#1 Ponytail Barbie #850 1959 One owner, my mother who became a fashion merchandiser and lampshade designer. She loved this doll and it comes with many original partial outfits, detailed below. She even had some outfits handmade for this doll, in 1960, which we're including as part of this dolls story. The doll was purchased in 1959-1960 for my mom when she was eleven by her older sister from Uncle Tom’s Toys (now Tom’s Toys) at 682 Higuera Street in San Luis Obispo, California, and Tom's is still in business. All of the other outfits were also purchased around the same time. Original #850 Zebra Swimsuit outfit:One piece black and white zebra striped swimsuit Includes black open toe heeled shoes with holes, white sunglasses with blue lenses, and her gold tone hoop earrings 1959 Partial Outfits #921 floral petticoat 1959: Petticoat only #969 suburban shopper outfit 1959: Dress, sun hat and very fun Woven bag with fruit. (Aluminum clips on the hat lost their spring, but could be replaced) #961 evening splendor 1959: Gold and White Strapless Brocade Dress, Matching Gold and White Fur trimmed Coat Fur and Pearl Trimmed Headband, Green Corduroy Clutch Purse (White Satin Lining), Does not include: Brown Open Toe Heels, Short White Gloves, Matching earrings, White Hankie, Graduated Pearl Necklace. #972 wedding day 1959: Wedding Dress, veil, wrist corsage, Pearl necklace, Bouquet only. Not included: gloves, thigh corsage. #973 sweet dreams pink 1959: Shorts and Skirt, and Diary. Clock not included. Shorts are stretched out. Her original cardboard box, and booklet is not included. The doll is made of heavy vinyl plastic, partially solid body with excellent original skin tone color. Bottom of right foot marked JAPAN. See images for Barbie mark. Blonde saran ponytail hair & curly bangs. Pointy ^ ^ eyebrows like lightening bolts, side glancing eyes with white irises, and hand painted face. Closed red painted mouth. Brass metal cylinders in feet, that fit onto the stainless pins on the black Bakelite stand which has two chips, with Mattel Deboss. This allows her to stand "on her own feet." Beautiful Vintage #1 Ponytail Barbie Doll 1959 One Owner OG Stand & Collection!
RARE FIND! Number One Blonde Ponytail Barbie with the Original Early Fashions, Pronged TM Mattel #1 Stand Accessories and Case Little nine year old Alice received the first issue Barbie teenage fashion doll for Christmas in 1959. Mattel’s Barbie had just made her debut at the International Toy show in New York. This is a rare opportunity to own a very special number one Barbie with the original “one owner” childhood collection. It includes many early fashions, complete with the jewelry and accessories This Ponytail Barbie is stunning with her cute upturned nose and signature ponytail. She has dramatic lightning shaped eyebrows and handpainted makeup ; blue side glancing eyes, blue eyeliner, smoky eye shadow, coral red lips, red fingernails and toenails. She’s truly stunning and in remarkable condition for being 64 years old. She is 99% original and retains most of her original factory characteristics This number one blonde ponytail has the extended hairline, which is different from the number threes and later dolls. She is very unusual and rare in that she has two distinctly different hairlines from left to right. Her right side is curved and differs from the straighter hairline on the left. She is wearing her original hairstyle set with the top knot and hard curl at the bottom. The ponytail has been retied with matching colored thread as the band was shot. Her hair is uncut and she has no missing plugs. She has a flocked scalp, silky floss hair in baby chick yellow, full poodle bangs with well defined curls and a cute spit curl on her forehead. Her make up is excellent. as is the the nail and toenail polish. She has all of the correct markings on her bottom; Mattel Barbie TM, 1958 in Roman numerals, pat pending and the number 65. She is marked Japan on the bottom of one foot. Her limbs are nice and tight, but she is able to hold any pose. Her neck moves freely, and there are no issues. She has beautiful and even creamy, pale pinkish ivory body color which is amazing as I e usually sees a in e sort of fading . She has beautiful straight legs with the desired daylight shown only between the thigh and knee , and knee and ankle…A sign of classical beauty with models. She has holes in each of her feet with the original copper tubes present. And she even has her original Mattel TM two prong stand which is very valuable! She has had very minor work done.. a professional restoration to her right pinky and a little touch up to her eyelash ridges. There was also one teeny pinpoint freckle on her left leg just below the knee that has been touched up to match the body color . If you look closely at the photos, you will see how gorgeous this doll is. I have not seen one in original condition that is this outstanding. Barbie has a boyfriend , Ken, who will be listed in a separate listing. Blonde Barbie comes with her original iconic black and white swimsuit, white cat, eyeglasses, black, OT mules with holes. Thankfully her feet do not have any of the staining that is typical with these Barbies. She also has her original gold bangle, hoop earrings! One hole per ear and no green ear! How perfect is this girl?! She is FABULOUS! It was so fun to find Barbie in her original little nest with all the fun boxes and precious accessories that Alice had lovingly kept and preserved. You can tell that this Barbie was truly loved and treasured. Alice did not let other children touch or play with her doll :-)*** This collection would not be complete without a photo of little Alice in December of 1959 around the time that she received this Barbie for Christmas. Vintage Barbie # 2 Brunette Doll in Original Box, Swimsuit Sunglasses & More
