Vintage Platinum Color Magic Barbie 1966 In Original Outfit
SOLD $779.00 Sold: Jun 10, 2024 on eBayOriginal Listing Description
Vintage Platinum Color Magic Barbie 1966. Be still my heart. The Platinum Color Magics are, in my humble opinion, the most beautiful of all the CMs, and are probably more rare than the Midnight (black) issue. But our Platinum girl had one advantage: she was rooted with regular doll hair that didn’t react to hair color. So there is much less breakage with this issue, compared with the Yellow Flame or Midnight (black) dolls who were subjected to daily hair color sessions using packaged chemical powders, not unlike baking soda. The platinum CMs were never mass produced and so were not intended to be sold in toy stores. Instead a sample doll was distributed to stores to be used as “eye candy”, enticing young collectors to add one of the available hair colors (Bright Yellow or Jet Black) to their doll family at home. Now, just when you were about to give up…let’s talk about this Platinum CM. She has long, soft, and uncut hair. I can find maybe five missing plugs in total. It looks slightly uneven in the back because, as with many CMs, the longer pieces from the sidepart have fallen in with the other hair; it is not broken or cut. I see no evidence of any cuts at all.She is high color with raspberry lips, original blush and great eye paint. No rubs. Her bend leg body is excellent, with two working knees and no slashes or pinpricks. She has all her fingers and toes. Her scalp is grayish black in the lower back of her head, which is curious. Her butt markings are indented. She is wearing her HTF Color Magic dress in excellent condition with matching bag. She’ll come with turquoise Japan mules and a turquoise CM barrette. This is one beautiful doll. Check out all the pictures and read this description. Ask me any questions. I entertain any reasonable offers. But don’t miss out. (Condition: Pre-Owned)
