I am offering this rare and highly sought after #2 Vintage Brunette Ponytail Barbie from 1959 for sale. This is my doll which was given to me by my grandmother when I was 6 years old. She taught me to take very good care of her. I tried to do that. My husband has recently passed away and I am faced with financial challenges. I am hoping someone will give this gorgeous well persevered Barbie a home. Please look at all the pictures to show you how she has held up throughout the years. Her ponytail was reset. Her makeup is original. Her eye lashes have minor wear. There is minor fading on her lips. Her left arm has tooth marks from me when I was 6. Beautiful Vintage #1 Ponytail Barbie Doll 1959 One Owner OG Stand & Collection!
RARE FIND! Number One Blonde Ponytail Barbie with the Original Early Fashions, Pronged TM Mattel #1 Stand Accessories and Case Little nine year old Alice received the first issue Barbie teenage fashion doll for Christmas in 1959. Mattel’s Barbie had just made her debut at the International Toy show in New York. This is a rare opportunity to own a very special number one Barbie with the original “one owner” childhood collection. It includes many early fashions, complete with the jewelry and accessories This Ponytail Barbie is stunning with her cute upturned nose and signature ponytail. She has dramatic lightning shaped eyebrows and handpainted makeup ; blue side glancing eyes, blue eyeliner, smoky eye shadow, coral red lips, red fingernails and toenails. She’s truly stunning and in remarkable condition for being 64 years old. She is 99% original and retains most of her original factory characteristics This number one blonde ponytail has the extended hairline, which is different from the number threes and later dolls. She is very unusual and rare in that she has two distinctly different hairlines from left to right. Her right side is curved and differs from the straighter hairline on the left. She is wearing her original hairstyle set with the top knot and hard curl at the bottom. The ponytail has been retied with matching colored thread as the band was shot. Her hair is uncut and she has no missing plugs. She has a flocked scalp, silky floss hair in baby chick yellow, full poodle bangs with well defined curls and a cute spit curl on her forehead. Her make up is excellent. as is the the nail and toenail polish. She has all of the correct markings on her bottom; Mattel Barbie TM, 1958 in Roman numerals, pat pending and the number 65. She is marked Japan on the bottom of one foot. Her limbs are nice and tight, but she is able to hold any pose. Her neck moves freely, and there are no issues. She has beautiful and even creamy, pale pinkish ivory body color which is amazing as I e usually sees a in e sort of fading . She has beautiful straight legs with the desired daylight shown only between the thigh and knee , and knee and ankle…A sign of classical beauty with models. She has holes in each of her feet with the original copper tubes present. And she even has her original Mattel TM two prong stand which is very valuable! She has had very minor work done.. a professional restoration to her right pinky and a little touch up to her eyelash ridges. There was also one teeny pinpoint freckle on her left leg just below the knee that has been touched up to match the body color . If you look closely at the photos, you will see how gorgeous this doll is. I have not seen one in original condition that is this outstanding. Barbie has a boyfriend , Ken, who will be listed in a separate listing. Blonde Barbie comes with her original iconic black and white swimsuit, white cat, eyeglasses, black, OT mules with holes. Thankfully her feet do not have any of the staining that is typical with these Barbies. She also has her original gold bangle, hoop earrings! One hole per ear and no green ear! How perfect is this girl?! She is FABULOUS! It was so fun to find Barbie in her original little nest with all the fun boxes and precious accessories that Alice had lovingly kept and preserved. You can tell that this Barbie was truly loved and treasured. Alice did not let other children touch or play with her doll :-)*** This collection would not be complete without a photo of little Alice in December of 1959 around the time that she received this Barbie for Christmas. RARE 1959 Original Vintage #1 Brunette Ponytail Barbie Doll with clothes. This was my wife's 10th birthday present in 1959, and she has kept it lovingly ever since. This Barbie is in very good condition. She has the holes in her feet to hold her up in the included original stand (which has a cosmetic chip on the back side). The copyright marking is visible on her right buttock. Her right foot has the word JAPAN on the bottom.She has white irises and sharply arched eyebrows. All of her features are original. Her ponytail has never been taken down. This is the exact model shown on the Wikipedia page about the introduction of Barbie at the American International Toy Fair on March 9, 1959, Barbie's official birthday. The Model 850 doll, with the original box, accessories, and documents from 1959 are all in good condition (see photos). The doll was “gently played with” for only a short period of time in 1959. Her hair was never disturbed and still has the original rubber band. No restoration work has been done. There are holes in the feet with metal cylinders in both legs which fit onto the original black two-pronged stand, stamped Barbie T.M. By Mattel. The doll is also marked Barbie T.M. on the right buttock, and Japan on the right foot bottom, thus verifying authenticity The box is marked Barbie T.M., Teen Age Fashion Model, 1959. RARE HTF VNTG 1959 1 850 TM BLONDE PONYTAIL BARBIE DOLL-COTTON CASUAL-#912
