Beautiful Vintage #1 Ponytail Barbie Doll 1959 One Owner OG Stand & Collection!
RARE FIND! Number One Blonde Ponytail Barbie with the Original Early Fashions, Pronged TM Mattel #1 Stand Accessories and Case Little nine year old Alice received the first issue Barbie teenage fashion doll for Christmas in 1959. Mattel’s Barbie had just made her debut at the International Toy show in New York. This is a rare opportunity to own a very special number one Barbie with the original “one owner” childhood collection. It includes many early fashions, complete with the jewelry and accessories This Ponytail Barbie is stunning with her cute upturned nose and signature ponytail. She has dramatic lightning shaped eyebrows and handpainted makeup ; blue side glancing eyes, blue eyeliner, smoky eye shadow, coral red lips, red fingernails and toenails. She’s truly stunning and in remarkable condition for being 64 years old. She is 99% original and retains most of her original factory characteristics This number one blonde ponytail has the extended hairline, which is different from the number threes and later dolls. She is very unusual and rare in that she has two distinctly different hairlines from left to right. Her right side is curved and differs from the straighter hairline on the left. She is wearing her original hairstyle set with the top knot and hard curl at the bottom. The ponytail has been retied with matching colored thread as the band was shot. Her hair is uncut and she has no missing plugs. She has a flocked scalp, silky floss hair in baby chick yellow, full poodle bangs with well defined curls and a cute spit curl on her forehead. Her make up is excellent. as is the the nail and toenail polish. She has all of the correct markings on her bottom; Mattel Barbie TM, 1958 in Roman numerals, pat pending and the number 65. She is marked Japan on the bottom of one foot. Her limbs are nice and tight, but she is able to hold any pose. Her neck moves freely, and there are no issues. She has beautiful and even creamy, pale pinkish ivory body color which is amazing as I e usually sees a in e sort of fading . She has beautiful straight legs with the desired daylight shown only between the thigh and knee , and knee and ankle…A sign of classical beauty with models. She has holes in each of her feet with the original copper tubes present. And she even has her original Mattel TM two prong stand which is very valuable! She has had very minor work done.. a professional restoration to her right pinky and a little touch up to her eyelash ridges. There was also one teeny pinpoint freckle on her left leg just below the knee that has been touched up to match the body color . If you look closely at the photos, you will see how gorgeous this doll is. I have not seen one in original condition that is this outstanding. Barbie has a boyfriend , Ken, who will be listed in a separate listing. Blonde Barbie comes with her original iconic black and white swimsuit, white cat, eyeglasses, black, OT mules with holes. Thankfully her feet do not have any of the staining that is typical with these Barbies. She also has her original gold bangle, hoop earrings! One hole per ear and no green ear! How perfect is this girl?! She is FABULOUS! It was so fun to find Barbie in her original little nest with all the fun boxes and precious accessories that Alice had lovingly kept and preserved. You can tell that this Barbie was truly loved and treasured. Alice did not let other children touch or play with her doll :-)*** This collection would not be complete without a photo of little Alice in December of 1959 around the time that she received this Barbie for Christmas. The photo is included here and a printed copy along with the original provenance of this doll will come with the collection upon request Barbie will come with her original white Ponytail case , dated 1961. A couple minor tears at the seams. And her original TM #1 Ponytail fashion booklet along with the second issue with Barbie and Ken in silhouette in the cover . Vintage NO. 4 Barbie Doll with 1961 Case, & 23 Detailed Original Outfits/Extras
eBay I used all my pictures of 24 to show these and a video. Need more, just let me know. This is one of the best No. 4 Barbie and her clothes for an original 1960 doll I have ever had the honor of offering for sell. This complete set of items had one child owner who valued and loved her with it showing with the great condition everything is in. Everything you see in the pictures and video is what comes together. Video shows the rest of the outfits not in pictures, inside of case, and the doll in more detail. Doll has no green on ears, no hair damage. Each picture has the complete outfit with the items it came with. Each outfit and items with it have each been verified as original Barbie marketed wardrobe items from a variety of Barbie books that had detailed color pictures. On the index card in each picture are the details and also lets you know if anything is missing or has a known flaw. A knife, scissors, and a few necklaces are mainly the things missing. Some of the necklaces or a bracket might show as missing, but is listed under another outfit...I reference them as "floaters" among the pictures if a necklace could complete another outfit. In one outfit the gloves are missing, but there is a pair in the accessory set. All the outfits are in good condition with the exception of one....the sweater outfit. The sweater has some holes as shown in the picture and the blouse has one in front. Skirt is good and all the extra things are with it still.These items are in great condition, but are over 60 years old. Things like elastic in the outfits has gotten aged on some. A few snap threading have started to become loose even though still in place. The Solo long gown sometimes has fabric dandruff from the fabric used to make it. The clothes are clean with good color, but some of the white items have become lightly soiled looking in appearance from age. These items with care could be cleaned as well as the elastic replaced with care. A choice only a new owner should make. The case is in good condition with normal aging. Most all cases that have been played with time start to get places where the card board lining shows at seams as shown in video. The color on this 1961 pony tail Barbie case is good. This case does not have a drawer in it like some to hold shoes, hats, etc...This No. 4 brunette Barbie is BEAUTIFUL! She came with hoop earrings. She has no fading on her body like the first Issued dolls 1 through 3. All her saran hair is soft including the bangs and original with no places