#1 Ponytail Barbie #850 1959 One owner, my mother who became a fashion merchandiser and lampshade designer. She loved this doll and it comes with many original partial outfits, detailed below. She even had some outfits handmade for this doll, in 1960, which we're including as part of this dolls story. The doll was purchased in 1959-1960 for my mom when she was eleven by her older sister from Uncle Tom’s Toys (now Tom’s Toys) at 682 Higuera Street in San Luis Obispo, California, and Tom's is still in business. All of the other outfits were also purchased around the same time. Original #850 Zebra Swimsuit outfit:One piece black and white zebra striped swimsuit Includes black open toe heeled shoes with holes, white sunglasses with blue lenses, and her gold tone hoop earrings 1959 Partial Outfits #921 floral petticoat 1959: Petticoat only #969 suburban shopper outfit 1959: Dress, sun hat and very fun Woven bag with fruit. The doll is made of heavy vinyl plastic, partially solid body with excellent original skin tone color. Bottom of right foot marked JAPAN. See images for Barbie mark. Blonde saran ponytail hair & curly bangs. Pointy ^ ^ eyebrows like lightening bolts, side glancing eyes with white irises, and hand painted face. Closed red painted mouth. Brass metal cylinders in feet, that fit onto the stainless pins on the black Bakelite stand which has two chips, with Mattel Deboss. This allows her to stand "on her own feet." Original #1 1959 Vintage Blonde ponytail Barbie with all accessories
eBay It is time to sell my older sister's #1 Barbie that she received in 1959. She is all original, never really played with, only used to make clothes for my Barbie later on. Her ponytail will need some care, the rubber bands have disintegrated over time and the ponytail has lost its curl. Her hair has never been cut, it just appears a bit shorter than usual because it is "fluffed". Her makeup is totally original, and in excellent condition. All nail and toenail polish is still there, one of the few flaws I see with her is from red shoes she has worn, there is some red on her feet from these. Absolutely no green ear at all. All joints are tight She does have a stain on her thigh, very light. The stand has a small piece broken out of one side, but doesn't show when that side is turned to the back. She doesn't have her original box anymore, the right lid was switched over the years, but she does have her booklet, (written in and some tears to pages) original black shoes with holes, earrings, sunglasses in excellent shape, stand and swimsuit. I even have extra black shoes I will send with her.I will pay shipping and insurance and double/triple box her. She is the best #1 Barbie I have seen on eBay recently, with the fewest flaws! THE HOLY GRAIL OF BARBIE COLLECTING! Lovely vintage, 1959, Brunette #1 Ponytail Barbie doll with all original face paint. She has a beautiful, evenly faded body; no nips, chews, green ear or neck splits. Her face is lovely. Her hair is full and thick and even has original curl at the end of her ponytail. Her top knot has been retied. Her original face paint is wonderful; she has the tiniest amount of paint missing from her top lip which does not detract from her at all. She will come with her original T.M. box, T.M. booklet with Roman Holiday, Easter Parade and Gay Parisienne outfits, original shoes, swimsuit and sunglasses, and repro earrings and stand. The box is very nice with bright graphics. Everything about this girl is spectacular. I think it would be hard to find a nicer brunette #1 Ponytail Barbie than this doll. Beautiful Vintage #1 Ponytail Barbie Doll 1959 One Owner OG Stand & Collection!
RARE FIND! Number One Blonde Ponytail Barbie with the Original Early Fashions, Pronged TM Mattel #1 Stand Accessories and Case Little nine year old Alice received the first issue Barbie teenage fashion doll for Christmas in 1959. Mattel’s Barbie had just made her debut at the International Toy show in New York. This is a rare opportunity to own a very special number one Barbie with the original “one owner” childhood collection. It includes many early fashions, complete with the jewelry and accessories This Ponytail Barbie is stunning with her cute upturned nose and signature ponytail. She has dramatic lightning shaped eyebrows and handpainted makeup ; blue side glancing eyes, blue eyeliner, smoky eye shadow, coral red lips, red fingernails and toenails. She’s truly stunning and in remarkable condition for being 64 years old. She is 99% original and retains most of her original factory characteristics This number one blonde ponytail has the extended hairline, which is different from the number threes and later dolls. She is very unusual and rare in that she has two distinctly different hairlines from left to right. Her right side is curved and differs from the straighter hairline on the left. She is wearing her original hairstyle set with the top knot and hard curl at the bottom. The ponytail has been retied with matching colored thread as the band was shot. Her hair is uncut and she has no missing plugs. She has a flocked scalp, silky floss hair in baby chick yellow, full poodle bangs with well defined curls and a cute spit curl on her forehead. Her make up is excellent. as is the the nail and toenail polish. She has all of the correct markings on her bottom; Mattel Barbie TM, 1958 in Roman numerals, pat pending and the number 65. She is marked Japan on the bottom of one foot. Her limbs are nice and tight, but she is able to hold any pose. Her neck moves freely, and there are no issues. She has beautiful and even creamy, pale pinkish ivory body color which is amazing as I e usually sees a in e sort of fading . She has beautiful straight legs with the desired daylight shown only between the thigh and knee , and