I wrote my initial. She has some discoloration on one foot from the shoe.Her solid body is clean. She has all her fingers and toes. Her neck and torso have faded slightly to a lighter ivory color. The Mattel marking is clear on her tush but she has some discoloration on her right cheek. (See photo)Her left leg doesn't move and I didn't want to force it. But her right leg, arms and head move as they should with tight joints. She has a tiny pin point speck of green behind each earing which is barely visible. This listing is RESERVED for Sharon. Please do not buy this unless YOU ARE SHARON. Up for sale is an amazing vintage Barbie doll lot. This listing is HUGE so bear with me because this description is going to be a long one! PLEASE LOOK CLOSELY AT THE PICTURES. I AM HAPPPY TO PROVIDE MORE PICTURES & ANSWER QUESTIONS UNPON REQUEST. I always do my best to identify and point out flaws, but I am not a Barbie expert, so if you are unsure about something, please contact me before bidding. I always strive for 5 star feedback~ Here we go!This listing includes: 1. Blonde Barbie doll #3. This girl is beautiful! She has evenly faded to an all over soft, creamy white. Her hair is in its original set~ she does have a few flyaways. Her makeup is nice and she has brown eyeliner. She has all her fingers & toes and the red polish on the tips looks nice to me. Barbie has a pinhead size nick on her abdomen, which is circled for you to see. She has what looks to me like a mold seam (its not a crack) under one arm, I have no idea if this is something that’s actually a flaw, but I did circle it for you to view. I see one pin tip size spot on her hip (also circled), and a pin tip spot on the back of one calf (circled). She has a pin head size green ear spots that are easily covered with earrings. 2. Original TM box~ The box is not in the best condition. All the corners on the graphic half of the box have split and have been taped. There is browning on both halves of the box. The graphics also have browning. This box has been around the block, but it doesnt smell weird and its kept Barbie safe for many years! 3. Original pedestal and wire stand~ Marked with an R. There are no chips, but it does have scratches on it. The scratches can be viewed in the pictures. 4. Original TM Roman Holiday #968 outfit~ The set includes a TM coat, dress, belt, purse, glasses, shoes, hankie, and necklace. The set is missing its hat, compact, comb, and eyeglasses case. There are no rips, stains, or holes on the dress and there is no Barbie tag inside the dress. The outer fabric of the coat is free of rips, stains, or holes, but the white stripes aren’t bright white, they’ve yellowed a bit. The coat has all its buttons. I think the stripes would clean up nicely, but I don’t wash my for sale Barbie clothes, so I will leave that choice for her new owner. The red lining is in pretty decent shape for how delicate it is. There some splits on the lining, but they’re not frayed and I personally think its not a bad lining at all. If you would like pictures of the splits, I’m happy to provide them, I just didn’t have the room to include every little detail. The belt is in good condition. It has one hole, the vinyl is still pliable, and it fits Barbie like a glove. The white clutch is in good used condition. The glasses are in good used condition. The shoes are deep navy blue and they’re in good used condition. The hankie is in good condition. The pearl drop necklace appears worn. It just looks old to me. 5. Original TM Nighty Neglige #965 outfit~ This set has a robe and nightgown. The robe has loose hems on the arm cuffs but its in otherwise good shape. The nightgown is in good condition and the elastic has somehow remained stretchy! I cant tell if the bead is missing. I can feel a bead and I can see what looks like a tiny top of a bead, but it’s not an obvious bead (if that makes any sense). The felt dog is in good used condition. 6. Original TM Sweater Girl # 976 outfit~The sweaters and skirt all show wear. The outer sweater doesn’t have any big holes, but there is piling and it looks a bit fuzzy. The inner sweater is missing 1/2 of one snap and theres another snap that 1/2 of it was pulled out of the sweater. There isn’t a hole where it was but you can see the original thread that the snap was sewn on with. It also doesn’t have any big holes but it does have piling and it looks fuzzy. The skirt has two light brownish spots on it, one on the front and one on the back. These look surface to me and I’m pretty sure these would be taken care of with a spot clean. The set comes with its original knitting bowl, book, and scissors.7. Original TM Evening Splendor outfit~The dress is untagged. The zipper runs smoothly. There are a couple of metallic threads that are poking upon the bust line. The coat could use a pressingI see one pin head size spot near the bottom of the lining. Its otherwise in good used condition. 