THE HOLY GRAIL OF BARBIE COLLECTING! Lovely vintage, 1959, Brunette #1 Ponytail Barbie doll with all original face paint. She has a beautiful, evenly faded body; no nips, chews, green ear or neck splits. Her face is lovely. Her hair is full and thick and even has original curl at the end of her ponytail. Her top knot has been retied. Her original face paint is wonderful; she has the tiniest amount of paint missing from her top lip which does not detract from her at all. She will come with her original T.M. box, T.M. booklet with Roman Holiday, Easter Parade and Gay Parisienne outfits, original shoes, swimsuit and sunglasses, and repro earrings and stand. The box is very nice with bright graphics. Everything about this girl is spectacular. I think it would be hard to find a nicer brunette #1 Ponytail Barbie than this doll. I almost kept her for my collection. (Condition: Pre-Owned)

My aunt owned a paint store in 1959 when I was 10 years old. She also sold toys in a special section upstairs and my sister and I looked forward every year to visiting her shop and picking out things we wanted to put on our Christmas list. My birthday is in November, and the year I turned 10, she gave me one of the first Mattel Barbies made in Japan. I thought Barbie wasn’t very pretty, but I loved her clothes. She is long gone, but her outfits are alive and in excellent condition, as I became obsessed with her clothes. I would not let anyone touch my Barbie, and on every Birthday and Christmas until I became a teen, all I asked for were Barbie outfits. She had more clothes than I ever dreamed of having. Now I am 73 years old and have 2 beautiful granddaughters and 7 great nieces who love Barbie too. I would love to leave this cherished collection to my granddaughters or a great nieces, but none of them would ever value these items as I did. They would end up lost, tossed aside or in the trash. So, as much as it breaks my heart to sell these items, I feel selling them can benefit my education in the future. A few pieces were missing, like an earring or glove, but replaced by me. Vintage 1959 #2 Brunette Ponytail Barbie doll with TM Box, Stand, & Fashion book
I have a vintage 1959 original #2 brunette ponytail Barbie doll up for auction. She has a heavy solid body, faded almost white. She has arched eyebrows and white irises, only seen on the #1 and #2 dolls. She is a #2 so she has no holes in her feet. While not mint, she is in very good to excellent condition.The doll has no missing fingers or toes and no swingy arms or legs. Her face paint is very good. Her brunette hair is in a ponytail with original poodle curl bangs and no missing plugs. The top and bottom rubber bands on the ponytail are present, so they must have been replaced. Barbie’s head, torso and limbs are faded to the same shade. She has red nails, in very good condition. She has been stored in a smoke free home.She is 65 years old, has been displayed in clothes for years, and is not perfect. She has a small pin dot size dark mark on her upper back, near the neck, and a small (1/4 inch long) cut on the backside of her right upper arm (see photos). Some small pieces of hair appear broken off (see photos). She has light mold marks on the hips (see photo). Her color is somewhat uneven, maybe stains from clothes or exposure to sunlight. There are other minor marks and scuffs. Review the pictures carefully Barbie is marked on the right side hip: BARBIE TM PATS PEND MCMIVIII BY MATTEL INC. Vintage #3 Ponytail Barbie Doll 1959 One Owner Stand Accessories Box 850
eBay Stunning Original 1959 Blonde #3 Ponytail Barbie with Original Swimsuit, Sunglasses Stand Booklet and Case Fresh from a one owner estate comes this beautiful original blonde ponytail Barbie from 1959. Stock model number 850.. the original teenage fashion, model doll! She is the third issue Mattel Barbie and is in wonderful untouched original condition with no touchups. She has her original hard curl on her ponytail, which has been retied with a matching colored thread. She has that beautiful, baby chick, soft blonde floss hair with a flocked scalp. No missing plugs. And a beautiful full array of curly poodle bangs with a Darling spit curl coming down onto her forehead. She has a beautiful face with side, glancing blue eyes and blue eyeliner. This is one of the more rare versions of Ponytail Barbie as the majority of the #3’s had brown eyeliner . In the Barbie Bazaar magazine, there is a reference to some rare transitional number three Barbies, and this is one of those rare Barbies. For the most part she has even pinkish Body color, some very light fading from her waist to her upper torso no doubt from wearing her swimsuit for many years. The third issue dolls were prone to fading almost completely to white so it is nice that this girl has retained a lot of her original color. She is simply stunning . She retains quite a lot of her fingernail polish. Her right pinky has a darkened tip but no damage. Wonderful original make up with some fading to the lips and a little