This auction has only been running for two hours and three different eBayers have contacted me about adding a buy it now price. I would consider doing that, just send me your best offer. But… once there is a bid on this Barbie, I will not make any changes or sell it with a best offer. This is a gorgeous Barbie that is a rare No. 2 with the raised eyebrows and is a hard to find brunette.I have photos of her foot which is marked Japan and her bottom cheeks are also pictured. I dressed her in one of her favorite outfits, and after dressing her, I found her original swimsuit, pamphlet and sunglasses and white shoes. One shoe has a hole in the bottom and the other is marked Japan. She has her original earrings as well and I see no green around her ears. She has a lovely face that has sweet cheek color and red lips. I see white in the iris of her eyes. Her torso color is rather pink, and her legs are a little whiter and one leg seems to have just the very slightest green tint. The only thing I can find wrong, see last photo, is a little roughness on her toes on one foot. I see no other damage. This was owned by one little girl who took such good care of her doll clothes and Barbies, and recently sold me the lot of her loved Barbies. I will also be running Midge and Ken soon. I have many outfits that I am putting together to run on eBay as well. She will come in her original box which is in good condition. There are two smudges, see photos and one puncture mark on the brown coat, also photographed. The pamphlet has a few smudges and a crease on the back. The outfits that she had, she put a check mark by in the booklet. I will try to answer any questions that you may have. eBay RARE EARLY #2 1960 Mattel Barbie Ponytail Doll. ALL ORIGINAL FACE PAINT...HAIR.. Hello everyone...here is a beautiful rare and early Mattel Ponytail Barbie Doll. She is in need of a trip to the spa... She was well loved by some little girl long ago as she has signs of play. Her rooted hair was in a mess when I got her, and I've never had her restored. I just coiled her long hair and tied it up at the back of her head....... She has gorgeous arched eyebrows, beautiful painted eyes with white irises, heavy black eyeliner all around, and dark blue eye shadow. She is missing some paint on the eye lash ridge...Her lips are bright orange red with a touch of paint missing from top lip...her face paint looks all original... There's no nose nips or neck splits. She has earring holes with no earrings.. Body is in very good condition, needs a cleaning, and is faded to a pale ivory color as the very early dolls do....no swingy joints. There are a couple small dark green stain spots on the back torso by lettering and a pink marker stain on her one leg...she has all fingers and toes with red nail polish intact. Her markings on right buttocks Barbie TM PATS PEND MCXLVIII by MATTEL Inc..the number 22 on her left buttock..JAPAN on one foot She will come with the beautiful Original Mattel Barbie dress, head piece, gloves, and brown heeled sandals. VINTAGE BARBIE #3 PINK SILHOUETTE BOX #961 EVENING SPLENDOR DISPLAY DOLL *RARE* VINTAGE BARBIE #3 PINK SILHOUETTE BOX #961 EVENING SPLENDOR DISPLAY DOLL *RARE* Description Vintage Blonde Barbie #3 in Original Pink Silhouette Display Box dressed in her store display Evening Splendor Outfit Vintage Original #3 Blonde Barbie Doll from 1960 in her original Pink Silhouette Display box & wearing her best #961 Evening Splendor (Splendour) Complete Outfit. This is the very rare first Pink Silhouette box issued by Mattel! These doll sets were sold to stores to display their Barbie clothes. The Vintage Barbie Evening Splendour ensemble was released in 1959. A masterpiece was definitely created when the Golden Girl #911 sheath dress was issued with a matching coat. Made from the same gold and white brocade as the dress, the coat had three-quarter length sleeves trimmed in simulated fur. The coat was also tailored with a contrasting pale blue satin lining to further accessorize every detail. The outfit was topped off with a headband hat adorned with pearls and trimmed in the same brown fur as the coat and brown open toed heels. She also carried her aqua corduroy purse complete with Hanky and had on her best Pearl stud earrings and graduated pearl necklace to complete the outfit. The dress and coat are in near mint condition and they are the Barbie (R) version. The purse still has it's closure. The hanky is a bit yellowed as it was displayed in her hand all these years. Hat still has all of the pearls and is also in nm condition. Shoes are correctly marked. Barbie is all original - she is the rarer barbie that has