#1 Ponytail Barbie #850 1959 One owner, my mother who became a fashion merchandiser and lampshade designer. She loved this doll and it comes with many original partial outfits, detailed below. She even had some outfits handmade for this doll, in 1960, which we're including as part of this dolls story. The doll was purchased in 1959-1960 for my mom when she was eleven by her older sister from Uncle Tom’s Toys (now Tom’s Toys) at 682 Higuera Street in San Luis Obispo, California, and Tom's is still in business. All of the other outfits were also purchased around the same time. Original #850 Zebra Swimsuit outfit:One piece black and white zebra striped swimsuit Includes black open toe heeled shoes with holes, white sunglasses with blue lenses, and her gold tone hoop earrings 1959 Partial Outfits #921 floral petticoat 1959: Petticoat only #969 suburban shopper outfit 1959: Dress, sun hat and very fun Woven bag with fruit. (Aluminum clips on the hat lost their spring, but could be replaced) #961 evening splendor 1959: Gold and White Strapless Brocade Dress, Matching Gold and White Fur trimmed Coat Fur and Pearl Trimmed Headband, Green Corduroy Clutch Purse (White Satin Lining), Does not include: Brown Open Toe Heels, Short White Gloves, Matching earrings, White Hankie, Graduated Pearl Necklace. #972 wedding day 1959: Wedding Dress, veil, wrist corsage, Pearl necklace, Bouquet only. Not included: gloves, thigh corsage. #973 sweet dreams pink 1959: Shorts and Skirt, and Diary. Clock not included. Shorts are stretched out. Her original cardboard box, and booklet is not included. The doll is made of heavy vinyl plastic, partially solid body with excellent original skin tone color. Bottom of right foot marked JAPAN. See images for Barbie mark. Blonde saran ponytail hair & curly bangs. Pointy ^ ^ eyebrows like lightening bolts, side glancing eyes with white irises, and hand painted face. Closed red painted mouth. Brass metal cylinders in feet, that fit onto the stainless pins on the black Bakelite stand which has two chips, with Mattel Deboss. This allows her to stand "on her own feet." Her shoes all have holes which allow the pins to pass through. (Condition: Pre-Owned)

Beautiful Vintage #1 Ponytail Barbie Doll 1959 One Owner OG Stand & Collection!
RARE FIND! Number One Blonde Ponytail Barbie with the Original Early Fashions, Pronged TM Mattel #1 Stand Accessories and Case Little nine year old Alice received the first issue Barbie teenage fashion doll for Christmas in 1959. Mattel’s Barbie had just made her debut at the International Toy show in New York. This is a rare opportunity to own a very special number one Barbie with the original “one owner” childhood collection. It includes many early fashions, complete with the jewelry and accessories This Ponytail Barbie is stunning with her cute upturned nose and signature ponytail. She has dramatic lightning shaped eyebrows and handpainted makeup ; blue side glancing eyes, blue eyeliner, smoky eye shadow, coral red lips, red fingernails and toenails. She’s truly stunning and in remarkable condition for being 64 years old. She is 99% original and retains most of her original factory characteristics This number one blonde ponytail has the extended hairline, which is different from the number threes and later dolls. She is very unusual and rare in that she has two distinctly different hairlines from left to right. Her right side is curved and differs from the straighter hairline on the left. She is wearing her original hairstyle set with the top knot and hard curl at the bottom. The ponytail has been retied with matching colored thread as the band was shot. Her hair is uncut and she has no missing plugs. She has a flocked scalp, silky floss hair in baby chick yellow, full poodle bangs with well defined curls and a cute spit curl on her forehead. Her make up is excellent. as is the the nail and toenail polish. She has all of the correct markings on her bottom; Mattel Barbie TM, 1958 in Roman numerals, pat pending and the number 65. She is marked Japan on the bottom of one foot. Her limbs are nice and tight, but she is able to hold any pose. Her neck moves freely, and there are no issues. She has beautiful and even creamy, pale pinkish ivory body color which is amazing as I e usually sees a in e sort of fading . She has beautiful straight legs with the desired daylight shown only between the thigh and knee , and knee and ankle…A sign of classical beauty with models. She has holes in each of her feet with the original copper tubes present. And she even has her original Mattel TM two prong stand which is very valuable! She has had very minor work done.. a professional restoration to her right pinky and a little touch up to her eyelash ridges. There was also one teeny pinpoint freckle on her left leg just below the knee that has been touched up to match the body color . If you look closely at the photos, you will see how gorgeous this doll is. I have not seen one