#1 Ponytail Barbie #850 1959 One owner, my mother who became a fashion merchandiser and lampshade designer. She loved this doll and it comes with many original partial outfits, detailed below. She even had some outfits handmade for this doll, in 1960, which we're including as part of this dolls story. The doll was purchased in 1959-1960 for my mom when she was eleven by her older sister from Uncle Tom’s Toys (now Tom’s Toys) at 682 Higuera Street in San Luis Obispo, California, and Tom's is still in business. All of the other outfits were also purchased around the same time. Original #850 Zebra Swimsuit outfit:One piece black and white zebra striped swimsuit Includes black open toe heeled shoes with holes, white sunglasses with blue lenses, and her gold tone hoop earrings 1959 Partial Outfits #921 floral petticoat 1959: Petticoat only #969 suburban shopper outfit 1959: Dress, sun hat and very fun Woven bag with fruit. (Aluminum clips on the hat lost their spring, but could be replaced) #961 evening splendor 1959: Gold and White Strapless Brocade Dress, Matching Gold and White Fur trimmed Coat Fur and Pearl Trimmed Headband, Green Corduroy Clutch Purse (White Satin Lining), Does not include: Brown Open Toe Heels, Short White Gloves, Matching earrings, White Hankie, Graduated Pearl Necklace. #972 wedding day 1959: Wedding Dress, veil, wrist corsage, Pearl necklace, Bouquet only. Not included: gloves, thigh corsage. #973 sweet dreams pink 1959: Shorts and Skirt, and Diary. Clock not included. Shorts are stretched out. Her original cardboard box, and booklet is not included. The doll is made of heavy vinyl plastic, partially solid body with excellent original skin tone color. Bottom of right foot marked JAPAN. See images for Barbie mark. Blonde saran ponytail hair & curly bangs. Pointy ^ ^ eyebrows like lightening bolts, side glancing eyes with white irises, and hand painted face. Closed red painted mouth. Brass metal cylinders in feet, that fit onto the stainless pins on the black Bakelite stand which has two chips, with Mattel Deboss. This allows her to stand "on her own feet." Her shoes all have holes which allow the pins to pass through. (Condition: Pre-Owned)

Original #1 1959 Vintage Blonde ponytail Barbie with all accessories
eBay It is time to sell my older sister's #1 Barbie that she received in 1959. She is all original, never really played with, only used to make clothes for my Barbie later on. Her ponytail will need some care, the rubber bands have disintegrated over time and the ponytail has lost its curl. Her hair has never been cut, it just appears a bit shorter than usual because it is "fluffed". Her makeup is totally original, and in excellent condition. All nail and toenail polish is still there, one of the few flaws I see with her is from red shoes she has worn, there is some red on her feet from these. Absolutely no green ear at all. All joints are tight She does have a stain on her thigh, very light. The stand has a small piece broken out of one side, but doesn't show when that side is turned to the back. She doesn't have her original box anymore, the right lid was switched over the years, but she does have her booklet, (written in and some tears to pages) original black shoes with holes, earrings, sunglasses in excellent shape, stand and swimsuit. I even have extra black shoes I will send with her.I will pay shipping and insurance and double/triple box her. She is the best #1 Barbie I have seen on eBay recently, with the fewest flaws! This is an original rare vintage 1959 issue #1 Ponytail Barbie doll with beautiful brunette hair, holes in feet, and original paint. I can personally attest to its originality as it was given to my sister in 1959. It does not have the original package, but comes with a 1960 Barbie Midg wardrobe case and accessories. Some of the clothing is original but it also includes custom made pieces sewn by my mom who was a professional seamstress. This doll is highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts alike, and is a must-have for any serious Barbie collector. The doll is in excellent condition, with no modifications made. It has been well-preserved over the years and has maintained its original charm and beauty. This Barbie doll is a true vintage gem and would make a perfect addition to any collection. vintage barbie doll 900 Series complete outfits-doll not included
My aunt owned a paint store in 1959 when I was 10 years old. She also sold toys in a special section upstairs and my sister and I looked forward every year to visiting her shop and picking out things we wanted to put on our Christmas list. My birthday is in November, and the year I turned 10, she gave me one of the first Mattel Barbies made in Japan. I thought Barbie wasn’t very pretty, but I loved her clothes. She is long gone, but her outfits are alive and in excellent condition, as I became obsessed with her clothes. I would not let anyone touch my Barbie, and on every Birthday and Christmas until I became a teen, all I asked for were Barbie outfits. She had more clothes than I ever dreamed of having. Now I am 73 years old and have 2 beautiful granddaughters and 7 great nieces who love Barbie too. I would love to leave this cherished collection to my granddaughters or a great nieces, but none of them would ever value these items as I did. They would end up lost, tossed aside or in the trash. So, as much as it breaks my heart to sell these items, I feel selling them can benefit my education in the future. A few pieces were missing, like an earring or glove, but replaced by me. Every outfit in this 900 series collection is clean, mint, & complete and owned by the original owner ME The collection has been stored meticulously in acid free tissue and nothing has any odor of any kind.The following items are all Original. Vintage 1958 Mattel "Ponytail Barbie" Doll w/ Zebra Swimsuit & Pink Dress