knee and ankle…A sign of classical beauty with models. She has holes in each of her feet with the original copper tubes present. And she even has her original Mattel TM two prong stand which is very valuable! She has had very minor work done.. a professional restoration to her right pinky and a little touch up to her eyelash ridges. There was also one teeny pinpoint freckle on her left leg just below the knee that has been touched up to match the body color . If you look closely at the photos, you will see how gorgeous this doll is. I have not seen one in original condition that is this outstanding. Barbie has a boyfriend , Ken, who will be listed in a separate listing. Blonde Barbie comes with her original iconic black and white swimsuit, white cat, eyeglasses, black, OT mules with holes. Thankfully her feet do not have any of the staining that is typical with these Barbies. She also has her original gold bangle, hoop earrings! One hole per ear and no green ear! How perfect is this girl?! She is FABULOUS! It was so fun to find Barbie in her original little nest with all the fun boxes and precious accessories that Alice had lovingly kept and preserved. You can tell that this Barbie was truly loved and treasured. RARE 1959 Original Vintage #1 Brunette Ponytail Barbie Doll with clothes. This was my wife's 10th birthday present in 1959, and she has kept it lovingly ever since. This Barbie is in very good condition. She has the holes in her feet to hold her up in the included original stand (which has a cosmetic chip on the back side). The copyright marking is visible on her right buttock. Her right foot has the word JAPAN on the bottom.She has white irises and sharply arched eyebrows. All of her features are original. Her ponytail has never been taken down. This is the exact model shown on the Wikipedia page about the introduction of Barbie at the American International Toy Fair on March 9, 1959, Barbie's official birthday. Vintage 1959 #1 Barbie Blonde Ponytail & Original Pronged Stand
I have recently acquired a vintage Barbie collection and will be listing various dolls, clothing and accessories within the next few months.This listing is for a vintage #1 Blonde Ponytail Barbie from 1959. She comes with her original pronged stand for display as well as her black and white zebra striped swimsuit, hoop earrings and black mules with the holes (one shoe marked JAPAN).The rubber band holding her ponytail has deteriorated. She has the iconic black and white irises and beautiful makeup as well as complete fingernail and toenail polish. Her legs are stiff. She has been on her stand for many years in that position so I didn't want to force them. She has the metal tubes in her feet. One is a little higher up than the other but they are both there. There is some color transfer on the bottoms of her feet from her mules. Her body is made of a heavy plastic and some areas have turned white over the years which is typical for this doll. She may be able to be cleaned however, I will leave that to the new owner. She is marked "Barbie, Pats Pend, ©MCMLV111, by Mattel Inc".This Barbie is definitely the holy grail. This is the One and Only Iconic #1 Ponytail Barbie, “born” on March 9, 1959. She is fabulous with a soft blonde ponytail that looks like it has the original tie.The curl at bottom of the ponytail has been cinched into a tight curl, held in place with some small amount of product. (See pictures.)Her bangs have what appears to be two rows of tiny original curls,No nose nips or neck splits. No strange smells. No spots or marks.Her torso and arms enjoy uniformly peach tones. No fading of the ivory skin color, of her torso. eBay For your consideration is a beautiful, number one, ponytail Barbie. One owner, who keep this doll in a cedar chest all these years. Her face is one of the most beautiful that I have ever, still retaining all of it's original paint, even on her cheeks! Her hair is in it's original set and looks like the original rubber band. The only flaw that I can see is some discoloration on her feet where she had on shoes. It may come off but I ain't gonna touch it! Both of the metal shafts are present on the holes in her feet but one is shoved up into the hole, please see photos. All paint is present on her nails and toes. All limbs are tight and move well. Her torso even retains some of the original flesh color! Such nice clear crisp markings on her butt and foot. Comes with her original swimsuit and box. Box has one end missing and the other end has splits on the corners, please see photos. Also included are the coat and sheath dress for Evening Splendor. She had on this bra but I am not familiar enough with Barbie to know if it is a Barbie bra or not. It fits perfectly. Also one brown shoe with the hole in it, it is not marked Japan. Vintage Barbie Ponytail, Original #1 Barbie From 1959
Here is a #1 Brunette Barbie from 1959 in excellent condition. Barbie comes with her swimsuit, #1 heels, sunglasses, #1 booklet, hoop earrings and Brunette TM box, all original. Also included is a reproduction stand. I have several of these which I personally prefer over the original. Barbie has a long ponytail which has been restyled. Her lips and nails have been refreshed in the past. No green ear. She has the Japan box on one of her feet. Both tubes are present, one pushed in and the other sticking out a little. Barbie has a slight pinky tone color to her vinyl. Same even tone coloring. All joints and head move. The box is in good condition. A few corners have been reglued. Nice bright graphics. Just a beautiful doll. Please ask any questions you may have as there are no returns. Barbie will be insured with signature confirmation. Her hair was never disturbed and still has the original rubber band. No restoration work has been done.
