RARE 1959 Original Vintage #1 Brunette Ponytail Barbie Doll with clothes. This was my wife's 10th birthday present in 1959, and she has kept it lovingly ever since. This Barbie is in very good condition. She has the holes in her feet to hold her up in the included original stand (which has a cosmetic chip on the back side). The copyright marking is visible on her right buttock. Her right foot has the word JAPAN on the bottom.She has white irises and sharply arched eyebrows. All of her features are original. Her ponytail has never been taken down. This is the exact model shown on the Wikipedia page about the introduction of Barbie at the American International Toy Fair on March 9, 1959, Barbie's official birthday. The front and back covers are detached, but present. Most of the included items of clothing are from the original catalog. In the order of the photos, they are: #963 Resort Set, #918 Cruise Stripe Dress, #912 Cotton Casual, #977 Silken Flame, #921 Floral Petticoat. The red plaid wool coat has a Barbie label from a later time. The shirt of the riding outfit is from #967 Picnic Set. The other pieces of that outfit are not labeled. The wedding dress with veil, the pioneer dress with bonnet and the cape with 2 piece dress were handmade by my wife for our daughters’ Barbies in the 1970s. Some of the shoes shown are original.