the nipples - she has no loose limbs, no cracks. She has faded to a fairly even ivory color and she smells like crayons. She has all her red finger and toe nail polish. Her hair is still in the original ponytail but the lower rubber band has been replaced and the upper one is disintigrating - she has lost the curl at the bottom and hair is a bit flat from being in her box all these years! She has no green ear. Overall this is a gorgeous doll. She comes in her original Pink Silhoutte TM box. It has the Dressed doll sticker on the end. It is in overall excellent condition - it has clear tape at the top corners but otherwise nice and crisp and clean - see pics for overall view. Stunning blonde Mattel #3 ponytail Barbie doll in early T.M. BLOND box with original early, VHTF middle hole T.M. round pedestal, which has two pieces broken off around the edge, and wire stand, early ponytail catalog that includes the Gay Parisienne and Easter Parade outfits in it, early hoop earrings, white glasses, black Japan mules and striped swimsuit. She is in excellent condition; no green ear, neck split, or nose nips. Some of her fingers are crimped. Her lipstick is rubbed on one corner and one eyebrow has a small rub on the end. She has brown eyeliner. Her eyelid ridges were touched up with acrylic. Her butt has the TM marking. She has some light pink/red on areas of her torso/hips area. Her foot has the Japan marking. She has a good color. Her hair is nice. The box has an original liner in it. It is taped on the flap of the lid and taped on both corners of one end of the box. Smoke-free home. Vintage Transitional Barbie or #3 Brunette Ponytail Braid + Box, Book & Stand
Here is a vintage 1960 ponytail Barbie #3 with factory braid, or possibly a transitional Barbie with two skin tones (white legs with pink arms and body) and brunette ponytail braid. I’m not sure if she’s a 3 with legs fading faster than the rest of her body, or if she’s a transitional Barbie (her legs are very white compared to the rest of her body). She does seem to smell like Crayola crayon. This Barbie includes a wire stand (without base), Barbie only booklet, box, outfit, intact hoop earrings, shoes and of course, the doll herself. The doll's hair is dark brown mohair with very soft tiny curl curls for bangs. She has blue eyes, painted fingernails and toenails and orange-red lipstick. Disclaimer: I apologize that some of the photos were taken with the wrong stand- the larger Ken doll stand. I didn’t know it was the wrong stand when I took the photos. The Correct wire stand, which does fit under her arms correctly, will be included with this doll but it is missing the bottom piece. You could could easily drill a hole in a block of wood to anchor it into. The box will also need some TLC where the edges have come apart over time. (Condition: Pre-Owned)

Vintage #3 Brunette Ponytail Barbie Doll w Original Zebra Suit & Earrings 1960
Another Vintage Original #3 TM Brunette Barbie Doll No. 850 from 1960 wearing her original zebra stripe swimming suit & Pearl Earrings. I love the look of this gal. She has all her dark brown hair still in its factory ponytail with curly bang. No missing plugs. I did replace the lower elastic. She still has her original hair bands which I have left.Her makeup/face paint is original from what I can tell. She has the blue eyeshadow and red lips and blush. She has a bit of minor rubbing on her top lip and a tad on her eye brows. No neck splits and no green ear. She is wearing her original pearl earrings. The "pearliness" flaked off a little on the insides when I was gently cleaning her. But, they still look great. Her body is in excellent condition. It’s the correct solid TM body & she smells like crayons. She has faded to a fairly even ivory color. But, her torso where her swimming suit has been has retained a little more pink color. No loose limbs. She has her red nail polish with minor rubbing at the tips of her fingers. She's marked Barbie TM on her bottom. And, she's marked JAPAN lengthwise on her right foot. OOopps! After listing her as a #2 I was informed by many Barbie experts she is instead a #3. I still love her!!A fabulous all original #3 Pale Blonde Ponytail Barbie dating from 1959. I am the original owner. Although lovingly played with this is an exceptional doll; one you will rarely find in this condition. She has shiny blonde hair but should be re-styled.. Bangs are full soft curls in a double row framing her face. This doll has all original face paint with no retouches and no rubs, tested with alcohol. Barbie has full orange-red lips, red accent dots at her nostrils, black blue and white eyes, blue eyeliner, smoky shadow and taupe/brown eyebrows. Best of all she has soft rosy original cheek blush. There is one earring hole only at each ear with the original pearl earrings.Body is heavy solid vinyl with the markings: Barbie/TM/Pats Pend MCMLVIII By Mattel Inc. She has lovely matte finish, ivory/pink skin tone with no nibbles or scratches and her limbs are tight without warping. Her feet have typical shoe stains on the top and heels and a tiny bit on the underside of her feet. Both fingernail and toenail polish are approximately 95% intact. Vintage 1959-60 Barbie 850 Ponytail Doll #3 in Gay Parisienne #964 Dress