in original condition that is this outstanding. Barbie has a boyfriend , Ken, who will be listed in a separate listing. Blonde Barbie comes with her original iconic black and white swimsuit, white cat, eyeglasses, black, OT mules with holes. Thankfully her feet do not have any of the staining that is typical with these Barbies. She also has her original gold bangle, hoop earrings! One hole per ear and no green ear! How perfect is this girl?! She is FABULOUS! It was so fun to find Barbie in her original little nest with all the fun boxes and precious accessories that Alice had lovingly kept and preserved. You can tell that this Barbie was truly loved and treasured. Alice did not let other children touch or play with her doll :-)*** This collection would not be complete without a photo of little Alice in December of 1959 around the time that she received this Barbie for Christmas. The photo is included here and a printed copy along with the original provenance of this doll will come with the collection upon request Barbie will come with her original white Ponytail case , dated 1961. A couple minor tears at the seams. And her original TM #1 Ponytail fashion booklet along with the second issue with Barbie and Ken in silhouette in the cover . BARBIE SIDE PART AMERICAN GIRL BRUNETTE TONS OF HAIR in COLOR MAGIC FASHION L@@K
As always, please consider my pictures they are part of my description. I do try to take lots of pictures. Highly close up, macro settings. RARE Barbie Brunette Side Part doll. She comes on a Barbie Midge straight leg body, rather than the traditional bendable leg body. She has LOTS of hair, I did wash gently, and because of the body and the hair I did do a lot of research on this one, according to the books Jean Burger is credited for designing the Side Part Barbie. They required so much more time to root this style. And a few dolls with more densely rooted hair that curls and turns all around have been found in JAPAN and USA. When I "styled" her hair it drove me crazy that it did just that, it curls up if you want, or turns under. Now to her condition, the pictures show that her eyelids need, could use a touch up. I do NOT touch up any of my dolls, afraid. I know it can be done. Her lips are nice pouty pink. I do see a tiny tiny white fleck inside her lip. I actually added some super macro pictures, and they should show possibly the one on the inside is missing paint, and then there is a tiny one on her lower lip. Both look t me like they could have happened while making the doll. Just like someone was in a hurry? Not like someone did that while playing with doll. Her body and face match in skin tone, light, and evenly flesh toned. Hard to see but I noticed some superficial minor scratches on lower leg. Her body and limbs are nice and tight. She has NO GREEN, NO NECK SPLITS, and I do see earring holes, in one picture maybe 2 or 3? She never had nail polish on her toes and only some remains on hands. I did add some green HONG KONG mules to her outfit and noticed that only those very early shoes fit her. Her one foot, in my opinion, is just a tiny bit maybe one millimeter shorter than the other. ???!!! I suspect she might just be one of those '" TRANSITIONAL " Barbies, since Mattel never threw any parts away, you decide, ask away. Please. Her outfit is the original color magic blouse and skirt, in nice but a bit faded, condition, all snaps work fine. I am including the pants, but they are also a bit faded, and are discolored in some area. Fit so well. Shoes fit her perfectly. Almost forgot, she had a yellow and green headband originally, it was in very old shape, I cleaned it and salvaged what I could, tied together, that's what you see in pictures. Listing for GREG includes custom hardwood base for the item to display. These are the fun parts about living in a once heavily industrial area. This fully pewter full size Barbie came from a collection that obtained it from the remains of a long-time pewter manufacturer in Providence RI, that has been defunct since about 2000. This company cast high end art pieces and components for countless products. The story portrayed to me was that the iconic ponytail swimsuit Barbie image was used as an in-company award within Mattel in 1998. I don't know the full production of the final result, but I would imagine it to be basically nonexistent. Executive awards in other industries tend to go for tremendous premiums, for example a styrofoam Pillsbury Doughboy they made 500 of will sell for $1500. These are prototypes of the unfinished production. No other example will exist exactly like the one for sale. I only know of 3 existing. I own two, as shown in the images. This sale is for the one on the right, without the joint lines, standing more upright, dated, etc. The earlier model has a slightly larger base and longer heels and leans forward more but they're relatively the same true-to-size scale. There are a few scuffs consistent with age. Aside from that, please note that the right side of the statuette has a yellowish tone, likely can be cleaned off, possibly just a factory material from the mold, remember this was never supposed to see the light of day. Since this is one of a kind preproduction, you'll obviously never see one exact again. But even beyond that, I doubt you'll see another version of the award again, as they basically don't exist. An incredible find for a Barbie collector, but also an incredibly piece of pop art or displayed with a Hollywood Regency or Post Modern Art decor as I've kept mine. Or, take it and auction it through a private auction house... never know the limit on a piece like this. