This vintage 1960 Barbie doll was a super exciting find for me in the summer of 2001. My 17 year old daughter had been away to Italy for a year as a Rotary Foreign Exchange Student. We missed her immensely and I was searching for a welcome home gift that would mark the special occasion. Being that she grew up playing with Barbies, when I saw this doll at a moving sale I knew I had found THE GIFT. I was stunned at how pristine she was - quickly learning it was because she was deemed "too mature" at the time for a little girl to play with. Her mother had tucked Barbie, box and all, in a closet. Substituting instead a Ginny doll for her daughter to play with. (I bought the Ginny doll too).My daughter was thrilled to tears with the gift, but had grown-up during her year away. She valued the doll as an investment, so once again Barbie was carefully tucked away, this time in a temperature controlled locked safe. Fast forward 20+ years and my daughter has given the go-ahead to sell her super special Barbie. (Her son is excited by Legos.)Ready for her new Best Friend we offer this 1960 vintage #3 (transition #4) Barbie Doll.Original 1960 #3 Barbie with Blue Irises and Brown curved Eyebrows. This is one of the FEW Barbies made with the Brown Eyeliner AND she is from a later in the year issue of a new vinyl plastic formula that would NOT turn a sickly white. (Collectors refer to the tan-toned dolls to be #4.) However this doll has the brown eyeliner making her a RARER 1960 #3 TRANSITION BARBIE!! EXCELLENT COLORING all around on her swimsuit, hair, red accents, cheek blush, sunglasses and box: I believe due to the fact she has been stored in a closet for her first 40 years and a safe the past 23 years.Included with her is The Barbie COTTON CASUAL Dress #912. It has a name and date inked on the inside: Beth 1-7-60. It was purchased with the doll but obviously stored separately thus showing some dust accumulation on the the top of the bodice.This doll comes complete with:Original pair of white and blue black and white swimsuit which still fits like a glove. I don't think it has ever been completely off.Matched pair of black shoes (one plain/one stamped "Japan") designed for the No. 1 with holes in the shoe bottoms to accommodate a stand. (NO stand was with her when I purchased in 2001.)This beautiful item has been gently stored away for her entire existence in a pet-free, smoke-free home. Her Body is in AMAZING SHAPE for being over 60 years old.The plastic has not changed colors. Her skin smells like crayons. Her joints are nice and tight. Her lips, nose, fingers and toe nails are still bright red.Her cheeks are blushed.On her bottom right butt cheek you can clearly see "Barbie™ Pats Pend © MCMLVIII by Mattel Inc," On her left butt cheek is the B 42. (usually referred to as a mold number)Brown eyeshadow & Brows and curved (not pointy) brow line indicates she is a #3 Barbie. The original top Hair band is intact.Her Bang curls are still tight.Pearl Stud Earrings are intact. Her right side earring shows slight green from metal ear stud. Her left earring is clear & clean.There are no visible neck splits Included is her Barbie COTTON CASUAL Dress #912. It has a name and date inked on the inside: Beth 1-7-60. It was purchased with the doll but obviously stored separately thus showing some dust accumulation on the the top of the bodice.There are some faint dark blotches on her right calf. A few mold indents may be visible on the rest of her body as is normal for this type of molded plastic doll body. There are NO foot tubes/holes on this #3 doll.THE BARBIE BOX is in near mint condition! Marked Stock No 850. BLOND, Japan. copyright 1959. No tears or rips. Minor top lid curving and bubbling of the color design paper pressboard. The bottom inside lid has some discoloration as does the box bottom with a moisture mark near one end. I have left her on the folded cloth napkin as she was found. Pretty Vintage Blonde Number 3 #3 Mattel Barbie Doll with Blue Eyeliner
This listing is for a very pretty vintage #3 Barbie doll. She has blue eyeliner, which I believe is more rare. Her makeup is very pretty. I can’t say for sure if it is 100% original or not. It’s possible that the eyelash ridges were touched up. I have had this doll for about 25 years and I really don’t remember her history. Her hair has most likely been redone. It has a thick hard curl at the end of the ponytail. I am not a Barbie expert, but I will try to list her flaws. Please message me with any questions about important things I may have missed or overlooked. First, there is a little bit of green in her left ear. It’s not too bad, mostly just confined to the earring hole. I took the gold hoop earrings out when I noticed it and will leave them out. I have replaced them with some pearls with plastic wires. There are some shorter pieces of hair behind her ear on the right side. They’re not too noticeable because they blend in with the style pretty well. There is a tiny “scar” or indentation under her right eye, which is barely noticeable. Her right arm extends outward at a larger angle than the left arm. Her torso seems slightly darker than her extremities and has a pinkish tone. There are a couple of tiny dark spots. One is above her left knee and the other is at the base of her neck on the left side. I can’t read any of the markings because they seem to have worn down so much that they are barely visible. I can very vaguely see where the Barbie logo would be. She will come with a black wire stand, her vintage black and white striped bathing suit, both pearl and gold hoop earrings, a pair of black shoes and a plain white box (not vintage). As I mentioned, I am not a Barbie expert, so please message me with any questions or requests for additional photos. I am always open to reasonable offers. This item comes from a non-smoking home. 1961 Barbie Doll w/ Box. RARE Mattel Brunette Bubble Cut Model #850 +12 Outfits