eBay Vintage Mattel 1959-1960 Barbie 850 Ponytail Doll #3 with original hard-to-find 1959 Gay Parisienne #964 dress and rabbit fur stole. Auction also includes a 1961 Barbie white vinyl carrying case, her original zebra swimsuit, miscellaneous accessories, two early booklets, and a small assortment of untagged and/or handmade clothing. Doll has blond hair, blue eyes, brown eyeliner, curved (not pointed) eyebrows, and Barbie TM on backside mark. No holes in bottom of feet. Standard 11 inch Barbie height. Provenance: One owner, received Barbie as a gift in late 1959 or 1960 in Portland Oregon, the carrying case a year or so later. Doll has been stored in case (not displayed or in open) for almost 60 years. This particular Barbie is an international traveler. She has lived in five different countries (United States, Indonesia, England, Singapore and Mozambique), made seven separate ocean crossings (Pacific, Atlantic and Indian), and she’s none the worse for wear. Her claim to fame is that she might be the only Barbie ever to have lived in the Mozambique home owned by South African leader Nelson Mandela and his human rights activist wife Graca Machel (who were not in residence at the time Barbie was there). This Barbie is in very good overall condition, gently played with for a few years when new. Photos show some changes in skin coloration, as to be expected prior to the change in the plastic body in Ponytail Doll #4. The ponytail hair band has mostly come undone, so hair hangs loose. Slight tarnishing in both ear lobes from metal earring posts, one earring post with loop still in place. Doll has original red fingernail and toenail polish. Gay Parisienne #964 outfit includes the dotted blue taffeta dress, white rabbit fur stole with white satin lining, and a pair of blue shoes with holes in the bottom. The outfit does not have the white gloves, hat, gold purse, or faux pearl post earrings. The faux pearl necklace is broken, many of the beads included in small bag. Dress and stole are tagged. YKK zipper in dress. The knit zebra swimsuit is in good condition, with just a few loose threads. Outfit includes the white sunglasses, one ear piece broken off. No black shoes. This doll appears to have come with faux pearl earrings on loops - not gold loops. The earrings are in poor condition, included in small box along with other beads. Unknown provenance, not from this owner’s Barbie. The 1961 “Ponytail” white Barbie vinyl carrying and storage case is in good condition except for some smudges and for two splits in the vinyl on the inside crease edges. Has hook for hangers (no hangers) and a pull-out ‘dresser’ box. Measures 12.25 x 10.25 x 2.5 inches. The “Barbie, Teen Age Fashion Model” booklet has the pink Barbie-only cover, dated MCMLVIII [1958] by Mattel Inc. on the lower left front cover. This booklet does not include depictions of the Gay Parisienne, Roman Holiday, or Easter Parade ensembles, so it is not a 1959 first issue. The “Barbie and Ken” booklet is dated 1962 by Kokusai Boeki Kasha, LTD, on the bottom of the inside front cover. In addition to the two booklets, there’s an undated promotional one-sheet piece for the “new” Midge doll #860, on the reverse side is an advertisement for Barbie’s Dream House #816. All items are original. Barbie, PATS PEND MCMLVIII by Mattel on right buttock. Beautiful turquoise eyes and red lipstick. No green ear. In addition to the two booklets, there’s an undated promotional one-sheet piece for the “new” Midge doll #860, on the reverse side is an advertisement for Barbie’s Dream House #816. Other miscellaneous accessories include a pair of red shoes with holes in bottom, a lone white shoe, a red vinyl purse, and a gold metal purse. Both purses can function as doll accessories, but they don’t appear to be Barbie items. The gold flat-piece metal purse might be a logo tag from a regular handbag. Vintage Ponytail #3 Blonde Barbie Doll Rare BLUE Eyeliner Orig Makeup SS Mattel
On offer is a beauty! Stunning genuine vintage #3 blonde Ponytail Barbie with original makeup and the rare blue eyeliner for #3’s. Plenty of wonderful smoky eyeliner. She has no green ears, no neck splits, no nose nips, no pin pricks, solid heavy milky white body evenly colored with a strong crayon smell. Her body has some slight pink staining mainly on her back and faintly on front waist and feet, due to dye transfer from clothing and shoes, which commonly happens with these gals. The body has tiny spots and surface rubs from handling and age but is overall very good. She has vibrant red polish on nails and toes, quite possibly repainted, but they look lovely. Japan stamped on the bottom right foot. Appears to have no missing hair plugs, with soft and full blonde hair styled in a loose ponytail and generous poodle bangs. Lips have faded to a fetching orange. Arms and legs are tight. Pin pricks for original earrings in her ears…no green as is notable for these earliest dolls, but the holes are slightly dark inside.Right foot is very slightly higher, about a millimeter or two. Comes wearing her original black & white striped swimsuit (a bit dingy with some wear but intact) and black open-toed heels with left one correctly stamped Japan. Markings: BARBIE T.M.
