Vintage OOAK Color Magic Barbie + repro Color Magic swimsuit + American Girl box
SOLD $450.00 Sold: Jun 15, 2024 on eBayOriginal Listing Description
Pictures 1-5 were taken outside. All remaining pictures were taken inside.THE DOLL: This is a OOAK Color Magic Barbie. Barbie's makeup is lovely. Her hair was thin on top and missing some plugs; so the bottom row of plugs in the back of her head was "transplanted" to the front of her head to give her bangs (picture 16). In other words, she received a partial reroot from strands of her own hair! Her hair was restyled with a portion pulled up on each side and made into a small ponytail on top ... like the hair style of a TNT Barbie. Barbie does not have any green discoloration on or around her ears.Barbie has a tiny repaired neck split in the back of her head (picture 15) which has remained stable ever since I got her (about 5 years ago). It must have been reinforced on the inside because there is no visible glue residue on the outside of her head. It just looks like a "hairline fracture" and is not visible from the front.Barbie has fingernail polish on both hands (picture 13), and she has one small dark mark on the back of her right hand (picture 14).Barbie's original legs were replaced with bleached Malibu legs. Each knee bends and holds 3 clicks (picture 12). There are some light pink stains on the backs of her ankles, but no bite marks or pin pricks. All of her toes are present, and there is no polish on her toes.Barbie's markings are as follows:c 1958MATTEL, INC.U.S. PATENTEDU.S. PAT. PENDMADE INJAPANThe first four lines have indented letters. The last two lines have raised letters. Pictures 23 & 24..THE SWIMSUIT: Barbie is wearing a reproduction Color Magic swimsuit made by Mattel. The swimsuit looks like new. It has an attached blue belt. I do not see any stains, tears, runs, holes, or any other imperfections on it. There is no tag in it.THE BOX: I do not have Barbie's original box; so I had her displayed in this vintage American Girl box. The box is marked "Brunette." The box has significant wear, but there is no writing on it. Please review pictures 18-22 for overall condition of the box. Note that the bottom flap of the box lid is split on both corners (picture 21). Even though it is not her correct box, I think it works well for her since it says "lifelike bendable legs," and the pink cardboard on the inside of the box coordinates with the pink in her swimsuit. There is a reproduction booklet inside the box. It is not a Color Magic booklet. No doll stand is included in this listing. With her classic face and TNT hairdo, this doll bridges the gap between vintage and MOD. Sweet!Questions welcome. No returns. No international shipping Domestic shipping via USPS Ground Advantage with tracking & full insurance.Thank you for viewing my listing. (Condition: Pre-Owned)
Note: This item has been sold and is no longer available. This page serves as a historical price reference for Barbie collectors and appraisers.