Vintage 1961 Mattel Barbie Doll Model #850 Brunette Bubble Cut with original box, metal wire stand, earrings, white sunglasses with gold glitter, black/white zebra bathing suit, black shoes (one marked Japan), and pink booklet. All items are original. Barbie, PATS PEND MCMLVIII by Mattel on right buttock. Beautiful turquoise eyes and red lipstick. No green ear. Hair is raven black (brunette) with tight bubble cut, red fingernail and toenail polish. Polish and lipstick in great condition and highly visible. Shows no signs of wear. Please see picture #3. Original shoes have Japan on the bottom of one shoe. Box has blue/white suburban shopper outfit on upper left side and Brunette Bubble Cut #850 label pasted on bottom of box. Box shows gentle wear and bottom right corner is split. Please see picture #2.Original owner of the doll and all of the following outfits and accessories. Doll is in excellent condition. Gently played with and well taken care of.Friday Night Date: #979. 1960 - 1964. Original vintage outfit includes: White pinafore, blue corduroy jumper, black heels, 2 plastic coke tumblers with black Barbie serving tray and drinking straws. Blue jumper has light stains on the back. All felt appliques and snaps on jumper and pinafore are present and work. Black tray, glasses and straws in great condition and show minimal wear. Please see 4th picture. Tennis Outfit: #941. 1962 - 1964. Original vintage outfit includes: Tennis dress, jacket, racket, socks, blue sunglasses, 2 balls, white tennis type shoes and tennis rules book. White tennis dress doesn’t have any holes and zipper works. Some yellowing due to age/storage. Jacket has orange colored ribbing and is lightly soiled on front and back due to gently play. Some very light orange bleeding has occurred on the back of the jacket. Socks, sunglasses, balls, tennis shoes, racket and tennis rules book are in great shape. Bottom of shoes are both marked Japan. Please see 5th picture.Busy Morning: #956. 1963 (Only sold for one year). Original vintage outfit includes: Pink/white dress with phone, pearl necklace, shoes, hat and handbag. No holes in dress and zipper works. Hat ribbon in great condition. Phone cord attached and white shoes (one marked Japan) are in excellent condition. Necklace is intact and features a strand of faux pearls. Handbag closure works and handle with fruit pieces present and intact. Dress has stain on left breast area. One piece of fruit on the handbag is cracked with age. Please see 6th picture.Resort Set: #963. 1959 - 1962. Original vintage set includes: Red/White jacket. blue/white sleeveless jersey knit top, white shorts, white sunhat, white strap cork wedge shoes and metal charm bracelet. All clothes are in working order, have original snaps and no holes. White shorts and sunhat show some yellowing due to age or storage. White strap cork wedge shoes are great and do not have any issues. Bracelet intact and complete. Please see 7th picture.Nighty Negligee: #965. 1959 – 1964. Original vintage outfit includes: Pink sheer full-length gown and matching sheer robe with pocket. Stuffed felt dog and pink shoes with pompom. Shoes (one marked Japan) have pompoms and in great shape. Gown and robe do not have any holes. Ties and embroidery are present and intact. Please see 8th picture. Enchanted Evening: #983. 1960 - 1963. Original vintage outfit includes: Pink gown with train accented with a rose, white stole, white long gloves, drop faux pearl earrings, 3 strand faux pearl necklace, clear shoes. All clothing pieces in excellent shape with no holes. Drop earrings are good and intact. Necklace has come apart and needs restringing. Shoes (one marked Japan) have good glitter on heels and across toe band. Please see 9th picture.Open Road: #985. 1961 – 1962. Original vintage outfit includes: Jacket, sweater, pants, hat, red sunglasses, red strap cork wedge shoes, and map. Jacket has all brown buttons but missing the top toggle and is lightly soiled. Tan sweater is in great condition with all three snaps and no holes. Pants are great with working zipper and no holes. Straw hat has no holes in red band that ties under her chin but some fraying around the straw brim is noted. Red sunglasses are great with working hinges and red strap cork wedge shoes are great with no issues. Map has been torn and only piece remains. Please see 10th picture. American Airline Flight Stewardess: #984. 1961 - 1964. Original vintage outfit includes: White blouse, navy skirt and jacket, black over the shoulder handbag, American Airlines travel bag and navy hat. White blouse has 3 tiny buttons and a working snap. Jacket has 4 tiny buttons, a working snap and a wings insignia on left front. Skirt is straight with working snap. Hat with an AA insignia on the front is in great condition with 2 prongs, so it stays in her hair. Black handbag and travel bag are excellent with working zipper on travel bag. M 2010 Mattel OOAK Hot and Gold Barbie Basics ONE OF A KIND Vtg Steffie face
