RARE 1959 Original Vintage #1 Brunette Ponytail Barbie with clothes, accesories
RARE 1959 Original Vintage #1 Brunette Ponytail Barbie Doll with clothes. This was my wife's 10th birthday present in 1959, and she has kept it lovingly ever since. This Barbie is in very good condition. She has the holes in her feet to hold her up in the included original stand (which has a cosmetic chip on the back side). The copyright marking is visible on her right buttock. Her right foot has the word JAPAN on the bottom.She has white irises and sharply arched eyebrows. All of her features are original. Her ponytail has never been taken down. This is the exact model shown on the Wikipedia page about the introduction of Barbie at the American International Toy Fair on March 9, 1959, Barbie's official birthday. See https: en wikipedia org wiki Barbie HistoryIncluded: Original zebra striped swimsuit, original gold hoop earrings, and original stand. Also included is the original issue of the Fashion Booklet. The front and back covers are detached, but present. Most of the included items of clothing are from the original catalog. In the order of the photos, they are: #963 Resort Set, #918 Cruise Stripe Dress, #912 Cotton Casual, #977 Silken Flame, #921 Floral Petticoat. The red plaid wool coat has a Barbie label from a later time. The shirt of the riding outfit is from #967 Picnic Set. The other pieces of that outfit are not labeled. The wedding dress with veil, the pioneer dress with bonnet and the cape with 2 piece dress were handmade by my wife for our daughters’ Barbies in the 1970s. Some of the shoes shown are original. This BEAUTIFUL vintage Barbie doll is a RARE find- still in its original unopened packaging from the 1970s! MOD ERA in all its glory! Beautiful doll, beautiful face and complexion, fun hair accessories still factory beautiful, hair pins, comb, Barbie tag on wrist, and shoes included in a NEW UNOPENED BOX. (Shoes are hiding new in package at the end of her dress, I have included a picture and circled the shoes. It's hard to spot on the picture, and I can try to take more if needed) Please see all photos for best illustrative description. Comes from a smoke free home in a dry climate. Beautiful vibrant colors on the box. Factory sealed. As I was prepping for pictures, the bottom flap of the of the box loosened. It didn't come fully open, and is still attached with it's factory glue on the leftside (on the screen) flap (I have shown this in the pictures). Box is factory sealed. Minimal shelf wear for a box this age. Bottom corner slightly smooshed, and bottom flap of box has ribbing from one side to the other. All included in pictures. The plastic appears to have a light dust appearance to either the outside or inside of the plastic that I haven't dared try to remedy, as I thought I'd leave that for the next collector. This vintage Barbie doll is a collector's dream. With bendable legs, twist n turn feature, removable clothes, and Mattel black label, this Francie doll is a rare collector's find. About Francie: Both knees bend pop and hold in the third position as the factory intended. Legs fit snug against her hips. No pinprick's near her feet or ankles. Pink skin. Near perfect feet. TNT feature is tight. No swingy parts. Arms are tight. Francie is just under 11 inches tall. She has long blonde curly flipped hair. Beautiful brown eyes. Sweet face. She'll arrive with seven pieces, including her replacement elastic head band, the XX outfit, and shoes. She is made of hard plastic, vinyl, and specialized plastics to preserve her vintage status. She has a beautiful complexion and her face is lighter than the rest of her. This is standard for these beauties. She was manufactured in Japan in the 1960s or 1970s. Francie is an original doll. She is a no bangs character, with the trust n turn feature. About the outfit: This is the #1210 Francie Hill Riders outfit.