missing. Hair looks to not have been combed on or original pony tail removed. Notice over wrap of original hair style at pony tail start. Nail polish is still on fingers and toes. She has the vintage markings on her hip with patent pending, roman numerals, and Mattel. All these markings are shown in detail in video. She has no body damage at joints. Very clean used doll so very well taken care of. In her baggie is her shoes, sunglasses, bottom of original stand and bathing suit with her. In each picture of her outfits, I have them with the name of the outfit and extra details. EVERY ITEM has been verified from Barbie book pictures. All zippers work, cardboard insert lining is still in the chef hat in the Barbie Q set it came with, Some index cards data of being tagged clothes was after the picture of the clothes were taken. All the outfits are the first outfits ever issued for Barbie when she came on the market. In the extra's photo with the hangers, there is an original Mattel map. Some of the items in that picture look to have been placed with all the original items just because they were loose from a later family member who had no idea what it went with, but were marked as Mattel items. All the bagged clothes come in the baggie as labeled for you just as they are separated out. These items have not been tampered with as repaired, no replacements from repaired, etc Everything is in original condition and original marketed pieces, NO reproductions. All of the original items are intact with original strings and inserts. The white lace dress does have a small area of discoloration on the front right side of the attached skirt, all items are in "unplayed with" condition. I did notice a couple of pieces of glitter inside of the package, so I removed the card from the box (the card the outfit is attached to) and all seems to be in order. I am assuming the box was stored away with one of Barbie's PAK pieces with glitter. None of the items have been removed (NRFB). The box is original, not a reproduction. The color is very good - excellent color, there are however a few small water spots on the front side panels (minimal marks from handling). The cardboard does have a couple of light indentions, not deep creases; zero tears and zero repairs. The original cello has light signs of storage, yet it is absolutely free of indentions and holes. The back of the cardboard box is free of stains and writing, with both "punch outs" still intact (to hang for store display). An "X" is written in pen on one side of the box. Unfortunately the circle label is missing that notes the name of the ensemble. This listing includes the "Orange Blossom" boxed ensemble only. The props are not included. The backdrop, dance floor, decals and the assembly instructions are all there. The dance floor shows no signs of ever having been used, but there are a couple of blank spots in the printing. American Girl Era Bubble Cut OLD STORE STOCK! NIB Friend of Ponytail Barbie
This vintage very rare Bubble Cut Barbie, boxed, with all associated items, is new-in-box (NIB) that was made when Mattel started producing the American Girl Barbie doll. She is indeed NEW, but, I decided to listed her as "used," which I will mention later in this description why I am listing her as such. Found in stockroom of a store that closed in the 1960s, never put out front of store so she was never sold to the public. She is considered a "transitional" American Girl Era Bubble Cut Barbie due to her having the American Girl face and not the face on normal Bubble Cuts. She has American Girl markings on her neck rim that state: ©1958 Mattel, Inc., and she comes with a gold wire stand. Those are three attributes you see on the American Girl Barbie dolls and not on Bubble Cuts. For these reasons, this doll is an American Girl era "transitoinal" Bubble Cut Barbie doll. Earlier this year I ran across a listing exactly like my doll. That eBay seller listed this exact same doll asking $775 BIN and she sold it. What I found interesting is that other seller stated her doll was a transitional Bubble Cut made in the American Girl era as having markings on her neck that showed: ©1958 Mattel, Inc., had American Girl face, and came with a gold wire stand. This doll is same as the other seller's doll. However, I needed to view her neck rim to make sure when I list her, I am right on description for this doll. The only way for me to find was to remove her from her box, carefully remove her head from her body, and view her neck rim. This would be the first time I have ever removed her from her box! I carefully removed her from her box as to avoid putting another crease or tearing box insert and then very carefully, I removed her head. I am very happy to report, the markings of ©1958 Mattel, Inc., is indeed on the rim of her neck. However, this was when I saw a yellow substance on the inside her neck rim. This was a surprise to me. I do not know what the yellow substance is, but you need to see this substance. Of course once her head is placed back onto her body, yellow substance is hidden. My photo showing neck rim was added to this listing and is blurry, hard to even see the markings on this neck rim, but markings are there. I very carefully placed her head back onto her body and did not ruin integrity of head hole opening. There are no split(s) made in doing this investigation to this doll's neck hole opening. I have always stored her in a clear plastic zippered case not only for protection against home environment. Her box fits inside this protective case perfectly. You will receive the clear protective case too. This rare American Girl Era "transitional" Bubble Cut Barbie doll still has her wrist tag and box insert does have one staple on each side from factory. Her booklet and red Japan open toe shoes are still sealed in original cello. Now for the reason I am listing her as "used." Even though she is a NEW old store stock doll, I decided to list her as "USED" for these reasons: both her ears have greening due to wearing post earrings, her post earrings are missing, she has been removed from box, there is a super tiny tear to box insert where her feet go into the holes, there is some paint missing on her lips, there is crease in box insert located each side of her shoulders, torn off graphic on end flap that I feel was the price tag and someone removed it, and now, I just discovered that yellow substance inside her neck rim. Please know I am not the original owner of this doll. I am the second owner. I received her with her earrings removed so this doll was taken out of her box before she came to me.