This is a vintage 1958 Mattel "Ponytail Barbie " Doll with a zebra swimsuit (just like in the movie!).It is a highly collectible item for any Barbie enthusiast. The doll stands at 11 inches in height, has stunning blue eyes and used to have curly blonde/reddish bangs and straight hair in pony tail (now the hair looks like barbie has bed-head). It belongs to the product line of "Ponytail Barbie". This doll has red lipstick and red painted fingernails and toes. However the paint on the toes is very faded and she is missing the little finger on her right hand. Then my mother read an article about how much this Barbie may be worth so she put her safely in storage and bought us cheaper Barbies to play with ?. The 1958 Ponytail Zebra Swimsuit Barbie has been safely tucked away in my mother's closet from the 1980s until now. Condition and Cleaning: There is no green discoloring at the ear holes, her nose is intact. I cleaned her with water, elbow grease and a few drops of dawn. See updated photos. The stains on her shoulders, butt, elbows & calves all came off. There is a red stain (pen?) on her upper arm that did not come off. Yes, I said NEVER OPEN STILL FACTORY SEALED.PLUS THE DREAM HOUSE IS STILL IN THE ORGINAL SHIPPING BOX and it is still Factory SEALED also. I have looked on eBay and Worth Point and was not able to locate another one in this condition that has ever sold. This Dream House was purchased from Sears for Brandy around 1980 and she decided not to open it because her sister also received one that same year for Christmas. Brandy 's mother wrote Brandy name on the box and they put it in the closet and forgot about it for 40 years. I bought it from Brandy with the intention of selling it around CHRISTMAS. As you can see I am running a little late. Vintage, Rare Bild Lilli Doll from mid 1950s GermanyHere's some background on the Lilli doll from Wikipedia:"The Bild Lilli doll was a West German line of fashion doll launched by Greiner & Hausser Gmbh on August 12, 1955, and produced until 1964. Its design was based on the comic-strip character Lilli, created by Reinhard Beuthien for the tabloid newspaper Bild. The doll was made of polystyrene, came in two sizes, and had an available wardrobe of 1950s fashion. The Lilli doll was copied, and altered to some degree, for Mattel upon the direction of that company's co-founder, Ruth Handler. Mattel acquired the rights to Bild Lilli in 1964, and production of the German doll ceased, in favor of Mattel's new vinyl doll, which they called Barbie My father was stationed in Nurnburg from 1955-57 and the whole family got to go along. I was in second grade when we got there and as soon as I saw the Lilli dolls hanging from the rear view mirrors of cars I started begging my mother for one. Eventually I wore her down and I and my three year old sister(!) both got Bild Lilli dolls for Christmas. My sister recently sold her Bild Lilli doll on eBay and has been encouraging me to list mine. I am the best at procrastination but I am finally taking the e-bay plunge from buyer to seller. By the way, I included the last picture because my mother gave me the doll with the tennis dress turned backwards so Lilli's cleavage would not show. I did not realize this fact until I started researching the doll for this listing. I think it is funny and just like something my mother would have done. I don't know for sure but I suspect I cut it because when Barbie came out she did not have one. I apparently was trying to make Lilli a follower instead of the attention seeking woman Beuthien had in mind. Lilli's hair was a ponytail but I had restyled it into a bun to fit the headpiece my mother made for a bridal gown. This evening, after about 50 years in storage, I combed it out and styled it into a braid. There are pictures of both styles. Someone who actually works with dolls could probably take a curling iron and restyle the ponytail. I also feel I must warn you that the doll squeaks when you move her limbs, especially her left arm, but she has been good about letting me dress her, both in the '50s and now in 2023. In separate listings I am offering an authentic German dirndl dress with apron for Lilli and some listings of assorted doll clothing which include many my mother made plus a few Bild Lilli outfits with the PRMY snaps. I also believe the sheer bed jacket in the Lot belonged to Lilli even though it lacks the snaps to prove it. I have assorted little purses and some other miscellany I found in my Barbie case which I am also hoping to sell. I hope you will look for my other listings which also include a 1961 Titian Bouffant Barbie, a mid '50s Madame Alexander Cissette doll, and, eventually, some collectible dolls my mother mistakenly thought might get the tomboy out of me.I will be requiring insurance for this listing.
