Vintage Barbie & Ken Sears Fabulous Formal Gift Set #1595 | Factory Braid Mattel
eBay PLEASE NOTE: The item/s listed are considered used and or "played with" vintage items. The items have been stored in various conditions by the previous owners. I inspect all items, if I feel the item is "dirty" and or has heavy soiling, I clean the item (if it can be cleaned), shake the item and smell the item. If the item can not be cleaned and feels dirty to the touch, "soiling to the item" will be noted in the description. Nose sensitivities differ from person to person, the item/s may or may not have a faint musty smell due to age and storage. Items can be put in a container with a Downy Calm "Lavander & Vanilla Bean" dryer sheet (or the fragrance of your choice), this is what I personally recommend. The plastic items have been cleaned with rubbing alchohol, including dolls and cases. I DO NOT SHIP INTERNATIONALLY SMOKE-FREE ENVIRONMENT! _ DESCRIPTION: Vintage Barbie and Ken Sears Fabulous Formal Gift Set #1595 VHTF NEAR COMPLETE! BARBIE Barbie's body has been replaced with the "Talking Barbie" stamped "Hong Kong", it was released one year later. The torso, arms and legs are exactly the same, however the markings are different. © 1967 Mattel, Inc. U.S. & Foreign Pats. Pend. Hong Kong. Unfortunately the legs of the "Talking Barbie" from 1967 and 1968 tend to break. Barbie is mute. However, her string can be pulled. HAIR Gorgeous hair, multiple shades of blonde. All of her hair seems to be in place, her hair seems to be correct, in a braid, Talking Barbie dolls were sold with a braid as well as a ponytail with three ties. I added a clear rubberband to the top tie, the bottom rubberband is present but is dry and broken, the original ribbons are in place and have not been retied. FACE Her complexion is absolutely mint! Zero fading and zero darkening. Her face looks brand new! Zero rubs to her make up, unfortunately she is missing two eyelashes. Neither ear is pierced. Zero neckplits. TORSO Perfect torso. Free of scratches and melt marks. Very clean. Stamped MEXICO on her rear. ARMS Both arms are haven't been cleaned using a strong detergent removing the slick coating Each shoulder is semi stained. I do not recommend moving either arm due to the age. HANDS All fingers are intact with zero pin holes. Very clean. LEGS Barbie's legs are perfect. Absolutely zero flaws to the vinyl, both are stain free and function with three hard clicks. Zero pin holes. Unfortunately there are grey stains on each of Barbie's hips. Each leg is attached with the original mechanism, however, the left leg is not as tight. I do not recommend moving either leg. Unfortunately the legs of the "Talking Barbie" from 1967 and 1968 tend to break. FEET Perfect feet. All toes are present. Zero pin holes. DRESS Yellow Ruffled Lamé Gown - Excellent to near mint condition. The material is bright and clean, however the dress appears soiled in the photo's, which it is not. Please contact me for additional photo's. All threads are tightly woven with zero pulls and zero snags... The metallic silver threads have not lost their luster. Absolutely zero holes and zero repairs. The only visible flaw is the yellow polyester underskirt, faint wrinkles. SHOES I have paired Barbie's hot pink closed to heels with the "Fabulous Formal" gown. They are free of fading, chips and splits. Each have a straight heel. Both are stamped JAPAN. PURSE Barbie's gold dimple purse has been added to the set. It is in excellent condition. HANGER The pink filigree Barbie hanger is included. TALKING GOOD LOOKIN' KEN Talking Ken is mute, however, he is in nice displayable condition. Minor fading to his face. Zero hair rubs. Unfortunately his head was glued on, most likely due to a chip of plastic missing from the front of his neck. His pull string does not move and I would not recommend attempting. His arms, hands, legs and rear have surface marks. Both of his arms are functioning, as well as his legs. His rear is stamped MEXCIO. Ken is in good condition. DRESS SHIRT Near excellent condition. The material is bright and clean with all gold threading intact on the tie. The back button has been replaced, the loop is intact but is dried and stretched. VEST Excellent condition. The front of the vest is bright, bold and clean with all three original gold buttons intact and secure. Slight age discoloration to the back. All seams are intact; zero repairs. GOLD JACKET Near mint condition. The material is bright, bold and clean; non faded. Free of holes and stains. The jacket is free of repairs. The Ken label is secure with zero fraying. SLACKS The slacks included with the set are original, they are in excellent condition, bright and clean, one small rust dot can be found on the front right side of the slacks. The YKK zipper is functioning. Free of holes and repairs. WHITE SOCKS Ken's original socks are in excellent condition. Neither of the socks are stretched. One is slightly discolored. Free of holes. WHITE LOAFERS Both are in excellent condition. Each shoe reads Hong Kong on the inside. Free of stains. THE BOOKLET IS INCLUDED. 1969 Sears FABULOUS FORMAL Gift Set #1595 - Complete