This auction is for a rare, hard to find 1959 #1 blonde ponytail Barbie doll. There were only 350,000 #1 Barbie dolls made in this issue. She has a beautiful face with the characteristic inverted V or lightening bolt eyebrows, side glancing eyes with white irises, blue eyeliner, curly bangs, and metal cylinders in her legs that end with the holes in her feet for her doll stand. Her doll stand was not found with her. Her eyebrows are intact as her ruby red lips. Her right eyebrow is faint at the outer edge, but it is there to make her eyebrows complete and original. Her gold tone hoop earrings are artist's custom reproductions of the original earrings, and look very appropriate. Her light tone, heavy body is pale, indicative of the #1 Barbies, and feels solid. She also comes with her original sunglasses with blue lens. The right arm of the sunglasses is looser than the left, but both stay on her head when placed. I see there are reproductions of the original doll stands that can be found on ebay to complete her look. I will leave that up to the new owner! She was found with many of the clothing outfits made as those first issue of Barbie outfits which I will be listing soon. Japan is marked on bottom of her foot closer to the heel on her right foot. She is an estate sale find! She comes from one prior owner and a pet free home. It says that I ship within 2 days, 99.9% of the time, I ship within 24 hours. My aunt owned a paint store in 1959 when I was 10 years old. She also sold toys in a special section upstairs and my sister and I looked forward every year to visiting her shop and picking out things we wanted to put on our Christmas list. My birthday is in November, and the year I turned 10, she gave me one of the first Mattel Barbies made in Japan. I thought Barbie wasn’t very pretty, but I loved her clothes. She is long gone, but her outfits are alive and in excellent condition, as I became obsessed with her clothes. I would not let anyone touch my Barbie, and on every Birthday and Christmas until I became a teen, all I asked for were Barbie outfits. She had more clothes than I ever dreamed of having. Now I am 73 years old and have 2 beautiful granddaughters and 7 great nieces who love Barbie too. I would love to leave this cherished collection to my granddaughters or a great nieces, but none of them would ever value these items as I did. They would end up lost, tossed aside or in the trash. So, as much as it breaks my heart to sell these items, I feel selling them can benefit my education in the future. A few pieces were missing, like an earring or glove, but replaced by me. Condition is very good on most things, some things and clothes are like new, some have a few flaws like a stain but these can be washed, or as on the Enchanted Evening, i think shld be dry cleaned; but on the whole everything is in very good condition, see photos, everything is in there; all of this has been owned by one person since childhood. This vintage 1960 Barbie doll was a super exciting find for me in the summer of 2001. My 17 year old daughter had been away to Italy for a year as a Rotary Foreign Exchange Student. We missed her immensely and I was searching for a welcome home gift that would mark the special occasion. Being that she grew up playing with Barbies, when I saw this doll at a moving sale I knew I had found THE GIFT. I was stunned at how pristine she was - quickly learning it was because she was deemed "too mature" at the time for a little girl to play with. Her mother had tucked Barbie, box and all, in a closet. Substituting instead a Ginny doll for her daughter to play with. (I bought the Ginny doll too).My daughter was thrilled to tears with the gift, but had grown-up during her year away. She valued the doll as an investment, so once again Barbie was carefully tucked away, this time in a temperature controlled locked safe. Fast forward 20+ years and my daughter has given the go-ahead to sell her super special Barbie. (Her son is excited by Legos.)Ready for her new Best Friend we offer this 1960 vintage #3 (transition #4) Barbie Doll.Original 1960 #3 Barbie with Blue Irises and Brown curved Eyebrows. This is one of the FEW Barbies made with the Brown Eyeliner AND she is from a later in the year issue of a new vinyl plastic formula that would NOT turn a sickly white. (Collectors refer to the tan-toned dolls to be #4.) However this doll has the brown eyeliner making her a RARER 1960 #3 TRANSITION BARBIE!! EXCELLENT COLORING all around on her swimsuit, hair, red accents, cheek blush, sunglasses and box: I believe due to the fact she has been stored in a closet for her first 40 years and a safe the past 23 years.Included with her is The Barbie COTTON CASUAL Dress #912. It has a name and date inked on the inside: Beth 1-7-60. It was purchased with the doll but obviously stored separately thus showing some dust accumulation on the the top of the bodice.This doll comes complete with:Original pair of white and blue black and white swimsuit which still fits like a glove. I don't think it has ever been completely off.Matched pair of black shoes (one plain/one stamped "Japan") designed for the No. 1 with holes in the shoe bottoms to accommodate a stand. (NO stand was with her when I purchased in 2001.)This beautiful item has been gently stored away for her entire existence in a pet-free, smoke-free home. Her Body is in AMAZING SHAPE for being over 60 years old.The plastic has not changed colors. Her skin smells like crayons. Her joints are nice and tight. Her lips, nose, fingers and toe nails are still bright red.Her cheeks are blushed.On her bottom right butt cheek you can clearly see "Barbie™ Pats Pend © MCMLVIII by Mattel Inc," On her left butt cheek is the B 42. (usually referred to as a mold number)Brown eyeshadow & Brows and curved (not pointy) brow line indicates she is a #3 Barbie. The original top Hair band is intact.Her Bang curls are still tight.Pearl Stud Earrings are intact. Her right side earring shows slight green from metal ear stud. Her left earring is clear & clean.There are no visible neck splits Included is her Barbie COTTON CASUAL Dress #912. It has a name and date inked on the inside: Beth 1-7-60. It was purchased with the doll but obviously stored separately thus showing some dust accumulation on the the top of the bodice.There are some faint dark blotches on her right calf. A few mold indents may be visible on the rest of her body as is normal for this type of molded plastic doll body. I did not undress her completely but did see one such blemish on the back of her torso under the swimsuit. Please study ALL photo's as they are part of this items description. There are NO foot tubes/holes on this #3 doll.THE BARBIE BOX is in near mint condition! Marked Stock No 850. BLOND, Japan. copyright 1959. No tears or rips. Minor top lid curving and bubbling of the color design paper pressboard. The bottom inside lid has some discoloration as does the box bottom with a moisture mark near one end. I have left her on the folded cloth napkin as she was found.
