This is a vintage 1958 Mattel "Ponytail Barbie " Doll with a zebra swimsuit (just like in the movie!).It is a highly collectible item for any Barbie enthusiast. The doll stands at 11 inches in height, has stunning blue eyes and used to have curly blonde/reddish bangs and straight hair in pony tail (now the hair looks like barbie has bed-head). It belongs to the product line of "Ponytail Barbie". This doll has red lipstick and red painted fingernails and toes. However the paint on the toes is very faded and she is missing the little finger on her right hand. I have received many questions so I'll share answers here. More detailed background: This Barbie belongs to my mother, the original owner. She was a gift from my grandparents, to my mother, at age 7, in 1958 or 1959. Years later my sister and I played with her for a year or 2 in the early 1980s. Then my mother read an article about how much this Barbie may be worth so she put her safely in storage and bought us cheaper Barbies to play with ?. The 1958 Ponytail Zebra Swimsuit Barbie has been safely tucked away in my mother's closet from the 1980s until now. Condition and Cleaning: There is no green discoloring at the ear holes, her nose is intact. I cleaned her with water, elbow grease and a few drops of dawn. See updated photos. The stains on her shoulders, butt, elbows & calves all came off. There is a red stain (pen?) on her upper arm that did not come off.