1969 Sears Fabulous Formal Gift Set #1595This set originally came boxed with a talking Ken doll #1111 and a Barbie Talking Doll #1115. This auction is for the outfits/fashions for Ken and Barbie only, which came in the Giftset.Barbie's #1871 Romantic Ruffles in YELLOW, Ken's #1431 Gurvuy Formal, the only difference being a yellow/mustard colored faille jacket instead of the red jacket.This is a hard-to-find complete ensembleThe dress in this set is a yellow version of #1871 Romantic Ruffles, which was pink.This beautiful yellow dress is excellent and has no issues. The silver bodice has all of its silver thread with no spare areas. The satin salmon/Pink colored accent ribbon at the high waist and its attached flower are perfect. The 5 tiers of silver-flecked yellow net ruffles are completely intact with no holes, split seams, or discoloration. The dress has a yellow satin underdress which is lovely with no issues. Both metal hooks and yellow thread loops are still secure on the back of the dress for closure. The dress carries its un-frayed Barbie tag.The accessories, which compliment this Barbie fashion is a pair of yellow net ruffle earrings and a silver fabric clutch purse with yellow satin lining. Both are in great vintage condition and have no issues. Yellow Pilgrim shoes complete Barbie's attire.Ken's outfit is a variation of #1431 Gurvuy Formal, with the substitution of a yellow/mustard colored faille jacket.Ken's white shirt with silver accent jabot is crisp and clean with the tiny white button and thread loop intact on the back. The Ken white pants in this set are original to this set only and they have both a working YKK zipper and a metal hook for closure ( the thread loop is there and it is pulled out, but there ). No stain and no holes.The red brocade vest with a white satin back is great. It has all of its 3 golden bead accent buttons on the front and its 2 metal snaps on the inside for fastening.Ken's yellow/mustard colored faille jack is wonderful. It is crisp and there are no holes, split seams, or stains. It carries the Ken tag in his fashion, and it is un-frayed. Image 17 of this faille jack appears to have a stain - it is not - it is a shadow. A pair of Ken's white dress shoes, stamped Japan and a pair of Ken's white cotton socks complete his attire.* Picture #22, showing these Ken and Barbie Fashions on dolls modeling, has only been added for reference. Sears Exclusive Fabulous Formal Gift Set #1595This is a hard to find set!This exclusive gift set came with a yellow version of the Romantic Ruffles. This dress is near mint and tagged. Also included is her yellow shoes and silver shiny cloth purse with yellow lining . We are also including the top of a bathing suit for Talking Barbie model number 8348. And, we are including the swimsuit for a Talking Barbie model number 1115. Ken’s Sears Exclusive is inspired by Gruvuy Formal but he has the Sears Exclusice gold jacket instead of the red one that came with the Gruvuy Formal. Ken has the white shirt with ascot, brocade vest, gold jacket, white pants (not original to this outfit - not tagged), white socks and white shoes. The jacket is tagged. This outfit is near mint. We are also including his original tagged red shorts and shirt. DollsBarbie The doll is not original to the Sears Exclusive set. This doll is a talking Barbie head on a Twist and Turn body - this is the way it was purchased from the original owner. She is missing a few hair plugs underneath her ponytail. KenHe is in overall good condition but he does not talk. This exclusive outfit would be a great addition to a collection. No returns and shipping to lower 48 states only. Fabulous Formal jacket has light rubs to fabric. Guruvy Formal jacket is in good condition. Shirt is still pretty white but missing closure. Vest has snap closure and all buttons. Condition grades like "mint", "near mint", etc. are very subjective so I don't use them.