This auction is for a Mattel 2010 Hot and Gold Barbie doll One-of-a-kind with Steffie face/Model Muse body and Certificate of Authenticity. The Hot and Gold dolls were designed by Bill Greening and were offered as a lot of 40 different dolls in 2010 to a single buyer. Barbie author J Michael Augustyniak purchased that lot and sold off the other 39 dolls, keeping this one with the Steffie face as it was his favorite design. This doll comes with the deluxe Certificate holder, as well as a small poster of the entire lot of 40 dolls. The dolls all came in individual plain white cardboard boxes with the Pink Barbie logo on the front. Even though the doll was kept in the closed box and away from light, her top and gloves, unfortunately, tarnished over the years (much like that of the Rocker Derek with gold jacket). The rest of her outfit was not affected. She is still gorgeous with that lovely Steffie face and detailed hat, but please look closely at the photos for top discoloration. I believe her outfit was supposed to be inspired by 1940s fashion. The box is in good condition/ slight wear, and comes with doll stand. Again, this is a one-of-a-kind Mattel doll and would make a lovely addition to your collection. Her left arm is a little swingy but will still hold a pose. She has no green ear, missing hair plugs, no nose nips, or neck splits. She's on her correct Barbie R only body. She comes with her complete and near mint outfit and you'll love this one. Just to note one point of interest first, if you view photo #13, you'll see a comparison of her coat lining. The faded example of the coat is not part of the sale, but I wanted you to see just how bright and red her outfit actually is. The original owner must've played with the doll but the outfit must've been properly protected and put away immediately. It was well protected and is the nicest example of this outfit that I've ever come to possess. She also comes with her original and correct box for this doll. I've included pics of every angle of the box, top and bottom, and please enlarge and zoom in on it. There are a few places with writing and plain wear and tear to this very old box but it's the correct one originally issued in Mattel manufacturing for this dressed doll and outfit that came with her. There's also another addition I've never seen before and that's the clear plastic top/cover with an attached sticker, the sticker also including the correct info for the doll belonging to it. It's in beautiful excellent ++ condition and doesn't appear to have been played with before. It was introduced along with her debut in 1959 and was produced for three years, through 1962. A beautiful bridal gown in pure white satin with an overlay of flocked and silver glitter accented tulle. The exquisitely crafted gown features a full double tier skirt with a train. The dress closes with two snaps down the back of the bodice.It is very hard to find with the sheer long-sleeve tulle bodice intact. The tulle tears easily and the glitter wears off easily. Many available dresses are missing the bodice completely. If you do acquire this dress, be extremely careful when putting it on a doll, the doll’s thumbs are prone to go through the tulle and tear the sleeve. This plain white veil with a ring of pearls The veil and other pieces in this ensemble are pretty easy to find, with the garter and bouquet being the hardest. 1959-60 Barbie RARE BRAIDED Ponytail #3 Brunette w/Brown Eyeliner in Orig Outfit
Here is a striking SL Brunette RARE BRAIDED Ponytail Barbie from 1959-60. Hair looks to be factory-braided (original ponytail band at bottom is deteriorating and ponytail end may be cut? Make-up is sweet; doll retains brown eyeliner and blue eye shadow. One nostril has a teeny cut. Left ear has a faint dark spot. Most nail and toe polish are present. There are shoe stains on both feet from heels being left on over time. Doll has turned mostly a uniform ivory which is common with this type of Barbie. Doll comes in her original B&W swim suit (EX), pair of black heels (one Japan/one plain), white “cat” glasses with blue lenses (side pieces still work), & earrings (no luster). Body is clean. There are mold marks on hips, Back of calves have a tiny bit of stain and one arm has a small green spot. Doll is all original. Items are from my personal collection. AMAZING LOT! Two Early Blonde Barbie's, MINT Outfits, Accessories, and Case
This terrific lot includes a Blonde Ponytail Barbie (B4 on left buttocks Barbie (R) PAT. PEND MCMLVII BY MATTEL INC) plus she has nipples which is unusual, and a Blonde Bubblecut Barbie (B2 on her Left buttocks, Right side says: Midge (TM) 1962 BARBIE (R) C1964 MATTEL INC THEN, PATENTED. They are both in well maintained condition. No splits, cracks, green ears...but they do both have a speck of black where the earrings once were. Bubblecut Midge is wearing the Apple print sheath which is in good condition though slightly faded with age, and comes with the black open toe mules. Ponytail Barbie is wearing the COMPLETE Sheath Sensation (which includes the hat, shoes, gloves and dress). It is is almost MINT condition. Additionally included are a plain cotton blouse in pink and the orange skirt separates in MINT condition with a white "leather " clutch, the gray straight skirt from "Sweater Girl" matched up with a pretty flouncy white blouse and a bright orange felt jacket, a white button down shirt with two matching skirts (MINT), a brown "leather three quarter length jacket, a yellow jacket (a little faded and a pink stain on one arm), a red and black plastic "Ish "checked raincoat and white rain boots, a two piece bathing suit with two differnt top choices, and a one piece bathing suit that is the traditional stripe but in light blue and white. Also included is the light blue Barbie case and original booklet (not shown) which are also in well maintained condition. I had to retouch (badly) the left inside of the case because I had an expensive outfit that was going to make it too costly.