area at the very end of her left eyebrow .This girl is original with NO TOUCH UPS! And she has the heady smell of crayons ;0). No chew marks, holes or other problems to note. One whole per ear. She is on a solid TM body and has clear markings on her bottom. Number 26 on her left bottom cheek, and Barbie TM Patent Pending, 1958 in Roman numerals by Mattel Japan, Marked Japan on bottom of foot. She comes with an original stock 850 box which is in fantastic condition with very vibrant graphics. The Gay Parisienne version. It is one of the best boxes I have ever seen with virtually no fading, it almost looks new. Amazing! . There is one indented end and the date 1959 has been circled but otherwise the boxes fantastic. EASTER PARADE #971~”R” WITH NEAR MINT 1960’s GORGEOUS BARBIE IN BOX FROM THE ERA
EASTER PARADE #971~”R” (Coat), WITH NEAR MINT 1960 GORGEOUS BARBIE IN ORIGINAL BOX #850 from the era (1959)This is one of the three most desirable outfits from the 900 series. (The others are: Gay Parisienne #964 and Roman Holiday #968). This barbie is the second wave of dolls that were made after 1959, which they were marked 1959 barbie’s had the very heavy blue eyeliner and the eyes were looking to the right, but after a year or so they realized that the plastic in the face was changing the color to a very pale complexion, which made them designed the second wave of dolls, and here it comes this beautiful barbie that is marked “TM” at her buttocks. I sold the first one a few years back and her face was almost ghosty……The apple print polished cotton sheath dress (mint, never placed on a doll before), was combined with a smart black faille unlined Spring coat, with 3/4 length sleeves, (also mint). The back gathered into the yoke and the big patch pockets had self-bow accents. Other accessories were a headband hat that was a simple bow fashioned from silk organza (little fray at the bottom edges), a patent clutch bag (bead has lost luster), graduated “pearl” necklace, matching earrings (discolored with the years, 62 to be exact), short white tricot gloves (excellent, no yellow), and black open-toe pumps with the holes under; left one is marked Japan. I’m including the golden vintage stand, the 1959 booklet “TM” (the only one where this outfit appears, as well as the other two i mentioned above, extremely hard to find and very expensive), I’m also including a reference card with Barbie in this gorgeous outfit.Barbie is beautiful in her blonde ponytail with the curly short bangs, styled by the first designer that the Handlers hired in 1956, (Larry Germaine) after they realize that the Mattel’s staff expertise were not able to handle the art of hair style for Barbie doll. Later others came……. This doll has no flaws, as i show in the pictures, no chewing, no marks; all her limbs move great, nothing is lose, and the finger nails still have some soft nail polish. The bottom of the foot is marked Japan (picture #7). Her hair is not silky (as 63 years ago), but is all there. Vintage #3 Brunette Ponytail Barbie TM Box Accessories Stand Booklet
Gorgeous Mattel #3 Ponytail Barbie doll in early T.M. BRUNETTE box with original T.M. round pedestal and wire stand, early ponytail catalog that includes the Gay Parisienne and Easter Parade outfits in it, early pearl earrings, white glasses, black Japan mules and striped swimsuit, with added repro gold hoop earrings. She is in excellent condition. Her face has a textured feel to it, and she may possibly be an airbrushed version. Her lip color is intact and bright red. She has brown eyeliner. Her eyelid ridges were touched up with acrylic. She has no neck splits, nose nips or chew marks. Her legs curve slightly at the calf. Her foot has the Japan marking. She has a good color. Vintage #2 Brunette Ponytail Barbie & Easter Parade
She started out as a VERY well loved #2, with pretty much just one white iris eye left, (see last pic. She IS a #2 as seen by the white paint left in her eye) and now has a new lease on life. She actually turned out way better than I thought she would! She will display beautifully! I chose a spray set updo as the best option due to her frizzles and a few spots of slightly shorter and thinner hair. She's missing a spot of flocking at the top. Her makeup, nails can be completely removed and redone if you chose to do so as I am just a hobbyist. She had a few scuffs near and on her lips buffed out to be less noticeable (her lips still have a bit of a rougher texture). Her head turns much easier than a less played with barbie. Easter Parade was a brand new repro on card and it looks great on her. Please look at pics carefully as I can't possible point out every last minute detail. She is going to have a few discolorations and play marks. For the less picky collector, a more affordable option for a #2 than spending over $5000. (Condition: Pre-Owned)

She is in excellent condition; no green ear, neck split, or nose nips. Some of her fingers are crimped. Her lipstick is rubbed on one corner and one eyebrow has a small rub on the end.