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have about this. It originally had a base of some sort. I'd recommend drilling out the center and bolting it to a new base of choice. (Condition: Pre-Owned)

Vintage Barbie Lot Brunette American Girl, Titian & Lilac Tnt Twist & Turn
eBay The titian and AG came in a box lot of old barbies I happened to come across in my adventures. Most of the barbies (and barbie parts) in this box looked as though they weren't played with much and stored for a long time. It was kind of fun piecing things together and cleaning them up! The titian was just a head and still had the original tnt plastic on her, so I threw her on a body that was in the box. Her head is in great shape, the body is also, but has storage stains and discolorations. Green on foot from coming in to contact with a Casey head in plastic that had the original earring still in. She has multi-tonal firey red hair which is kind of cool....full lashes with none missing and no earring holes. The silver lilac has great hair color. Very soft. She does have earring holes and her body is average with some pokes at feet, some discoloration and a split at back of 1 knee. She has full eyelashes with none missing. Both these girls have beautiful makeup too. Their faces may be a titch darkened in color. The AG was in the box with just arms and a torso. The legs had dry rotted at the hip joints and were off. I glued the hips, right leg does not move, the left leg is loose but stays on. Her body is in crazy good condition. Doesn't look like it was played with. Other than the hip issue it's gorgeous. Her face is equally as stunning with beautiful makeup as it was wrapped in plastic very tightly in the box. I carefully removed the plastic and cleaned her facial area. The hair is very stiff and crushed to her head, so I didn't want to mess with it at all...I don't know if this is original or a wig? I'm leaning more towards wig. She's gorgeous regardless of what she is. The solo is a reproduction and holds her legs very well. Item History - General (iNCLUDING SIZE, year of production, color, scarcity) WHAT FOLLOWS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ANYTHING SPECIFIC in this listing Barbie 1960's Dressed Box Japanese Market Exclusive #0946 Dinner at Eight Japan Marketed Exclusive Dressed Box Dolls Circa 1960's - Bubble Cuts/Ponytails These dolls were released and sold exclusively in Japan in the early to mid 1960's. From what we've been able to discern, the only difference in the actual dolls is an occasional side part - otherwise the dolls and the outfits themselves are standard bubble-cuts or ponytails (mostly always bubble cuts) that could be purchased in the United States. Note that being boxed with earrings, it's difficult to find them without some amount of green ear. The stand, booklet, and boxes have unique characteristics to them. The boxes themselves are standard US sold boxes with an English copyright. The box bottoms will a tariff stamp sticker on the bottom end panel inside edge. The box top will have bottom end panel stickers - a Japanese 10 digit stock number and the outfit stock number that matches the outfit number sold on window cards in the U.S. To date, we have found no difference in the outfits themselves. Note that we've never seen a box without some mold staining issues - our theory for the cause is the Japan sea climate - it seems to be an impossible thing to avoid. The dolls often included a Japan market exclusive booklet (with a Japanese girl playing with her Barbies on the cover). The earliest of these boxes included round #3 style, 2 piece stands with Japan exclusive gold lettering. Later issues would have a standard gold stand. Barbie has no green ears, no splits, and beautiful facial coloring. She has the nippled body that has turned to the creamy white color. She has discoloration at her swimsuit outline. Her lips and nails are in excellent condition with no touch up of any kind. Her body is solid with no splits. She has a tiny line on the left side of her forehead that you have to use a magnifying glass to see. I showed lots of pictures for you to judge. Her bangs could use some styling. Vintage Color Magic Barbie Doll #1150 Yellow Hair changed to RED FLAME