8. Untagged Clone or Homemade outfit~ Extremely cute! I added this one in because Barbie looks so beautiful in it! It comes with a fabric clutch and orange Japan Barbie mules. 9. Original Barbie booklet insert~ The back of the booklet has a hole, tape on the back, and it does not have Gay Parisienne. 10. Original earrings~ They’re unbroken, I’m not sure what else to say about them. 11. Original swimsuit~ It could use a wash to brighten the white stripes, but its otherwise fine. It comes with Barbie’s original black Japan heels and white cat eye sunglasses. This is a unique lot that would be wonderful for a collection! If you have any questions, please contact me. Vintage 1961 Mattel Barbie Doll Model #850 Brunette Bubble Cut with original box, metal wire stand, earrings, white sunglasses with gold glitter, black/white zebra bathing suit, black shoes (one marked Japan), and pink booklet. All items are original. Barbie, PATS PEND MCMLVIII by Mattel on right buttock. Beautiful turquoise eyes and red lipstick. No green ear. Hair is raven black (brunette) with tight bubble cut, red fingernail and toenail polish. Polish and lipstick in great condition and highly visible. Shows no signs of wear. Please see picture #3. Original shoes have Japan on the bottom of one shoe. Box has blue/white suburban shopper outfit on upper left side and Brunette Bubble Cut #850 label pasted on bottom of box. Some very light orange bleeding has occurred on the back of the jacket. Socks, sunglasses, balls, tennis shoes, racket and tennis rules book are in great shape. Bottom of shoes are both marked Japan. Necklace is intact and features a strand of faux pearls. Handbag closure works and handle with fruit pieces present and intact. Dress has stain on left breast area. Enchanted Evening: #983. 1960 - 1963. Original vintage outfit includes: Pink gown with train accented with a rose, white stole, white long gloves, drop faux pearl earrings, 3 strand faux pearl necklace, clear shoes. All clothing pieces in excellent shape with no holes. Drop earrings are good and intact. Necklace has come apart and needs restringing. Shoes (one marked Japan) have good glitter on heels and across toe band. Please see 9th picture.Open Road: #985. 1961 – 1962. Original vintage outfit includes: Jacket, sweater, pants, hat, red sunglasses, red strap cork wedge shoes, and map. Jacket has all brown buttons but missing the top toggle and is lightly soiled. Tan sweater is in great condition with all three snaps and no holes. Pants are great with working zipper and no holes. Straw hat has no holes in red band that ties under her chin but some fraying around the straw brim is noted. Red sunglasses are great with working hinges and red strap cork wedge shoes are great with no issues. Map has been torn and only piece remains. Please see 10th picture. American Airline Flight Stewardess: #984. 1961 - 1964. Original vintage outfit includes: White blouse, navy skirt and jacket, black over the shoulder handbag, American Airlines travel bag and navy hat. White blouse has 3 tiny buttons and a working snap. Jacket has 4 tiny buttons, a working snap and a wings insignia on left front. Skirt is straight with working snap. Hat with an AA insignia on the front is in great condition with 2 prongs, so it stays in her hair. Black handbag and travel bag are excellent with working zipper on travel bag. Razor is unused and still in cellophane wrapper. Powder puff looks unused with matching ribbon on top. Shower cap has pink and blue tassel on top. Cardboard gold colored talc box has been bent but writing on top is vivid and shows minimal wear. Set is missing comb and brush. Blue terry towel is plain, and the word "Her's" is not present. Soap and sponge have yellowed with age. Please see 12th picture. Vintage Barbie Pink Silhouette Dressed Box (Outfit Unknown)
The pink silhouette dressed box is extremely rare, as these boxes were for display purpose for stores and would usually be thrown away. This box is in pretty good condition. The top piece is still very vibrant pink. There are some rips to the paper, a big spot of tape residue where the box split, dirt, scratches and wear on a lot of the corners. Three out of the four corners were split and repaired. And so was the split where the tape residue is. It doesn’t have the piece that says what outfit. The box is the slightly bigger one, so some outfits used with this box includes Evening Splendor, Nighty Negligee, Solo in the Spotlight, Plantation Belle, Enchanted Evening and Suburban Shopper. The bottom piece is in good condition with yellowing, stains, scratches and dirt. Two of the corners were split and repaired. And the back top corner also split and was repaired my It looks like there may have been some moisture damage as well. Also there is some rippling on the inside which I don’t know the cause of. It won’t be seen once a doll is put in there, but just to note. It also has a slight bend on one side that goes out and at the bottom goes in. Other than those issues, it’s still an amazing box.