Vintage Color Magic Barbie Doll #1150 Yellow Hair changed to RED FLAMEI am thining my collection of dolls, many are duplicates, so I am looking for them to find new homes and not be returned. I am starting them at a very low price and so should be considered as is and let the bidders determine the price. Please bid if you like what you see. My dolls are in clean and very good condition and I try to describe them as accurately as I can. Please pay attention to whatever it is that is important to you in the descriptions and pictures. I am not responsible for factory flaws since I did not make them. If I see something I will draw it to your attention, as I don't like surprises and I'm sure you don't either. Mattel was a toy factory not a precision watch maker and the dolls in the 60's and 70's were not made by computers so I am happy to say they do not all look exactly the same as those made today. The dolls at Mattel were made by people and so today these vintage dolls are all a bit different, in the way they originally were and how they have aged, some being quite individual and often very special. Please read my interpretation of the specific details below.This Color Magic Barbie is the Yellow and Red Flame Hair Color Version. She came with bright yellow hair and if you use the recipe in the photos you can change your doll's hair to the Red Flame color or return her to he Bright Yellow. Both colors are beautiful. The colors between dolls vary a bit. This doll was and still can be returned to the bright yellow color. I colored her recently. The red color can fade a bit with time, but the recipe contents are easy to find and easy to apply with a small paint brush, q-tip or cotton ball. It doesn't affect Barbie's skin, but it will change an original Color Magic swimsuit and headband. I would describe her hair color as Red. She will arrive RED unless you tell me to change her back to yellow for you.The story behind this doll. I was originally looking for a beautiful face Color Magic Doll that had messed up hair so I could reroot her hair. I found this doll, but when I received her she was just too beautiful to cut all her hair off and start over. She had 3 or 4 hair plugs on the top of her head that were missing hair. I found two Color Magic heads and one was an excellent match of golden yellow to this doll. I figured out how to harvest the donor doll's hair and root the new hair into my beautiful doll face. It has been several years since I transferred the hair that I'm not sure which ones are the reroots the hair is such a perfect match. The next test was to see what the color looked like after I changed her hair to the Flame Red. Still a perfect match and I cannot tell which ones I rerooted. As with all color magic hair, I am always very careful when combing her hair and I recommend only gentle combing wilh all Color Magic Dolls. I also recommend painting the change solution on to the hair rather than dipping. Dipping means you will need to comb out the dipped mess, so an upright doll with a paint brush is my favorite color method. She also has a very decent body, but someone tried to fill in her tiny teeth marks on feet and legs. Sounds worse than it is, but be sure to read the BODY paragraph below. HAIR: Beautiful red color and very decent hair but most all color magic doll's hair is fairly fragile and you lose strands when you comb her hair too much. No hair cuts that I can see and and no missing plugs. Her hair is clean and in very good condition, quite beautiful with her different lengths. Some little girl must have had fun with her as she has many different length and some likely broke off during play, she has some short hairs on her right side. These dolls hair is often thinner at the front and on top. I suppose that is from over combing and reaction to too many color changes. You can see some of her hair plugs around her face and she has average thick hair, it isn't thin. I show her hair fanned in a picture so you see what she has. This doll does not have a painted scalp, so you might see her scalp if hair is pushed aside, but I just felt her hair and she has a good thick hair. She is not wearing a barrette because I always take them off to make sure they don't break her hair. FACE PAINT: Original face paint. Her eyebrows are medium brown and all there, nice black eyelash ridges with a little missing black on the very edges of her right eye. If she has any missing from her left eye it is very hard to tell and I'm using a magnifier. She still has smokey shadow and blue eyes with perfect thick blue eyeliner. Eyes are beautiful and lips are big and beautiful red color that seems to match her hair. She has blush on both cheeks. All I can say is she has a beautiful face..FACE: Her face is a nice even skin tone. No neck splits, nothing noted, her face is normal and smooth and does not look brown. No pierced ears so no issues with green anywhere ever. She has a typical Color Magic face with the huge red lips and thick blue eyeliner.LIMBS: Arms and legs are normal, straight, good coloring. Her arms are excellent and tight, may be a shade darker than torso. She has nail polish on all fingers the same color as her lips and no toe polish. Both legs bend as they should but the clicks are not loud clicks. They bend forward and back. Her hips are very tight and she does have some space between her ankles, but they are still good and not super rubbery lose. The space is naturally for her about 3/4 of an inch. She has all her toes and her bottom of feet holes are quite good with the tiniest little split on one hole very small.BODY: She has the correct body Copyright 1966 Mattel Inc US Patented Us Patent Made in Japan. All fingers and toes. Her body is very nice and her body coloring is tan. Her body is clean and I don't see major stains or scratches. She has some minor scratches on her back, but nothing really. I originally used the template from a CM I previously sold and the dolls are mostly the same, but a little bit different. So, below I just thought you might like to read my discription of this doll adjusted.If you noticed a CM yellow Barbie head in the background in some of the pictures, she is the donor head for her couple of reroots and I just thought you might like to see the beautiful golden yellow color that she is if you change her back. Also I can tell the new owner which plugs had the transplant if they want, they are on the very top of her head at her part.Face Paint: Her black eyelash ridges have some paint missing on the very edges, more on her right side. You can see her nostril paint looks the same color as her lipsLimbs: This doll's knees click loud and bend as they should, still great bending mechanism in both legs. Some polish on all fingers with some having less than 100%, see pics. The space between her feet is 1/4 of an inch on this doll not 3/4 of an inch as described originally. No foot splits that I can see, just some tiny little bites like a tiny kitty might make?I don't see any scratches on her back, it looks smooth.As I mentioned, someone filled in the little kitty teeth bites with something the color of her legs. I never saw them look as bad as they do in the pic of three views of her legs with the yellow shoes on her feet. I don't think her patching looks that bad as in the pics they look like white shadows on her legs, but I think the camera made it look much worse that they really are, I don't see white shadows, but as always I just want buyers to be aware of any imperfections that I am aware of. She IS a very nice doll.Also, I didn't have a nice CM swimsuit for you so I bought this shiny golden yellow swimsuit that I thought looked so beautiful with her amazing red hair. I also am waiting for some squishy tall maybe the same golden yellow color of boots that I thought would look special with her swimsuit and if I receive them in time I will post a pic and include them with this doll with your purchase, I expect them to arrive here tomorrow. Vintage Barbie 1977 "Fashion Photo PJ" Doll, NRFB Superstar Era, Steffie Face
No, your eyes don't deceive you! This auction really is for the highly-coveted Fashion Photo PJ doll, still in her original box from 1977! Another one comes out of hiding, and out into the collecting world. She comes from the estate of a longtime collector who kept everything stored neatly in her non-smoking home since original purchase.This is the third Fashion Photo doll I've sold from any estate, and I had a hard time letting go of this one...what I learned in the process is that the packaging runs the gamut- some dolls are standing, some sitting. Some items are partially assembled, some not. In this one, the cardboard "lens" is punched out from the box flap like the others, but is not pressed into the camera lens. You'll find it in the ziplock bag with her shoes (which are sometimes on the doll's feet), the clear tube stand, and all the "photos" (sometimes found in the camera already). Fun fact- the photos are printed on both sides. I'm still not sure if this doll has been opened before...I managed to slide the insides out so I could take better photos, and found Scotch tape holding the accessory bag in place, and it didn't look vintage. But I believe everything is present, and not ever displayed or played with. The rubber bands holding the camera in place melted long ago, so I wired it back to keep it from banging around during shipping. I also re-twisted the doll's waist wire, as it has ripped through the background, and she was loose. Expect brittle broken rubber bands and the usual issues from dolls this age.Her costume is complete, and colors are vibrant and beautiful...and don't get me started on the blue rhinestone jewelry! She's so gorgeous, it's no wonder she's so popular.Please ask about anything you can't tell from the photos…Box shows average shelf wear for age- look for photo showing slice to top flap, like a careless stock person cut through while opening crate.
